Description of the Mount Vernon vacation cottage rental
Our Lodge sits ten feet from the lakeside and is part of a former boys camp now being operated by the original owners as a family camp. As part of the camp, the Lodge has many available amenities and activities. It is fully updated, has satellite tv and wireless internet and an additional sleeping cabin is available for extra guests. Our camp is very private and secluded yet offers most of the usual activities (fishing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking etc.) We are a family atmosphere and most of our guests have been returning every summer for many years.

Other cottages of varying sizes and price are also available upon inquiry. Please check out our internet site for more information. Camp Skoglund.

This was our family's 2nd year staying at this rental on Echo Lake. It is a great place! Clean, comfortable and has everything you need. The lake is very clean, perfect for fishing and swimming. Nice day trips all around the area, too. We will definitely come back!

My family has been going to Camp Skoglund for over ten years. It has become a gathering place for our whole family. It is our time to relax and reflect. It is like home but better. A great family location!!!!

Summertime, and the livin' is easy

If you want to 'get away from it all', this is your place. We have been going here for 21 years, always in June or September, and the loons keep calling us back, not to mention the fish! The lake is about 1 mile by 4 miles and it is spectacular. Fishing, boating, canoes, all 30 ft or less from your door. They have different sized places to acccomodate anyone, from a single individual to a family reunion. It is a good half mile off the road, so you really get a feeling of being in the woods. You could lay in your supplies and be Hemingway for a week or two, just sitting out on the dock looking at the lake. There is nothing more peaceful that I have found. While it is totally isolated, within an hours drive is Freeport (LL Bean, amongst other outlets), Portland, a beautiful thriving arty city, Augusta, museums, libraries and some of the most beautiful coastline in the country. Year 22 coming up!
