“A room with a view”
My friend and I spent two glorious weeks staring at the sea, drinking our morning tea on the deck, and eating way too much lobster at the nearby village of New Harbor. The cottage was just right for two friends, with two bedrooms, a lovely living room area with a full kitchen, and a dramatic view of crashing waves on the rocks less than 50 feet from our door. We drove into Damariscotta, a delightful Maine village, for shopping, book browsing, and an afternoon latte. The weather was cool and breezy; some days we needed jackets, and other days we lived in our t-shirts. Our hosts recommended local restaurants, boat rides, and other day trips. I highly recommend The Loft if you are looking for a quiet retreat with a dynamite view.
I have been MANY places around the world, and the beauty of Maine where we stayed, surpasses all. I was in awe of the coastal location, right ON THE COAST! Our stay and accommodations were perfect... Owners were very friendly. I will definitely go back! I give this place an A+!
Owner's reply: We're very glad you enjoyed your stay. We're happy to share our special corner of the world with our guests.
“Very enjoyable vacation”
This is a beautiful place to enjoy the rocky coast of Maine. The loft is a charming, very clean, bright and comfortable place with a breathtaking view of the ocean. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, pots & pans and any utensils needed to prepare a full meal. A very well stocked grocery store is just minutes away along with many nearby excellent restaurants to choose from. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the lobster boats, smelling the ocean air, listening to and watching the waves crashing against the rocks below. All in all a very peaceful relaxing vacation. Also, we thank the Wales for being so friendly and helpful and for giving us the opportunity to experience this beautiful place.
Owner's reply: Mark and family were great guests and we enjoyed having them. It was their first time in Maine and their first viewing of the Atlantic Ocean. We're always glad to be able to share this beautiful spot with others. Thanks for your nice comments.
“wish it was a secret”
What a great find! Incredible views, nicely appointed two bedroom cottage. Wonderful hosts/owners live next door. Plenty to do within a few miles including the day trip to Monhegan Island and great restaurants and galleries.
Owner Supplied Testimonials
My wife and I have rented "The Loft" from Tom and Becky Wales for many years during August. During July we have rented ocean front property in Maine from Bailey Island north to Owl's Head along the rocky coast.
There are reasonably few ocean front homes at summer rental in Maine. "The Loft" has one of the best ocean views of all and is situated just about 100 feet from huge rocks and the breaking waves sending spray into the air and lulling you to sleep at night. The place is located on a road lined with high value homes, most with year round residents. So, this is not 'touristy' but upscale.
The house itself is attractive and as artistic as your own home. It is not a cabin. The front living area and kitchen is replete with floor to ceiling sliding doors to an outside deck. The two bedrooms have comfortable beds and storage. The bathroom is modern. The kitchen is both modern and complete.
Nearby Shaw's Lobster pier is outstanding. Several miles south dining at the
Bradley Arms is elegant. Convenient in the small port town of New Harbor is a complete grocery and liquor store, bank, garage, and hardware store. A golf course is nearby.
This is our home away from home while we are there. It is unique. Enjoy!
