Area Information
Isle La Motte is a historical and scenic place. 400 years ago the French came here to settle this land, it's the oldest settlement in Vermont. Isle La Motte also is home to the world's oldest coral reef, fossilized into stone. St Anne's Shrine, the early settlement buildings of the islands, historic Fisk Farm, Isle La Motte's preservation trust areas, beautiful rocky ledged lakefront with many notable mountains in all directions. Lake Champlain is 115 miles long and 25 miles wide, considered one of the great lakes by many. Most types of desirable fresh water fish are plentiful here. Surprisingly, the traffic is very light on the lake most days. Great area to bicycle on, kayak, fish, go boating, get some quiet time, learn about a very unique part of Vermont that few know about.
