Have not been up yet.

March 20, 2013

We where looking to rent this summer and have the whole family. My parents are getting up in years and we wanted to bring them back up. This is one of the best family vacation we had have. Everyone in the family love coming up. But we had to postpone the trip this year, for we had a family member get very sick. So we are hoping to do this next year, with the whole family.

Lousy water pressure = toilet trouble!

October 21, 2010

When we arrived there was almost no water pressure. So toilets had a hard time flushing and water was cold for showering. Finally, after contacting the owner we figured out how to re-set the pump in the house and we had hot water. The windows are not well insulated. It took us a while to figure out where the space heaters were and where to place them. Half the time we were there I was cold. The house is spacious and the furniture is comfortable. It is clean and the kitchen appliances all functioned reasonably well. The fall weather was crisp. The leaves were beautiful - great colors - nice fresh air. The water did not get hot enough in the hot tub. Probably another result of the pump malfunction. The price was reasonable. Had the weather been warmer we might have tried kayaking or canoeing. As it was, we just took long walks on the road. The main point of the trip was to spend time with old friends, share some memories, good food and play games for a few days. In this respect the vacation was successful. Next time, I think we're going to try to find a new location.

filthy mess

August 31, 2009

For over 20 years our family has rented homes for our reunion. This was the worse house we have ever had. On Saturday upon arriving I called the onwers, the house was a mess. The living rug smelled like urine. The house had a terrible smell of its own. The kitchen counters and sink needed to be cleaned. The house was not just dirty but in disrepair. Nothing worked right. I recalled the onwers on Sunday morning. I did not want to be responsible for this mess. I insisted they come to take a look. They were surprise that we were upset. The windows and screens are so dirty you could not see the beautiful lake. The down stairs bedroom could not be used until it was aired out. Tables and drawers are filled with junk and old magazines. The tile floors have not been mopped. Refrig, stove not clean. The list goes on and on. One of our guest stated this house is not just a filthy mess it is a disaster. I would never rent this house or any properties they own. Black Cat Island is a beautiful place. I would go back again, but rent a different house.
