Climate

All four seasons are experienced in Hunter Mountain, making it a recreational playground for visitors year-round. When visiting, pack layers as the temperature varies based on your elevation. During the summer, temperatures typically hover in the 80s and rarely exceed 90 degrees F.  At night, the temperature can drop 20 degrees when you’ll want to add a layer. On a clear day, you can see the Green Mountains of Vermont and the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts. Also at the summit, don’t miss the hand-carved sculpture of Rip Van Winkle that sits there. Another popular activity in the area is fishing. Let Hunter Mountain Fly Fishing School take you out for the day and then patiently wait to catch your fish.

During the winter, Hunter Mountain activities revolve around the snow-covered slopes. Whether it’s skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing, visitors will enjoy the beauty and camaraderie found outdoors. At the summit, catch your breath and take in panoramic views of the area from the Hunter Mountain Fire Tower. Take a thrilling ride in an inner tube at Hunter Mountain, which has the largest snow tubing park in New York or get your adrenaline pumping at one of the three terrain parks on site.
