Description of the New Paltz vacation home rental
This incredible, newly-built home is nestled on three sides by private old growth forest with a meadow on the southern side for maximum solar gain in winter. Large white oak trees hug the southern side providing natural cooling shade in summer. The radiant floor heat along with other energy efficient building design features minimizes our carbon footprint establishing us as an environmental leader in lodging.

The red tail hawks, barred owls, and pileated woodpeckers return yearly to nest in our woods. In the spring you'll wake up to the mating calls of wild turkey, and at dusk owls and coyotes announce their presence. The white-tailed deer make their home here and can be seen throughout the day.

In keeping with providing as clean an environment as possible, we use only chemical free, environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Each suite has a state-of-the-art heating and air conditioning system dedicated to your room alone. You select your own temperature and humidity. The ductless air conditioning system operates whisper quiet and the active carbon and electrostatic fiber filters clean the air of unpleasant odors and small particles. The system also has an Ion generator that improves air quality by eliminating biological contaminants, such as viruses, bacteria, and mold. Relaxed breathing can be achieved with cleaner, healthier air.

Each of the 6 large and luxurious bedrooms has its own seating area and private full bathroom. These bedroom suites help you to relax privately.
Area Information
We are nestled at the foothills of the Shawangunk Mountains, with more than 60 acres of private estate to explore. Across from this lovely wooded estate is the Verkeerderkill Town park which boasts one of the cleanest mountain rivers populated by native trout according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This river originates on the edge of Sam's Point Preserve. A 5 minute drive brings you to Sam's Point Preserve

Perched atop the highest point of the Shawangunk Ridge, south of Mohonk and Minnewaska State Park Preserves, lies Sam's Point Preserve - 5,400 acres sheltering one of the best examples of ridgetop dwarf pine barrens in the world. Home to nearly 40 rare plant and animal species and three rare natural communities, the northern Shawangunks represent one of the highest priorities for conservation in the Northeastern U.S.A.

Even closer than Sam's Point is the Ellenville Flight Park, the country's most complete, privately owned Hang Gliding and Paragliding operation. It has a take off altitude of 1,350 feet and a 30 acre landing field where their shop is located

For true bird watching enthusiasts nothing compares to the Bashakill Wetlands consisting of 3,000 acres. It is home to over 200 species of birds, 30 varieties of fish, including the remarkable, 'prehistoric' bowfin; and many plants, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and insects. It is an unforgettable experience to be present during the birds migratory flights in the Spring and Fall. The cacophony of sounds and flights is extraordinary. The Bashakill is the largest freshwater wetland in Southeastern New York, provides a unique and peaceful place for boating, photography, bird watching, painting, hiking, hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, wildflower discovery, cross-country skiing and other outdoor activities

We are located just over an hour drive from New York City, and minutes from the Shawangunk Wine Trail representing 14 different award-winning Vineyards

If antiquing and auctions are your passion, this is the right location for you! We are 2 minutes from Flannery's Auction & Estate Services, a premier auction venue operating approximately every other Monday night. Other Auction houses and Antique stores litter the area.

If you enjoy varied and fine dining, a multitude of choices are available to you. Running the gamut from Organic and Free-Range, Vegetarian, Austrian, German, Mexican, Japanese, Korean etc. restaurants abound

Absolutely perfect New Year's Rental!

My friends and I have a yearly tradition of going away together for New Year's and each year we rent a house somewhere in the mountains. This was our fifth year and possibly our best house yet. Joseph, the property owner, was extraordinarily responsive any time we had questions or needed to reach out and he and his fiancee have equipped the property with everything a rental group could ever need. The king size beds, en-suite bathrooms, full kitchens (two!) and just general layout of the house were greatly appreciated by all. I think we all also appreciated that this was a modern house with full amenities. We have stayed in many old Victorian style houses and while they have their charm, they're often drafty and sometimes musty. This house was in impeccable condition and incredibly clean and comfortable. We were a group of 16 and we had plenty of room for everyone. Two large flat screen tvs (including one web-enabled) were great for movie watching. The surrounding area couldn't be nicer. The house is very private and feels like a retreat even though it's minutes from the closest town and only 1.5 hours from NYC. The local supermarket was well stocked and there are tons of local wineries and interesting little shops nearby to check out. We really couldn't have asked for more. We would recommend this property without hesitation!
