“Feel like you're home!”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2016

From the moment my husband, I and our two pups arrived we knew we picked the right home for our three month stay. We were stocked with fresh baked goodies, assorted cereals, milk, orange juice, water, tea, banana bread and treats for our puppies! The back yard was amazing our pups loved it. Mike works very hard on the yard and their beautiful garden. We loved being walking distance to the mansions, cliff walk, lower Thames shopping and so much more. There is a park directly across the street where our pups could socialize. Mike and Terri go out of their way to take care of their guests. We even had full use of their kitchen which was nice that we didn't have to eat out all the time. We know we will be coming back to Newport and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else! We came there as strangers and left as part of the family.

“Superlative!”

My stay can only be described in superlatives. My host and hostess were the best a traveler could wish for. And, my hostess' baked goods are beyond compare!

Owner's reply: Thank you! We were happy to host you and we look forward to your return trip!

Excellent location, spacious, very clean
Date of Stay: May 13, 2015
We just stayed at Hawthorne House and had a wonderful time. Very convenient location to all the sites. The suite is kept spotless and is well appointed with everything to be comfortable. Including delicious banana bread and fresh cookies. Mike and Terri are great hosts and are knowledgeable since they are from Newport. Our little dog felt at home as well. We will definitely plan on going back there again. I would highly recommend Hawthorne House. Cheryl H.

A Newport treat
Date of Stay: May 23, 2015
Hawthorne House is a lovely get away, near enough to the "action" of Newport but far enough for peace and quiet. The suite is spacious, very clean, and very well organized. Mike and Terri are great hosts and really have thought of everything...maps and magazines and even rainy day activities. It was a shame that we were only there for two days! SCTransplant

Hawthorne House - Newport RI
Date of Stay: June 5, 2015
We booked the Hawthorne House as I and my daughter were running in the Newport 10 Miler race. As it was right on the race course, it made it very convenient to Fort Adams where the start was and close enough to bike in to avoid traffic! The suite is spacious and very clean. Terri and Mike were great hosts and accommodating to allow us a little extra time at check out so we could shower after the race. My husband and son in law were able to cheer us on from right out front of the house! The location is great, close to Newport attractions. We plan on going back next year! Kathy S.

Spectacular Hospitality at the Fitch's - Hawthorne House
Date of Stay: June 13, 2015
My wife and I spent three wonderful days at the Hawthorne House in Newport. The accommodations were immaculate and absolutely lovely! Our entire experience from reservations through to leaving was seamless. Terri and Mike are wonderful hosts, and did I mention Terri's yummy banana bread? The accommodation is true to its description and even better. It is conveniently located to the Breakers and other Newport mansions, thereby encouraging you to take a wonderful walk through Newport. We enjoyed the afternoon sun on the deck and their gracious hospitality. We will definitely come back again! Conrad and Sue

Highly Recommend the Hawthorne House

I loved my week in this charming B&B. Terri and Mike were so accommodating. The place was quiet and had all needed conveniences; love the deck. I spend time with a lot of family and friends while in Newport, so this was the perfect place to rest and relax at days end. Convenient location. Would definitely stay there again. Patti C.

A True Gem In Newport
Date of Stay: November 25, 2015
Hawthorne House perfectly met our needs for a Newport Thanksgiving week. The description and photos are what you get and more. Hospitality, friendly accommodating service when needed. Supplied with the basics in the refrigerator and delicious baked goods. This B&B is located within 5 to 10 minutes to the Cliff Walk, Mansions, Ocean Drive, Historic Newport and all it has to offer but just outside of the congestion, which is a good thing. My husband and I are small breed dog owners and I am physically challenged, so finding your lovely B&B was a blessing. Thank you and I would not hesitate to recommending your establishment or stay at the Hawthorne House next time I can visit Newport. Mark & Terri

Couldn't ask for more!!
Date of Stay: August 10, 2014
Hawthorne House is the perfect place for anyone seeking a respite from the touristy side of the Newport experience, yet ideally situated so as to provide a customized mix of all possibilities. Absolutely anything that could have occurred to us to need or want was offered here, from the thoughtful and varied breakfast options (truly something for everyone!) to the extra balls that Mike found for our children to get their wiggles out with on their huge lawn. There is even bug repellent on the outdoor table by the grill and a nightlight to put in the bathroom for the kids! For the tired parents, a really lovely bedroom to collapse into in the evenings. Even Papa couldn't think of one more thing that we might have needed...I often overpack and this was literally the first time that someone who thinks like me :) stocked a space! Even new bottles of water for this thirsty family kept reappearing faster than I could count! Relatives who live in the area and came over to visit us at HH were amazed by the thought that went into every single aspect of our stay. My two are still talking about the Terri fairies!!! Thank you Terri & Mike---we can't wait to come back!! Yankees fan
