“Comfortable get-away in beautiful location”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2017

A terrific spot for a reunion of friends, we enjoyed the views of the river and the proximity to Gruene. Comfortable living room and a kitchen with all the amenities made it a great spot for a long weekend. Thanks to Chris for being easy to work with.

Everything we hoped it to be, and more!
We rented this house for a guys trip with several of my coworkers. Perfect location on the river. Great place to just sit back and relax and enjoy the sound of the river and wildlife. We took advantage of the tubes provided and just sat in the water all day! Fire pit was perfect at night to sit around and tell jokes and stories. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a large group looking for plenty of space and an all around good time.

Family get away
Our family of 12 were completely in love with the house and its amenities. We try to get away every 2 years together. None of the kids had ever done tubing or been on the river so this was ideal. The kayaks and floats were an absolute hit with everyone. The house was so roomy we could spread out and get out of each others way when needed. It is always a question as to how the beds will be but we were all so happy with them, no complaints at bedtime. The well stocked kitchen with everything labeled made cooking and cleaning so easy. We loved to barbecue outside and have marshmallow roasts at the fire pit. The old and young alike relaxed on the large deck to watch the wildlife right in the back yard. The quiet surroundings and the closeness to Gruene, and New Braunfels was ideal. We have already said we need to come back and I know we will. We did not get to do everything we wanted to or to see everything either. Thanks for keeping this house so family oriented no matter what age you are. WE LOVED IT!

Awesome House
We rented the house for my wife's 40th Birthday and it could not have been any better, start to finish. The house was 100% as represented and details like spices, quality toilet paper, and kitchen utensils were ALL included. Everything was clean and in working order. The owner, Chris, was extremely responsive from the beginning to end and our group had a fantastic time. I've rented places all over the Gulf Coast and even in NYC, they don't come anywhere close to what is delivered here!

Matriarch
We rented the Gruene River house for our mini family reunion of 12, ages 15-83! It was the perfect spot for us! We are a family of cooks, and this was the best kitchen we have ever had in a rental- well organized, well equipped, roomy, and great workspace! We all loved the beautiful riverbank setting! It was so enjoyable to sit by the Guadalupe under stately pecan trees and visit, read, fish, or NAP! This is a keeper for future vacations!

Great Bachelor Party weekend
Excellent weekend with old friends ... all in our 30s. Didn't even go in town all weekend, because of how wonderful the property was. Would recommend for family and/or friend events for sure.

Great house for large groups!
This house was incredible for our large group this May! There was plenty of room to spread out. Our group especially enjoyed the game room, which offered some privacy for the kids! The property was incredible and our time around the fire pit at night was priceless! The view to the river is wonderful and we all enjoyed kayaking the river right from our house. We will definitely rent this property again next time we have a large group! Thanks for the memories!

Repeat Customer - Happy Again!
My friends and I rented the property 3 years ago and loved it so much, we did it again. Our most recent stay was a huge success and the float trip as well. Working with the property owner, who is very responsive, we planned a 4 hour float trip with round trip transportation just minutes away from the property. A float upstream and finishing at the residence is also a good option, as the scenery and water is beautiful. The home is "move in ready" and has all the amenities, including charcoal for the grill, right at your finger tips. You will not be disappointed!

2nd Annual Family Fest- Splendid!
We all enjoyed our first stay so much, we decided to do it again this year.
We found it to be even better than last year...! All the personal touches were still there, and we were happy to discover even more amenities in this great home. The addition of a second refrigerator in the rec room was perfect for us. Cooking & eating is a big part of our family fun, and refrigerator storage is always an issue. Also a bigger selection of large pots & pans, spices, storage containers and every appliance we needed. (blender, slow-cooker and two coffee pots) Free Wi-fi for all our techno-gadgets, ample firewood for our nightly campfires, fishing tackle and kayaks.
The home and backyard is so well arranged and comfortable, and provides ample spaces for either large group gab sessions or private quiet spots for reflection.
Chris is kind and gracious and a most perceptive and accommodating host. He genuinely wants his guests to enjoy their time spent at Gruene River House. We can hardly wait until our 3rd annual visit comes around! :-)
