About the area

This property sits between beautiful Lake Michigan and the Marina. Lake Michigan is just a short 5 minute walk around the bend. There is an ice cream shop and play equipment right on the beach for the family. On Muskegon Lake, which is also around the corner, there are many interesting shops including Lakeside Emporium where they make much of their own candy and fudge. There are volleyball nets available for use and plenty of space to just lounge in the sun! The Lakes Mall is a wonderful place to do some shopping and is only 15 minutes away. Heritage Landing is located in downtown Muskegon. This hosts a wide variety of events all summer long. If you enjoy motorcycles, there is a new Harley Davidson shop right downtown. Bike week is hosted at Heritage landing at the end of July. Michigan Adventure is an exciting amusement/water park located only 30 minutes away. We can also get you an itinerary of what is happening in Muskegon during your planned visit. There is a winery in downtown Muskegon called Clay Avenue Cellars if you enjoy wine tasting. There is also a great cheese shop if you would like to explore new flavors. The shop is called The Cheese Lady and has an endless selection of cheese and a variety of wine. There is an amazing new brewery, Oddside Ales, with very unique beers available. This is located in Grand Haven, about 25 minutes away. All three businesses have websites, please check them out! There is a large binder in the home featuring many of the places you and your family may enjoy visiting. It will also help direct you to the best places for groceries, shopping, dining, etc. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

“Great vacation spot!”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2015

This hilltop hideaway was a great place to stay. It was a perfect location (short walk to Lake Michigan & an ice cream shop in the other direction), nice size for our family, & Alea was a great hostess. She is quick to respond when needed & goes the extra mile. I am hoping to return next year & would definitely recommend this home for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in West Michigan.

“Awesome August getaway”

This was our first time in Muskegon, our first vacation home rental, our first Unity Fest... A lot of firsts!! Alea met us at the house when we arrived... She showed us around & answered our questions before leaving us to settle in for the week. The house was perfect for our family! It was exactly what we saw in the pictures on the website!! We were able to enjoy the beach, walking the trails, learning the history of the area, meeting some of the 'locals', resting and relaxing at the house... and our main reason for vacationing in Muskegon... Attending the Unity Music Festival. We were close to everything we wanted to do & see. The location was perfect. We quickly realized that there was so much more to see & do than we possibly could in one week. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are seriously considering something we never do... Returning to the same place next year!!! Almost didn't want to post a review... Selfishly wanting to keep this hidden gem our little secret... But it's too good not to share!! We'll just have to book early to get our week next year!!!

“Our Days at the HidAway”

We were allowed to enter a bit earlier than our scheduled time and were met by Aleya and her two daughters who had posted a welcome sign and made us feel right at home. Everything was as described, plus, and it is lovely cottage. The drive up the driveway was a bit of a surprise, but nothing we couldn't handle. The mornings and the evenings on the screened in porch and everything we needed being there for our use was a distinct plus. Got to meet the owners too, and they are delightful. All in all our trip was definitely a memory trip to remember and we were able to do all we had set out to do. The Peterson's

“Perfect Hideaway”

We really enjoyed our stay here! Great location, close to one beautiful beach and within an easy drive of several more, yet also a short distance from restaurants, shops, and other attractions. We appreciated the quiet, relaxing neighborhood. A nice haven at the end of the day (or for a mid-day nap!) where it was cool and shady even on warm days. Local squirrels provided daily entertainment. We enjoyed lots of options for food, either cooking for ourselves in the well-stocked kitchen (we recommend fresh whitefish on the grill from the Fish Monger's Wife nearby!) or trying out Muskegon area restaurants. The binder of info about local attractions was helpful, and the area was easy to explore on our own. The cottage was clean and comfortable, with all the amenities, plenty of towels, chairs for the beach, etc. Plenty of room to spread out in - there were only two of us, but a family with a number of kids could still be comfortable here. This hideaway was central to a terrific, relaxing vacation for us. Thanks - hope to stay with you again soon!

“Just like home”

This house was amazing! It is our second stay at this home and I couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Its just the right size for a famiy of 5, we have 3 boys and they all could find omething to do. The house is stocked well with linens, games, dishes, cooking utensils, and just about anything else you need for your stay. It is well taken care of and very clean. We will be staying here again!

“Family Fun”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2012

Good location, just down the road from the beach. House had pretty much everything we needed, from pots and pans in the kitchen to bed linens and beach towels. Owners were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the local ice cream stop, Frosty Cove, and several playgrounds nearby. Great vacation for our family of five, which includes children from 2 1/2 to 5 years old. Would love to go again.

“Hilltop Heaven!”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2011

We stayed here for a small girls' trip in July 2011 and this home was perfect!! The kitchen was well-equipped and accommodated three cooks at a time (with one of us using the grill). The living areas were roomy with comfortable furniture as well. What our group enjoyed most about the house was the awesome screened in porch! When we were done with our day at Pere Marquette and Hoffmaster State Park after dinner we retreated to the screened in porch which was also set up like another living room! The bedrooms were cozy and restful. We all got terrific sleeps! Most of all this rental house feels like a home. You can tell the owner wants to treat her guests well so that they may relax on their vacation. It is so nice to have linens and towels provided plus a kitchen that has everything! Owner easy to deal with and extremely communicative. Great vacation rental!!! Thanks for a wonderful three days!!!
