Area Information
A true local's neighborhood with coffee shops, groceries and restaurants within walking distance. Neighbors include the Musicians' Union, Esplanade Studios - New Orleans new premiere recording studios where John Legend, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, among others recently recorded and The Joan Mitchell Center, situated behind the property, offering residencies to visual artists and recently completed a $20 million renovation.

One of the quietest, most scenic and most historic major thoroughfares in New Orleans, Esplanade Avenue is a hidden treasure running through the heart of the Crescent City and is the east border of the French Quarter. From its beginning at the foot of the Mississippi River levee to its terminus at the entrance to City Park, Esplanade is best seen at a slow pace.

Esplanade Ridge is characterized by elegant two- and three-story townhouses and a large number of whitewashed, black-trimmed Creole mansions surrounded by wrought iron fences and neatly manicured lawns and gardens.
Attractions within Walking Distance
New Orleans Museum of Art (1 Collins Diboll Circle) - This museum is less than a mile walk to the right as you exit the front door. It is located in the heart of City Park, which has several other attractions including golf courses, tennis and an amusement park.

St. Louis Cemetery (3421 Esplanade Ave.) This is the cemetery where most of the tour companies in the French Quarter take their guests. It is right before City Park on your right. You may be able to join one of the tours in progress or just walk around on your own for free.

Street Car (Carrollton Avenue near the end of Esplanade and City Park) - The street car will take you down Canal Street to the French Quarter and all the sights there.
Nearby Restaurants
Lil' Dizzy's Cafe (1500 Esplanade) - This is a favorite place to go on Sundays for the buffet. It is located nine blocks away towards the French Quarter in the heart of Treme. Great Creole Gumbo, fried chicken, etc.

Liuzza’s By the Track (1518 N. Lopez St.) - A great “Hole-in-the-wall” restaurant and bar with the best Gumbo and Barbeque Shrimp Poboys in New Orleans. Enjoy!

Café Degas (3127 Esplanade Ave.) - French Bistro with European style dining with reasonable prices and local seafood.

Lola’s (3312 Esplanade Ave.) - Spanish Bistro with great local dishes.

Nonna Mia (3125 Esplanade Ave.) - Good pizza and Italian dishes, they will deliver to the house. Right past Café Degas.

Santa Fe (3201 Esplanade Ave.) - Southwestern with a local twist. Great margaritas. Live jazz on Thursday nights.

Whole Foods (300 N Broad St.) - selling the highest quality natural and organic products available, it seems I stop in every is approximately 8 blocks from the property

Terranova’s (3308 Esplanade Ave.) - I can’t recommend this grocery enough. They have all your basic needs plus a meat market featuring some local specialties including house made sausage. Try the pork chops stuffed with hot-sausage. I coat the pork chops with olive oil and season with Creole Seasoning (rub in) then cook at 400 degrees for about an hour. Right next to Lola’s.

Canseco’s ( 3135 Esplanade Ave.) - Right past Santa Fe, this store has a little larger selection than Terranova’s.

Swirl Wine Bar & Market (3143 Ponce De Leon St.) - Casual wine shop & lounge featuring a range of bottles, plus beer, cheese plates & tasting events. Located next to Canseco's

Pagoda Cafe ( 1430 N Dorgenois St.) - Coffee – Breakfast – Lunch Made with love. Seriously. Located directly behind the property, this coffee shop welcomes customers from all over the city. Try the breakfast tacos!

Fairgrinds Coffee House (3133 Ponce de Leon) - Great coffee and pastries, plus live music at night.

CC's Coffee House (2800 Esplanade Ave.) - Try the Ice Chocolate Mochassippi.
91 bus stops right in front of the property and can take you to the French Quarter and Central Business district. The bus stops half block away going towards City Park and Bayou.
