About the area

Secluded Lake Lodge is in the heart of Amish country. You can see their horse & buggies in the streets of Newcomerstown or at the old historic hardware store which has wooden floors & everything you might need. There is Yoders Amish Family farm just 50 minutes from the lodge which takes you on a buggy ride, a walk into the barn with all the animals including puppies & kittens. A walk through the farm house gives you insight into their clothing and family dynamics. The school house is quite interesting and the gift shop has hand made items. Fresh baked goods are available in the kitchen. There are Amish restaurants on the way to the farm. Another historic place to visit is Rosco Village just 30 minutes from the lodge . This is an old canal town in which to ride in a canal boat, walk the brick streets with historic brick buildings with curio, ice cream shops, fine dining at the Warehouse restaurant with a nice outdoor patio in which to enjoy a nice lunch. Locals in the shops wear period costume & there is a visitor center to help you get the most of your experience. Just 25 minutes from the lodge there is Ravens Glen that has wine tasting & fine dining. There are beautiful views of the Tuscarawas river & a golf course if seated by the large windows. There is quite a nice varied menu & great service at Ravens Glen. A local country kitchen restaurant is only 10 minutes from the lodge for breakfast. There is an IGA grocery store that makes broasted chicken when you call in your order. You need to take the 10 minute drive to pick it up. It is mouth watering with potato wedges.

“Back to nature”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2015

if you are looking to get "back to nature" this is the place to go. Quiet and serene with nature abounding. We did not want a "party spot" we wanted a place to reconnect with each other and nature and this place is perfect. My daughter is a photographer and she was in her glory here. Our grandson learned to fish with the help of his Papa and caught two fish ! (of course we put them back ). There are firepits at both the house and lake and the picnic shelter at the lake was so very nice. There is even a charcoal grill at both house and lake. We will be back for sure !! Thank you Pamela, we are so glad we found you and we will be back !!

Owner's reply: The comments are just what I had envisioned for guests to experience. So glad as always to get returning guests. The property is just great to get away from it all & have fun with family & friends

“A Place to Find Peace”

Reviewed 23 Jan 2014

We stayed 3 nights at the Lake Lodge and wish we could have stayed for the rest of the month. You walk in and feel like you've come home. Great set up, clean, clutter free, environment perfect for two, or for a large group. We had two other couples join us for a retreat and had lots of room. big kitchen with everything we needed. There was a big and fabulous DVD and board Game collection. I can't stress enough I felt like I had come to a second home. And the Girls LOOOOOVED the pillows! where did you get them! The 80 acres were a dream to explore, lots of fresh air surrounded by hills you feel like you are the only one for miles. When by the lake you are surrounded by the peace of the woods. Our second night we got a few inches of snow (glad we had no where to go!) and we saw deer tracks, fox, coyote, and bunny tracks from the night before. We did hunt in the evening of the first night but did not have deer that came by our stands. The property manager was kind and friendly, we enjoyed meeting him and his wife. All in all a great place to press the reset button. Sad We had to leave and hope to plan another trip as soon as we can. Maybe next time with our kids as there would be lots for them to explore, and an opportunity for board games and movies when the sun goes down. We left with memories we will keep for a lifetime and the peace that comes from getting back to nature and the simple pleasures of friendship.

Owner's reply: All beds have new sheets, mattresses & pillows. The lodge is spottless since I have a very thorough cleaning lady. The walk from the lodge to the lake is through the woods & only takes 10-15 minutes. It is very private & you have the lodge, lake & all 80 acres to yourself. The lodge has a timeless & carefree atmosphere & the woods & lake are enchanting.
