GREAT Location and Stay!
November 1, 2015
Pam, the owner of the location, was very easy to work with! The house keeper, Joanne, checked in on us to assure we made it safely and left us a sweet note and popcorn! My husband and I went to this house for our honeymoon - and absolutely LOVED the experience. This house was great to stay in and the hot tub was one of our favorite experiences! The whole experience was great, and the price for the accommodations was spectacular! Thank you for making our stay great!

Our fabulous getaway

Just what the dr. Ordered. A perfect place to get away from the stress of life. This place is very secluded in the forest on center hill lake. The lake is beautiful and it is easy to fish from shore. Imagine sitting on the back porch at night gazing at a sky filled with stars and no bugs! It's a short ride to cookville where you can find good restaurants. Or an hour ride to nashville to enjoy some great music. My wife went horseback riding twice, I fished often and had multiple areas to fish. We hiked everyday and also found abundant trails along rivers with multiple waterfalls. It was all good and hope to return someday

Beautiful view. Close to Burgess State Park. Went to Rock Island State Park. Mostly stayed at the Chalet and relaxed. Very quiet area. Great price! Will definitely return!

The house and lake view were great, I would suggest to tell guests ahead of time to bring mosquito, chigger, tic, repellent, the deck is under a canopy of trees and the bugs were vicious! Otherwise it was a good time!

The cottage was everything I expected. No hair dryer provided as stated in the amenities and with four ladies, that was a disappointment. The path to the lake was not cleared so we could only walk 3/4 of it. The cottage had a great view and we enjoyed our stay there. Perhaps trimming a few branches would enhance the view. It was a delight to sit in the hot tub at night and watch the beautiful fireflies. Just a little attention to some of the upkeep and I would have rated it 5 star.
I'm glad you all had a great time and had hoped you'd called or emailed me about the missing hair dryer, rather than calling while checking out. We only live 15 minutes away and I would've gladly brought you one. I do encourage my renters to communicate with me during their stay. The path to the lake is clear again, and it's been unusual maintenance for the past couple weeks, with the rain and storms lately. Thank you and hope to have you visit again next summer. Pam

Driving to the place was a nightmare, since we got there at night, driving through a dark graveled one way road, with brushes of grass was really difficult, we asked ourselves, where is the place? Are we there yet? There was no disclosure that there were steps to get to the chalet. my mother, and aunt who were in ther late 70's to 81 had to take those deep steps. It would have been better if all these information were included in the description of the place. The chalet was comfortable. It misses quite a bit of items for the kitchen. For us who prefers to cook, it was not easy to get our meals prepared.

Treacherous drop offs leading to chalet with only one lane dirt road and no place to turn around. There was only one lane and drop offs so hope you don't meet anyone on the road. We had two trees on the ground at the only spot to turn around and couldn't move them so had to back up a hill off the road to turn. We left without ever going into the chalet and were very disappointed as we had planned to have a graduation party for my niece there. No one would have had room to drive up there and park. The owner was aware of all this and I really felt we should have been informed as to the lack of parking and it really isn't a place for kids. We are not city folks but this would be very dangerous to drive in the dark and believe me was bad enough in the day time. I am on chemo and had driven 700 miles to get there with the four children and it made me sick. I was so disappointed and really couldn't afford to walk away from having paid $650. 00 in advance, but had to leave for our own safety. It was horrible driving up there and back. The owner didn't care that we had no where to stay and wouldn't reimburse our cost so we could put the children up in a hotel while we were there. I really feel we were scammed. The picture on line is not what the place looks like when you get there. ?? The picture has a stairway going up to the house and really the house has a one car garage and is level with the front of the house. The porch rail looks like a new white railing in the picture and in person that isn't there. We carried all the food for the trip frozen and wound up with all that food and no where to prepare it and it was thawing as each day went by. We had to buy four days of food for the kids and places to sleep so trust me it was a huge decision to walk away and not stay there. We really didn't feel it was a safe driving in and out of this property. Sad and disappointed in the owner!! She should show pictures of the drive up and believe me I have four wheel drive and my transmission was burning as I tried to turn around. It was scary. I can't say enough about how bad of an experience this was and how disappointed we were. I know some would enjoy the thrill of the drop offs but believe you should inform them ahead of time. I love the idea of the seclusion however the roads are another story. I would not just leave and have no place to go if I didn't really feel this was unsafe to drive.

We rented this property for a girls getaway. While the ad says secluded, it doesn't say how difficult it is to get to. It is a narrow, steep, winding gravel road. We rented this house mainly because of all the positive reviews, we didn't notice till later all but one review was years ago. Obviously the property has gone down since then. The carpet is worn to the plywood in places and duct taped down in others. The living room furniture is creepy nasty. The sliding doors to the deck wouldn't lock or even close all the way. The oven door handle has been replaced with a curtain rod with a sharp edge that will cut you if you bump into it. There are mice! The loft/3rd bedroom twin beds are nothing more than plywood boxes with foam rubber. Gas grill has rusted and elements are missing so now requires charcoal. The ad says 2 bath, it is only bath and half. There is no firewood for the wood burning stove and even if there were it is too close to the furniture to use. Mold inside and outside the shower. Light in half bath doesn't work. While I understand it is standard departure procedure to load dishes in dishwasher and start before leaving, ad says, full kitchen, but there is no dishwasher. Departure instructions say to wash and put away all dishes, wash and dry all towels and wash cloths. So, I'm washing dishes and doing laundry on my vacation. There were plenty of towels but only 6 wash cloths for 4 of us for 3 days. No bath soap is provided. I could go on but I just wanted to warn folks what to expect if you rent this property and not be disappointed, as we were. Renting this property ruined a much needed and anticipated getaway. The owner was trying to be helpful and offered to provide us with directions because she said Google directions were confusing, however the directions she provided were wrong and increased our trip time as well as stress levels. The owner was receptive to the criticism and said improvements were planned but that didn't make our stay any more pleasant. It was a nightmare!

The view of the lake is spectacular. The steps and hillside location not wheelchair accessible or conducive for folks with bad knees or walking issues. The upkeep was lacking. We noted several repair needs such as broken screens on sliding glass doors and windows, discarded shelving, old paint cans tossed in closets, very old, used furniture and carpet. On the plus side was that the owner came personally to bring charcoal and lighter fluid to use in the broken gas grill, the hot tub was ready, clean, relaxing. My dog had the freedom to roam from the cabin to the water's edge.

This place is unbelievable. There is not a bad thing to say about it. From our arrival to departure everything was great. This place is very secluded, great to stay and relax and enjoy! We did take a couple day trips to Nashville areas for sight seeing, I was surprised how quick we got there and back. The views are amazing of the lake and mountains. This was a great place for our family of 6. We cannot wait to come back this summer.

Beautiful view of the lake. Comfortable home, secluded from others. Had nice fires in the wood burning stove. Plan on an hour drive if you want to do things in Nashville. Only wish that some bath soap was provided.

I'm a city girl so the drive was a little scary for me but once I was there It was amazing. The perfect getaway w/my closest friends & fam. We rented this place for a weekend wedding. We got married on a friday and enjoyed the entire weekend surrounded by nature. The fireplace was cozy, the tub was so comfortable. After all the traveling, some of us drove 10hrs, others flew in, The hot tub was just what we all needed. This place was awesome. The nearest market was very friendly, And Nashville was about an hour away. My son & his dad went fishing for the first time near this cabin as well. We all made wonderful memories here.
Great Getaway For The Fall!!

We enjoyed our stay at the Slayden Cabin!! It was such a beautiful place in the fall. Everything we needed was all right there at the cabin. Being so close to the town of Lebanon we also spent some time shopping at the local antique shops and outlet malls. We also found some great meals at a few town eateries like Demos, The Bull & Whistle Pub and the Sunset Cafe!! We can't wait to plan a trip back to the Slayden Cabin real soon!!

Friends and I stayed here in September. The only good thing I can say about this place is the view from the deck is good. The access road is a one lane graveled mountain pass, one turn was so sharp we had to back up to make the turn. As for the loft the bed was a box built with a mattress of some sort, steps to the loft very steep. The queen bed had a cinder block for one leg. As far as I am concerned this place was very close to being a dump, I would not recommend this place for any reason.
Not kid friendly
October 11, 2010
The place is very well kept and clean. For as many people the chalet can accommodate sleeping they don't have a table big enough to fit everyone to eat. There is no dock on-site. The house is on the lake, but I wouldn't consider this a lakefront property. It is really hard to get to the lake from the house, and it is a definite no go for small children. Once down at the lake there is a little beach if the water is down. All the locals said the water was about 10 feet low. If it wasn't that low there would be no beach area at all. It is still difficult to get in the water because it drops off very quickly and the mud just swallows you, very difficult to get out. Almost dangerous. October isn't really peek swimming time, so if we would have planned to be on and in the lake the entire time we would have been extremely disappointed. There are some really amazing parks nearby that we really enjoyed. There is no yard, the house is literally on a hill. Not friendly for children to play outside at all.
Secluded and beautiful

Gorgeous views, private location, very clean cabin with all the amenities. The scenery made it feel like camping without the hassle. A full kitchen was available for cooking, but we were still close enough to the nearest towns to go out for dinner as well. We would absolutely stay here again.

The lake house we rented was nice. It could have been cleaner. Front bathroom, the tolet would not fill with water to flush. We had to fill thh tank each time. Th steps going to the house were unstable in places.

Lost potential customer
January 3, 2010
I inquired on-line about the property. I never received any response to my inquiry. We ultimately stayed someplace else. If i was a property owner with a listing with your company I would want to know of such appalinly ineffective and unresponsive practices. One cannot help but wonder how many other potential customers have fallen through the "cracks" in your system.

Beds were comfortable. The view was beautiful. There were several tv's in each room which were nice for everyone. The kitchen was nice to make breakfast in. However we could not get hot tub to work. The hill to the lake was very steep. My mom who is 68 could not get down the hill to fish. Noone wanted to drag the kayaks down hill. The road to the house was very trecherous for us. It was a one lane gravel road with very steep cliffs to the side. We did alot of sightseeing towards Nashville and Knoxville. The house was pretty nicely situated where the drive to each city was not to far. Cookville which was pretty close had alot of very nice restaurants, bowling and a very nice movie theatre which we made use of. We found Tennessee to be very beautiful. Overall we had a nice vacation.

We loved our stay in the cabin! It was truely a piece of heaven...beautiful views, very secluded, but close enough drive to go into the city! We loved it and plan to go again!!!
October 20, 2008
This chalet is indeed a hideaway, far from the beaten path and quite difficult to get to with a boat. We could have got the kayaks down to the lake but was no way we were going to be able to get them back up the steep hill - it is not an easy walk to the lake. Pleasant place, would not go back.

This was a great place that i and my three brothers spent the past Thanksgiving week together. The view was outstanding! The overall cabin was much better than any I have been in before. I am bringing my wife and kids back.

This is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking to get away from it all. The views of the lake are gorgeous, and the house is full of large windows. We stayed in November, and the foliage was breathtaking. The beds in the loft are very uncomfortable though, so I would recommend adding additional padding on the 4 beds.
