Relaxing getaway

April 4, 2013

I came here with my family for a few days of relaxation and togetherness. The home is full of charm and character. The ocean views are through the trees but the woods and cabin like atmosphere create an additional element of interest. The house itself is clean and inviting. The two floors made for some needed space between the kids and adults while still allowing for plenty of family time. The entire place was romantic and homey. Also, the property management company was fantastic and very accommodating. Thanks for sharing your lovely home.

Lovely property, but not for small kids.

September 25, 2012

Lovely, spacious house. We enjoyed our stay. A few things though - the spacings of the railings on the upper and lower deck are so far apart that small kids and dogs will be able to walk/fall right thru. The property is not fenced and is right on the main road, but there is not much traffic. Still, if you have dogs or little kids, you will have to watch them. We could not find the foot path to the ocean that was described in the listing. One thing to be aware off - there is no cell phone reception (with Tmobile) and the land line phone in the property is limited to local calls. We loved the gas fire place, the nice view of the ocean thru the trees, and all the space. We might be back for another visit.

Get-en Away

August 24, 2012

A proprietary view of the ocean, a hot cup of coffee, no better way to start off a day in the cozy home on the bluff. The view through the trees from the second story balcony of the rolling breakers was relaxing. The simple kitchen was efficient accompanied with all that was necessary to prep meals during your stay. Cleanup the old fashioned way (no dishwasher) allowed a shared duty and a little playful time if one is so inclined. Prep a sack lunch and latter head for the sandy beach stroll and relax, it was just minutes away. The first story of the home is basic all windows face the ocean and kitchen table small seating area with gas stove type fireplace. The full bathroom is on this level which includes a stacked washer dryer small but again efficient. The second story is a sleeping and entertainment area with windows that face the ocean, a balcony with seating to enjoy a view of sunsets and inside a large flat screen, satellite TV, Dvd, VCR, couch and two queen beds. WiFi is also included. It fits the bill when it comes to a getaway place to leave the city behind.

Owner's reply:

Thank you Dave! We hope to see you again soon! This is a great location for winter storm watching!

Lovely weekend on the bluff

July 10, 2012

A couple missed expectations, due to me reading too much into previous reviews. First, the house is dog-friendly (though I did spend a lot of energy covering all the furniture ahead of my cushy-loving dogs), but the yard isn't fenced, and the deck/balcony railing posts are wide apart. My dogs immediately jumped from the side deck down into the yard and ran around the house, especially unnerving since the house is right on the main road. After I got them back inside, I blocked the side deck with a chair so they could hang out on the upper balcony in the sun with us. That worked fine. Not a lot of grass outside, so even taking them out on leashes to do their thing was tricky. The same company rents a house a bit farther north that has a fenced yard with a lawn; we were mistakenly directed to that one at first, but I might actually look into renting that one next time instead. Previous reviewers said "isolated," but it's actually kind of in town. It's a very small town, granted, and everyone's super friendly, but the balcony overlooks camping sites and houses below; at night you hear people having bonfires (and setting off fireworks, this time of year at least) on the beach below. There are houses right next door. Most of the time I could hear other people/dogs doing stuff. No biggie, didn't ruin the weekend or anything (I'm not that weird)---just not the kind of natural isolation I was imagining and have experienced before on the coast. Couldn't find beach access from the house (what wooden path?), so drove down through the town to the beach. Once we got to the beach, though, there really were few people around. My dogs are city dogs, not used to roaming free and meeting lots of people/other dogs, so it's much more relaxing overall if we have the place to ourselves. We pretty much did. It was lovely. All of that said, the weekend was wonderful, the place was terrific. Loved cooking all our meals in the kitchen with views of the ocean. Lots of pots and pans to use, salt and pepper, foil, that sort of thing. Nice. Loved hanging out on the upstairs balcony gazing at the sea (or peering through the trees to see the sunset), or even hanging out on the big comfy bed, with the same lovely ocean view. Loved watching movies (and Wimbledon!) on the big TV. Of course, LOVED the beach. The dogs were in total bliss, us too. Found a hose outside to rinse the dogs off before going back inside, which was helpful. Left feeling re-energized and happy. Thanks!

Only the view could top the living space

April 12, 2011

What a nice place. The simple, yet elegant, layout of the home, the color scheme, the space, the items in the cupboards; all of it made us feel so safe and welcomed, like we were in our own home. The 1st night, I wasn't there, and my husband called me to rave about the beautiful sunset he was watching. He was delighted with the whole setup and the amazing view. He did mention that I should bring a sheet and some tacks because of the lack of privacy on the roadside of the house. Of course considering we're in the NW,we didn't get a repeat sunset after my arrival, but the view was amazing. The 2 L shaped floor arrangements were great, although we spent most of our time on the upper floor. Both floors were great with the utilities, kitchen, gas stove insert and reading area on the first floor; and another sitting area with a flat screen TV, 2 desk areas and a queen size bed in opposite areas of the room. We spent our time playing Scrabble, making meals, drinking wine, working at our laptops, and doing what young (56 & 60 year old) couples who've been married almost 39 years still like to do. We thought that it would be a great place for an inexpensive honeymoon or anyone else. We ate a gourmet breakfast at a nearby hotel at 15% off and discovered a wooden walkway to the beach. So much was totally unexpected and delightful, including the book an old book on linguistics, that I wish I had the name of so I could finish reading it! Thank you to the true home owners!

Beautiful House on the Bluff

April 4, 2011

Lovely modern home on the bluff. Clean, spacious, with a lovely view through the trees. I was able to sit on the upstairs deck and soak up the sun one afternoon while the surf roared on the beach below. The upstairs windows facing east and south need some window coverings. I felt a little exposed in the evening with the lights on.

We love this place

December 26, 2010

Great place for romance--extremely private, loved the isolation. Nice TV w/ cable and music channels upstairs. Loved the wrap-around deck too. Small general store less than 1/2 mile up the road if you forget any groceries can pick up a few things there. It poured all weekend but we didn't care...

great place to stay

November 12, 2010

Very lovely home with great ocean views. The heat works great in the winter! Nice kitchen appliences. Very pet friendly. Even had a jar of dog treats and gave us a dog towel with doggie bags upon arrival. Very good water pressure for your shower. Would recommend to friends and family. Only 2 down falls was that we did not see any type of recycle bin and it is close to the road. If the house is quiet, you can hear cars passing. However, the road was not very busy.

Moclips weekend

October 20, 2010

Our stay at the Moclips Oasis was very nice. The cabin itself is great for a couple and the gas fireplace was really nice for the chilly nights. The beach is a short walk or drive away but you cannot access the beach directly from the Cabin. Also the Quinalt Indian Reservation, a few miles away, has a beautiful coastline with hiking and strange rock formations. The downsides were that there was no toilet paper in the cabin and the cabin is located pretty close to the highway (although the highway is not very noisy)
