“Excellent Getaway Cabin! Loved Our Stay!”
This cabin is a great place to get away from the city and all it's busy-ness and distractions. I thoroughly enjoyed having my first cup of coffee out on the front porch with a rabbit and a chipmunk one 60-degree morning during the 2nd week of June. The mountain weather was perfect the entire time - 60 to 80 degrees! The cabin, while cozy, is very comfortable and very well equipped. We didn't want for anything. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 1 porch, 1 deck, 1 swing, 3 Adirondack chairs, a gas grill, and a swing. Very secluded, too with lots of natural inhabitants placed there by God Himself - quite the sanctuary, quite the retreat. Can't really say how much we enjoyed our time here: my wife and our youngest 3 children. All of our boys loved the stream just down the road ~3/4 mile and the White River. All of the people that we met (all 3 of them) were very friendly - warm and hospitable...offered to take us fishing! Oh, and there are attractions nearby, like OK Trading Post Trail Rides (horseback), Blanchard Springs Caverns & Spring, Norfork Lake and its marinas (with watercraft rentals), and float trips down the Buffalo River. Thanks, Dan for making your place available to us. God bless you.
Loved this place. You feel like you are in the middle of no where. We loved the coziness of this cabin. Loved that we had no cell service and that we could spend the time together as a family and reconnect. Just remember that if the "locals" tell you: "It's only about a 15 to 20 minute drive" that you are really driving about 40-45 minutes. Loved all the deer that we saw. Loved that the master was by itself, and the porch off the master was such a nice place to hang out and grill and watch the kids(and husband) throwing the baseball around in the yard. Only down side, If you have a big family(6 with us) I would bring your own pans, the ones there are good, just not big enough to cook for a large group, everything else in the kitchen was great. I think that if I would have let Dan know he would have gotten bigger pans for us. Dan was such a nice person to deal with and answered all of our questions. We loved this place and will be back, That I can guarantee!!! Thanks Dan for letting us enjoy your cabin!!! The Rodriquez Family
We had a wonderful time at the cabin, although much of it was spent on the river. The house was very clean, and we appreciated Dan's eagerness to help us with any questions or concerns that we may have. It's nice to seem like you are in the middle of nowhere, yet not be too far from town. Also, the land and river are too beautiful to miss. Needless to say we wished we had stayed longer, and will be back soon.
We had a little trouble finding the place but honestly thats about the only negative thing I can say! The creek was great, the cabin was clean, the beds were comfortable, and we plan on coming back every year! It really is an affordable way to get away! I do have to say one of the things I loved was no cell reception! It was amazing!
Owner's reply: Hi Thank you so much for the review,we really appreciate it and are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at our cabin.
“Peace and Quiet”
You will definitely enjoy the quiet, very secluded cabin fully equipped with everything you need. Clean and comfortable. We aren't really hunters or fisherman so we were more interested in just getting away for awhile and it was gorgeous the river and the mountains provide a perfect hide out from the day to day, would recommend this cabin to anyone
“Escape from the city life and enjoy nature!”
If you like silence, trout fishing, floating down a river, taking nature walks, relaxing in a creek, freedom from cellphones, this is the place for you. The cabin is pretty much by itself and not many people use the access to the river. We walked from the first creek to where it winds and meats the second creek and if you keep going to you wind your way to the White River. Make sure to bring water shoes as the rocks will cut your feet. The second creek has a great spot to float around and relax or just let the kids play and the water is not too hot or too cold. There is a place to relax on the flat rock next to the water. We took one of our vehicles to Ships Ferry boat launch and then went to the boat launch off our road and floated down the White River for about 2 hours and had a blast. The White River is cold but if you give yourself about 5 minutes in it you acclimate to it. You can catch your share of Trout at the river just using canned corn. There is a Dollar General about 20 minutes away where you can get all your grocery needs and more. You can go to the fish hatchery by the Norfork Dam and fish the creek next to the hatchery with the kids (catch and release only). You will see deer EVERY day but be careful because they will run out in front of your vehicle. Oh and if you use a Garmin or Tom-Tom DO NOT let it make you get off of Push Mountain Road before you get to Country Road 72 unless your in a Jeep, on a 4-wheeler or horseback. GPS likes to take you on an offroad adventure in your nice vehicle (Yes I did in my Cadilac Escalade).
Loved the view from Harrison to the cabin. Leafy paradise : ) Several small towns in between that's great for antiqueing. The cabin was very clean and cozy. My favorite parts were the master bedroom and large deck. We ate outside every night. My dad and husband sat around the fire for six hours! The ride down to the creek is gorgeous! It was an awesome retreat for my family from the stress of dealing with cancer. Thank so much for being available at just the right time!
“great scenic vacation”
This cabin was very neat and clean. The sunken master bedroom was private from the rest of the cabin which was great with kids along. The woodwork and floors and unique log cabin bed added to the charm. Dan the owner was great to work with he was very organized and provided us with many details and the place was well stocked with everything we needed. This place was very scenic and we visited blanchard springs which is a must see in that area. We did a kyak trip down the buffalo white river...it was so pretty. Grilling on the deck and the fishing house provided us to clean the trout we caught. Loved the little creeks down the road from the cabin the kids could catch minnows. Highly recommend. Boal shoals was only 45minutes so we took a day trip there too. So much to do. Horse bike riding was fun too.
Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your vacation. Thank You, Dan
“Family Holiday Gathering”
Our sons and daughters-in-law spent New Year weekend at Dan's cabin. The cabin was unlocked and the heat on for us. There were plenty of towels; the beds were comfortable; the place was spotlessly clean. The cabin is remote (read that as QUIET!) For the city-folk among us, that was a wonderful gift. We all slept soundly, enjoyed long walks and will definitely be back. And, by-the-way, the cabin owner, Dan, was wonderful to work with!
“What a gem!”
At the last minute we decided to spend Labor Day weekend 2010 away from home and found this cabin in Mountain Home/Norfork Arkansas. The cabin is great, it is spotless and definitely has everything you need for a vacation, including spring house for fishermen. The owner is fantastic, very thorough, helpful and thoughtful. The area is beautiful, secluded and peaceful. We had a wonderful time hiking, and fishing while floating down the White River. This place really is a gem and worth the ten hour drive we made up there from southern Louisiana. Wish we could've stayed longer, next time we surely will!
