“Great romantic hideaway”
Brought my wife here to celebrate her birthday, and we had a quiet weekend in an absolutely beautiful spot. Dave - the owner - is a very nice guy who knows what you need, and it is all there. This includes giving you plenty of privacy and providing you with written direction to several great local hikes. We brought our little dog, and he loved the place. It is truly idyllic, and even has a beech tree shading the deck, right over the picnic table. Thanks Dave, we will be back!
“A beautiful and relaxing dog-friendly experience!”
Our first stay at David's cabin was wonderful! The reason why we picked this cabin was because we travel with our active dogs, who are not stranger friendly. The reviews promised a remote dog-friendly property, and it sure was! I was comfortable enough to just open the door and let them run free without having to worry about them coming across other people. We were even allowed to leave the dogs alone, as long as we felt they wouldn't be destructive. This is a major plus! When traveling with dogs, it can be hard to find lodging that allows this. We were able to visit downtown and go out to eat, which is never an option with pups who bark at strangers! The creek next to the cabin is the most gorgeous creek we had ever seen. It is full of rocks and boulders that both dogs and humans enjoyed traversing, and made a great morning hike. We hope to visit again in warmer weather, when we can take a dip in the clear waters. Please find the mapquest directions David has printed in the information pile inside the cabin directing you to the wooden deck lookout on his property at the top of the mountain. You will not be disappointed! This is not something you can not google ahead of time (which, being a planner, I love to do). We found the packet of stapled papers and decided to check it out. What a wonderful surprise when we arrived at the lookout. It took our breath away to see the sun beam down on the colored trees while tiny balls of snow started falling. It was a moment we will never forget. The cabin itself was peaceful, clean, and fully stocked with towels, linens, kitchen utensils, music and movies. We felt welcomed and comfortable, as if it were our own home. You can feel the love that is put into this cabin! We would like to thank David for welcoming us, even when we arrived after 11pm and allowing us to stay into the evening, even though check out was at noon, because no one was checking in after us that day. Our short weekend stay was both relaxing and memorable. We hope to return as soon as we can!
“Fabulous Place to Stay.”
I can't begin to explain how awesome our stay was in Woodstock, NY. From the moment we requested the dates the owner David got right back to us and answered all our questions. He met us at the cabin which was beautiful, clean, and right next to a babbling brook. Listening to the brook one falls into a deep comfortable la, la land. The yard was meticulous in its landscaping. There was a fire pit with wood provided. The town of Woodstock was great. Plenty to see, plenty to do. There is a weekend flea market with all types of vendors. Near by is Overlook mountain. I took a hike with our dogs. They loved it. Btw, the town is very dog friendly as well. All in all, 5+ stars for owner David his cabin and the area.
“Perfectly charming and adorable”
We stayed a too-short weekend (3 days) at Dave's delightful little cabin. Although small it was just perfect for the two of us. It is just a 12 minute drive into "downtown" Woodstock. There's a great fire pit, comfy Adirondack chairs out front, and a picture perfect creek. If you're lucky you'll get a glimpse of the gray fox that hangs around near by. There is a very easy to navigate ladder to the loft bed. This is not a negative (in fact the loft is delightful) but if you've got limited mobility something to consider.
Dave has a clean, fresh and quaint cabin that is secluded and very pretty. My husband, daughter and I thought the place was everything you need for a lovely getaway in the mountains. It's only about 10-15 minutes in either direction to Woodstock or Phoenecia. The scenery was beautiful and you are near hiking in every direction. We will definitely come again!
“secluded retreat, impressed by owner”
I have to give a shout out to David, the owner, for being so friendly and accommodating. If you are in a big hurry, his relaxed pace in working out details and getting you set up might not work for you, but if you are in a hurry, just go back to the city anyway. He seemed not just willing, but eager, to help me get the most out of my stay, and not just by providing necessities, comforts, and basic information. He printed out photos and maps to explain to me how I could hike on a trail he built to an overlook on his property, oriented me on some of the available public trails, interesting drives, odd things I could find in the woods such as an abandoned quarry, he walked around with me and indulged my questions about the local flora (I'm not from the region), and let me check out late. He contacted me after I left to say he had found both my camera battery chargers in the cabin, and shipped them to me. He refused to be reimbursed, saying "forget about it (that's a New York thing)". Thank you David!
“Surrounded by Nature”
This cozy cabin built was built by the owner. The picture window in living room brings the outdoors in. A window in the loft allows for a view of twinkling stars at night while resting on comfy mattress with plump duvet. Sounds of the playful creek lull you to sleep. The owner, David gives you your privacy while providing helpful information. An ideal place to stay when visiting Woodstock or nearby area.
“Perfect country cabin escape.”
My girlfriend and I spent a lovely peaceful night in this charming cabin. we would liked to have stayed longer if we had had the time. wonderful secluded location and genuine rustic charm. The owner David and his lovely wife were super nice and a joy to deal with.
Spent a perfect weekend in this beautiful, quirky, comfortable cabin, grilled on the deck, drank in front of the fire, played cards as darkness fell and felt complete relaxation. The perfect place to escape from the city. Will return / am dreaming of building my own cabin the same.
