Description from owner
L'Art des amis (the art of friends) is a beautiful one-bedroom penthouse apartment on the 6th floor (7th U.S.) with a large south-facing terrace of a beautiful Belle Époque building in the Musicians Quarter in central Nice, 5 blocks off the beach, directly behind the Negresco Hotel. Step into the antique cage elevator and be swept up to a romantic vacation escape you will never forget! Facing south, warm sunlight floods the apartment from morning till sunset. French doors in the living room, kitchen, and bedroom open onto balconies where you will enjoy the breezes and rooftop views towards the sea. (That French flag you see fluttering in the distance tops the Negresco.) The art of personal friends is featured throughout.
Remodeled to bring it closer in feeling to the architecture of the Belle Époque period, the apartment features new wood flooring in the living room and bedrooms and period tile set in the entry and kitchen. The kitchen cabinetry has been completely replaced and matching wainscoting installed along with all new appliances and granite countertops. Step through the French door onto to balcony and enjoy petit déjeuner in the sun at your café table for two. Dishes, glassware, flatware, espresso maker and kitchen utensils are all provided should you choose to try your hand at Niçoise cooking. The living room features a black George Nelson-inspired couch for 3 and a comfortable modern 'lipstick' armchair. Flat screen TV, DVD, and internet access provided. The glass coffee table design is by Isamu Noguchi (1948), end tables by Eileen Gray (1927), and glove table lamp by Wilhem Wagenfeld (1924.) While this is actually an 'adult' apartment experience, children are welcome!

Owner Supplied Testimonials
June 2016 from Paul H:
"We had an amazing 11 nights at L'art des Amis, the apartment was spotless and beautifully decorated with some lovely individual art pieces scattered around the rooms. There is no air con in the room, but you don't need it due to the sea breeze coming through. 10 minute walk to the train station and only 15 minutes to the promenade. Restaurants only 10 minute walk too. Would definitely recommend this apartment to our friends and family. Paul and Ellie"
June 2016 - Kitty & Murray: "We enjoyed this wonderful apartment for 10 days during Euro 2016. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped, and the wi-fi, tv, and appliances as good as at home. The location is convenient for the tram and the #38 bus (practically outside the door). Breezes provided cross ventilation; be sure to use the door stops to prevent slamming doors! As I injured my leg in the outward journey, the elevator was very welcome. Frank & Don responded promptly to any communication. They have created a "dream in the sky" which they are gracious enough to share with renters. Artwork quirky and fun!"
March 2016: My wife and I recently enjoyed a five night stay at this lovely apartment. We chose it for the location, photos and excellent reviews. We were not disappointed. The location is a short walk to/from the railway station, beach promenade and shopping. The apartment itself is quiet, light and airy with lots of large patio doors and great rooftop views. All of the appliances and electronics functioned as they should and as a bonus, we had use of an actual telephone. I agreed with one review that made the rare comment that this apartment was even more attractive than the photos. Perhaps because of all the original artwork. "The owners made the booking process simple and were eager to provide any assistance possible to make our stay better. I would highly recommend booking L'Art des Amis for a stay in Nice. February 2016 Heidi & Christoph:
Vielen Dank nochmals an Sara. Heidi & Christoph
July 2015 Michael C: "This apartment is extraordinary! It floats above the surroundings with 3 mini terraces to connect with the real world! Please stay here if you come to Nice! What more can I say! Okay a little more although it is a small it is really enormous because of the exposure via tall windows to the outside!"
April 2015 Anthony & Chantal: "This was our second stay. We stayed the same time last year. It is a great location, walking distance to everywhere. Close to the Trams on Av Jean Medécin. The apartment has everything needed for a guest and also has a quaint balcony facing south on which to sip rosé wine. A very comfortable setting in a quiet neighbourhood, yet so close to all that is required. We would stay again the next time we visit Nice."
August 2014 Natasha R.: "This was the third time we selected the l'Art des Amis for our summer stay in Europe. Everything was as expected and just perfect!"
July 2012 Diane G.D.: "I spent four night, three days in this lovely apartment, which is exactly as pictured and described. It has all the mod cons and, most importantly, has comfortable furnishings. I loved the big red velvet chair and the canopy bed. Ventilation was good, especially in the evenings when the summer breeze was better than air conditioning, and it was never too hot. Great location - it was an easy walk from the train station and just a few blocks to the beach to enjoy the Bastille Day fireworks. Good communication from the owners who promptly answered all questions. I'm very pleased to have found this rental and hope to have the opportunity to stay again."
September 2013 Marian: "L'Art Des Amis is classy, bright, clean & comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen and a beautifully tiled bath. The owners have provided everything a visitor needs. The red tiled roof views from the south facing terrace are stunning, a great place for breakfast and an afternoon glass of wine. A very nice bottle of wine was waiting for us when we arrived. The apartment is conveniently located near a grocery, boulangeries, a patisserie, cafes and restaurants. We walked to the beach, shopping areas, the market and the Old Town. We enthusiastically recommend this apartment to friends, relatives and anyone who visits Nice. We found so much to do and see that a week was not enough. Wandering through the Old Town to enjoy the architecture, restaurants, shopping and people watching takes several days. We never tired of visiting the Coeurs Salaya to take in the sights, sounds and fragrances of the market stalls followed by a walk along the Promenade des Anglais next to the beautiful blue Mediterranean. An afternoon read/nap at the beach seemed appropriate before sipping a glass of Rose at a beachfront bar while watching the sun begin to set. We did enjoy the museums, and short bus trips to Menton, Monaco, Antibes (Picasso Museum & market,) and Villefranche. Relaxing at an outdoor cafe or restaurant, dining on wonderfully fresh and wholesome food served by friendly knowledgeable waiters ranked high on our list of favorite things to do. The suggested things to do in Nice provided by the owners will help you enjoy your stay at L'ART DES AMIS. "
