Fantastic place to stay

May 28, 2014

The Dardinskis are such gracious hosts. After a long flight into Boston, we arrived very late into Newburyport (2am) and they left the light on for us and even had coffee for us, ready to be made in the morning when we finally got up. The space is light, airy, and wonderfully decorated with paintings (perhaps by a local artist?) and if you look at the photo in the living room, of the rock climbers, you can see what the owners are up to when not busy with making this rental space pristine and welcoming. We especially enjoyed the gas fireplace in the cool early mornings with coffee and a book from the many choices the owners have placed in the library. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the dishes, pots, pans, and glassware we needed to host several dinners with family. The location is just a short walk to town, the rail trail, and to the walkways along the river and oceanside. My husband had some editing to do and appreciated the quiet residential area in which to work. We highly recommend this place to any couple who wants to spend some time in Newburyport. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you Alex and Kate for making such an inviting vacation rental!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is your neighborhood like?
A: We are about 9-10 blocks and a 10+ minute walk from Newburyport's State Street which the heart of the downtown. Our neighborhood is very residential but we do have a few small businesses and restaurant's along Merrimac Street which is only 200 or so feet away. We are situated between very quiet Cushing park and the large riverfront Cashman park. Both have playgrounds. You can walk from Cashman park all the way along the river into the heart of downtown crossing only one street. It is a very walkable location.
Q: Why don't you allow pets?
A: We love pets! So much so that we have 3 of our own. 2 completely indoor cats that you would never see and a dog that is great but can be less great around other dogs. We decided to eliminate the unpredictability of canine relationships from the equation. We hope you will understand.
Q: Who are you're typical renters?
A: Visiting grandparents top the list, which as been great especially when the grandkids or local families come over for a visit. But we have also had young families in housing transition, and vacationers to our historic seaport town. We have yet to have professionals on assignment but we are perfect match for you!
Q: We want to come to newburyport and be active what are the options?
A: You sound like our kind of people! We have two kiddos under 4 and thus a great collection of recently underused bikes, kayaks, etc. Let's talk! Newburyport has some fantastic options in town and regionally. This is a major boating town with lots of water related activity, including deep sea fishing, sailing charters, wale watches, interpretive tours, and kayak rentals. This is also a world class birding location with an Audubon educational facility and a 6 mile long federal wildlife refuge along the coastline. Being right on the coast we have mile of incredible beaches. Kate and Alex are great tour guides that know the local road bike loops, mountain bike spots, kayak channels, climbing gym, surf spots, equipment renters and outdoor shops. We also can set you off on a well planned trip to the White Mountains, Maine lakes etc. New England is our playground.
