About the area

On 27 picturesque acres surrounded by farmland, woods and trails, this property offers the ultimate in privacy and yet is only minutes from skiing, Waitsfield and Warren villages and other Mad River Valley activities. The Mad River Valley is known as a "haven" for its "scenic rural landscape and peaceful way of life" (The New York Times). While its legendary skiing on three ski mountains and extensive network of VAST snowmobiling and cross country trails attracts winter sports enthusiasts, unlike many other ski resorts the Valley is surprisingly free of crowds and traffic. Its pristine countryside and progressive, sophisticated community makes it a wonderful destination year-round for everyone who after their first visit falls in love with its fresh air, natural beauty, and organic spirit. Summers offer arts festivals, farmers markets and a legendary 4th of July parade; kayaking, fishing and swimming in the beautiful Mad River; antiquing, shopping and dining on exquisite locally-grown fare as well as a myriad of activities from golfing to gliding.

“Holiday Week”

What a great house. Sits up on the mountain with great views. We were a family of 6 and were very comfortable. House can sleep 12. Our kids had their own space downstairs and it worked out well. It was set up like a separate apartment. Mud room was a saving grace. Weather was warm, which made for lots of wet shoes. Ski conditions were not great, so we didn't get in each others way when we were all together. Fully equipped kitchen was very nice. Surrounding property was great for long hikes. Would recommend this house to larger families. Restaurants in area were very good. We all agreed we would stay there again if we go back to that area.

“Summer Family Reunion”

Reviewed 8 Feb 2009

We chose this property for our summer family reunion-4 adults and 8 children (ages 5-13). It was perfect in every respect. Absolutely gorgeous mountain views from the deck, living room, kitchen, both master bedrooms and bath, too. This large home is stylishly and comfortably designed with all the amenities. The decor is beautifully done, but we appreciated that the couches and chairs were comfortable, too. We loved the great room with kitchen, dining, living room and TV available all in one big room. We also liked having a private "kids zone" for the younger set. It was very homey, too, so we really enjoyed our time at the house. When not outside enjoying the 40 acres of woods, fields and streams, the kids played games and cards in the comfy lower level game room, and loved having their own kitchen for drinks and snacks, while the parents read or watched movies upstairs. A terrific well equipped kitchen to gather and socialize while cooking, eating and enjoying one another. I s

“spacious and peaceful”

We picked this location because it's only a few miles from both Sugarbush and Mad River Glen, and were pleasantly surprised by the open layout, garage and awesome foyer to stash all our ski gear. The fireplace was well used as it was close to zero most of the weekend we were there, the resort had provided plenty of wood, kindling and newspaper. I was surprised at the good quality of the bedroom furnitur as well, and the bathroom appeared to be recently re-tiled. Every need was thought of, really. I do wish a hot tub was available, but we enjoyed the sauna after a chilly day of skiing.
