This fabulous home is located in the historic district just two short blocks from downtown shopping and dining in quaint downtown Mount Dora. Privately owned and managed this charming old florida style home complete with a metal roof is the perfect getaway from everyday life. Set on a hill with a wraparound deck that overlooks Lake Dora you will be treated to the most beautiful views and sunsets. Almost every room in the house has spectacular views of these everchanging vistas. On the main floor you will enter the vaulted ceiling vestibule which is lined with bookcases containing volumes of books old and new on every subject. This floor contains a raised platform in the living room with a wood burning fireplace and two comfortable white leather couches. You will have a wonderful view of the lake through a large picture window as you relax after a busy day. Mirrored walls and glass shelving on the firplace wall reflect the light from the outside which makes the whole interior light and airy. The dining area also has a sliding glass door and has a glass top table with 4 chairs and a chandelier. The kitchen is next with stainless steel dishwasher, side by side refrigerator with ice maker and a stainless steel gas stove. Smaller appliances consist of a microwave, toaster Oven, coffee Pot, crockpot and blender. There are two sets of dishes, pots and ans, silverware and glasses all matching and like new. An adjoining den has a large flat screen TV with over 250 channels from Direct TV and also there is a DVD player with a stereo sound system There is a large closet filled with games and movies. This room also has a vaulted ceiling with a skylight and has an African decor featuring original art works and authentic hand crafted masks from Africa. There is a convenient bath with sink and commode adjoining this room. Large sliding glass doors in the den look out on the side yard that has a lovely large old shade tree under which there is a small outdoor patio with table and chairs that has a great view of the lake also. The lush hedging and privacy shrubbery are a perfect hideout for many species of birds. They love the flowers and birdbaths we have put out there for them. A spiral staircase leads up to the second floor that also has a high ceiling with a skylight. There is a very sweet little alcove that we call the "Cubby" with a large white victorian wicker day bed on this floor along with the large Master Bedroom and full bath. The master bedroom has a king size bed with designer linens and a new down comforter. The decor of this room is very calming with a french style headboard and antique chest of drawers with an antique french mirror. Another lovely feature of this room is the wonderful window seat overlooking the lake. A perfect place to curl up and read a book with a glass of wine or cup of tea. This room also has a TV with a VCR and DVD player. Another tucked away little area has an antique desk to jot notes if you have time. There is a full bath with tub and shower on this level. The sink has a marble top and french style cabinet. All linens are supplied. You will find this house is the perfect place to come home to after sightseeing or shopping during the day. Just relax on the deck and take in the evening views. There are two patio sets on the deck and a gas barbecue as well as two lounge chairs. Just bring your toothbrush and some clothes of course.

Mount Dora is centrally located and is one hour from the beaches on the east coast. Deep sea fishing charters are available in many towns along the coast. Orlando MCO airport is approx 50 minutes using toll road 429 and the turnpike. Disney, Sea World and Universal Studios can be reached in less than an hour also using 429 to connect you with I-4. The downtown area of Mount Dora is two blocks from the house and has many wonderful shops and restaurants including several outdoor restaurants. Within walking distance is the Marina and Gilbert Park. Most shops and restaurants of all categories are within a six block area. There are no fast food restaurants here. You will find the dining experiences and choices of gourmet and ethic dishes unlike any other small town in Florida. It is all here within walking distance. The Garden Gate tea room is a must for lunch with friends or to have tea and dessert later in the day. The many shops up and down alleys and side streets have unique and different items. There are several art galleries to visit along with Mt. Dora Center of the Arts. The town is centered on the edge of Lake Dora and there are tours of the lake available from the city docks by the yacht club and Lakeside Inn. There is a trolley excursion as well as Horse and Carriage rides which are available outside the Chamber of Commerce. Each year there are several festivals. In October there is a Bike Festival and Craft Festival. November is perfect place to be during the Thanksgiving holidays. Sunday night after Thanksgiving is the official lighting ceremony called Light up Mount Dora with music and lots of activities. December brings the Downtown Merchants Walk and open house. Lots of fun for young and old. Christmas time is a fairyland at night downtown with hundreds of thousands of lights strung throughout the park and on the stores. People come from all over to see it. February brings one of the biggest Art Shows in the state. No matter what is going on in the town during the day, each evening it quietly returns to the peaceful little place we all feel so special to have.
