About the area

Before the sun comes up on the Pend Oreille River Valley, you'll often see bald eagles and osprey fishing on the water in front of the lodge. If you like to fish, you may want to join them before the sun warms up the morning air. Bring your boat and cruise through calm water exploring the many islands along the river and have a picnic lunch when you find a sandy beach that suits you. Located on a section of the river with 55 miles of boatable water, this is the best water skiing in the entire region. Only 8 miles from historic downtown Newport where you will find shopping, restaurants, banking, a local movie theater, parks and whatever else you may desire from a small town. The Camas Wellness Center only 12 minutes away has water slides, 4 swimming pools, a 33' rock climbing wall, state-of-the-art fitness equipment and spa. Numerous golf courses and if you like to ski, 49 Degrees North Ski Resort is only 26 miles from the front door of the lodge. Sandpoint Idaho, home of Schwietzer Mountan Ski Resort, is only 38 miles east. The area also boasts some excellent local microbreweries and wineries. At the end of the day relax on the large deck that overlooks the river or take in some of the local night life in Newport, Priest River or nearby Sandpoint, ID. Each summer the area hosts several events including the Newport Rodeo, Priest River Timber Days, Lost in the 50's classic car show and The Festival at Sandpoint featuring outdoor concerts on the lakeshore.

“Great Family Spot”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2016

We took our three very young daughters here for spring break. The house was more than big enough (we only used the top two floors and there were 3 more bedrooms downstairs), and very nice and clean. What really made this spot though was the location. The property has a very private waterfront on the river. We were able to let our dogs just run and swim all day. We spent the days on beach blankets fishing from the shore (decent fishing) and relaxing. The cabin was a great homebase for local exploration as well. I was able to mountain bike/fish in the many lakes and roads north of the cabin. We also took a day trip to Priest Lake which is a beautiful area. Overall it was probably the best trip our family has taken and very relaxing. We highly recommend it.

“Great Family Vacation”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2015

We needed a place for 12 people for the 4th of July week. This place was perfect! The views of the river/mountains from the main floor of the house and deck are amazing. What a great view to wake up to every morning. There is plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed boating and swimming on the beach everyday. 8 members of our crew brought along river tubes to tie together for a 3 hour float right to the lodge. The fishing was great and fun for all. We mostly caught bass and a few trout. 4 members of our family went to one of the nearby mountain lakes, rented a boat for 4 hours and fished on the lake. Kids loved the game room with the pool table and video games for the evening. There are plenty of beds and 3 1/2 bathrooms is ideal for this size of group. The kitchen has a large refrigerator and a commercial cook stove which was the envy of the cooks. A built in griddle made the best pancakes, french toast, hash browns and eggs cooked to order. There is a property manager on site, Lana, who is helpful and pleasant. Chad, the owner, is very responsive and professional and answered all of our questions pre-arrival. All in all, the entire family found the lodge and surrounding area had lots to do, and we were never bored. Lodge is only 8 miles from a grocery store for those last minute items and extra ice. It's a great place for relaxation and summer fun. Everyone left stating it was a great family vacation!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review Linda! It is sometimes difficult for a large group to keep the lodge clean and tidy but you somehow managed to keep the place spotless. We look forward to seeing you again next summer or this winter for a ski weekend :) Chad

“Arrowhead Ranch”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2012

I would recomend Arrowhead Ranch Lodge to anyone who is looking for a quite place to relax with family members. We had an excellent time while we were there. It is only a 40 minute drive to Silverwood, close to state parks or just a nice place to relax and play in the river. The property manager was great he never bothered us but was their if we needed him. There was also a lot of indoor activies like a pool table, numerous games and videos. I can only imangine what a beautiful stay this home would be in the winter. Thank you Chad for letting us use your home and thanks to Mike, property manager, for being so nice.

Owner's reply: Thanks for the great review Joyce, we're glad you had an enjoyable stay. We hope to see you guys for your next Ski/Snowboard vacation. Cheers Chad
