Renters: beware of owners

December 18, 2012

My friends and I were looking for a place for a nice quiet get-together, but the owners evicted us out part way through our stay! If you are on the younger side (we are all in our early 30s), please take caution that the owners may regard you as a partier even if this is the farthest from the truth (as in our case)! Here is our story: Six of us were staying in the house for a few days, and also there was a seventh in the area for work who was staying in a hotel not too far away. We invited our seventh over for dinner and board games one night, and seeing as it was getting late, I thought it would be ok for him to sleep on the couch and leave in the morning, rather than drive home at night. Well, this turned out to be a big deal. Seeing an extra car in the driveway, the owners banged on our door at 7am that morning and demanded that we leave immediately or they would call the police! I explained our situation (we weren't trying to cheat them, just trying to extend a spur-of-the-moment courtesy to a friend), but they wanted $500 or we had to leave in 15 minutes. We did not damage their house in any way; we did not have any parties. Prospective renters be warned: you may be fine renting this place, and I hope your stay passes without incident. But if something cross their attention, you may find yourself suffering their wrath, without the smallest bit of common decency.

Very nice location. Close to Mystic and Stonington and many good restaurants. The accomodations were clean, comfortable and as promised. The house is showing some of it's age but still provides a nice vacation experience.

Al & Betty, Thanks for your nice comments! See you on your next visit to Mystic. Best, Richard & Margaret

"Get away From It all"
This summer rental is located on an island away from the traffic and on a quiet street. It has everything necessary to accommodate a get away for two or a family of four with room for 2 more. Every room is clean and comfortable. There are grocery stores, a fish market, and many restaurants are nearby. You can grab a salad at The Pita Spot or a more upscale meal at S&P; Oyster Co. or Bravo Bravo. The town of Mystic has many shops to explore and an art Festival in august, if you're so inclined. Mystic Seaport is minutes away, as are two casino's. There three wineries in nearby Stonington with tours and tastings, just a few miles down the road. Finally if you need to work on your tan, there is no beach but the deck is private and spacious. What we liked best was it was quiet.

Dear Joe and Mary,

Thank you so much for your kind words!

It was a pleasure to have the two of you as our guests. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our home, our large deck, and the Mystic area.

For our guests who wish to go to the beach, Williams Beach in Mystic (1/2 mile from our house) accommodates families with small children.

Misquamicut Beach, RI and Ocean Beach, New London CT are very large beaches only a short drive from our home.

Closer by, there are several very nice beaches, such as Esker Point Beach in Noank, CT and Dubois Beach in Stonington, CT, as well as Greens Harbor Beach in New London, CT and Hole-In-the-Wall Beach in Niantic, CT.

If you poke around Mason's Island, you will even find small beach spots along the coast.

Thank you for your very beautiful photographs of the sunrise and sunset as viewed from our deck.

We look forward to seeing the two of you again next year!

"A lovely restful location"
We stayed for two weeks at this lovely location. The house is lovely and spacious and generously furnished with lots of additional features not normally supplied in a holiday rental.
The owners made us very welcome and made the process of checking in and checking out very straightforward.
The location is perfect on Masons island. It is only minutes from the centre of Mystic and conviently a Big Y supermarket.
We had a lovely holiday which we hope to repeat soon.

Thank you so much for allowing us to rent your home in Mystic, Connecticut. We had a wonderful week full of rest, relaxation, and attending a family reunion. It was just what we were looking for with its beautiful views and welcoming neighborhood. The south deck was perfect for reading and having dinner outside. Having early morning coffee on the east deck with the sun rising was inspiring. We will miss the fresh air coming in through the doors and windows as well as the cheerful sound of birds going about their daily business. The many books and movies available were a great delight too. We look forward to coming back next year and bringing our family. Your home was a joy for us. Thank you.
