“"I'm so HAPPY!"”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2015

over July 4th weekend my fella and I stayed at Embden Pond and I may have said "I'm so happy!" about 100 times. it was perfect in every way. the design of the cottage is so delightful. fireworks around the pond. We watched Charles Kurault, Star Wars and Ghost on VHS. I had my first S'more. went canoeing every afternoon. slept like a champ! and drove to Pinkhams for meats and cookies. the news that Norma and Carl are selling the property caused me to reach out to family and friends that they should REALLY consider buying it. sadly, no takers. I'd sell my stamp collection, but it's only worth $23. so my only hope is that the new owners continue renting out the cottages, keep it as beautiful and simple as it is(and affordable!). Thank you for a the best mini-break we've ever had. warm wishes to your family in your new home.

Owner's reply: Hi, thank you for your kind review. As you can see, we did not sell our house yet, so will be renting this summer again. Thanks again, Norma

“Awesome place, location, and owners!”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2014

Not knowing what to expect finding a place online, my wife and I were very impressed with the cabin we rented! It was very well kept. Carl and Norma did a great job keeping everything in great shape and functional. They also have a paddleboat and canoe which were great too. All in all, great trip, great location, great owners. We would definitely go back and definitely suggest to friends!

Owner's reply: Thank you, we enjoyed having you as our quests!

“Our Honeymoon Adventure, A Husbands Surprise”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2013

We stayed at a wonderful little cabin that far exceeded our expectations. The weekend was a surprise getaway for my fiancée, and the accommodations were far greater than we could have imagined. The cabin was equipped with everything imaginable to make our stay a once in a lifetime experience. The view of the lake was spectacular and the waterfront area was very inviting. Although we never made it out onto the lake, due to the weather, the setting was fantastic. The warm knotty pine interior of the cabin was an added bonus. The cabin size is perfect for two people, and the creative use of the available space is efficient, well thought out and user friendly. Norma and Carl were great hosts, and we appreciate everything that they did for us. The price was very affordable, and we hope to plan a return trip in the future. This was our first vacation together, and we were both completely pleased and impressed with my choice of locations. The internet listing doesn't even come close to describing the beauty and serenity of the cabins setting. We would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a romantic, peaceful getaway location to relax and enjoy one of Maine's beautiful clear water inland lakes with a mountain view. Bring your food, and leave your worries at home, you won't regret it. Thank you , Norma and Carl! The Kessler's, Charlie and Mary

Owner's reply: Thank you for the great review! We are very happy that you had a good time as our guests here in Maine. You are welcome to come back any time. Norma and Carl

“A little piece of paradise!”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2013

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at Carl and Norma's cottage on the hill! We were only there for two nights and it wasn't enough! We watched movies in the cozy living room at night, ate breakfast on the table by the water in the morning, and took an extensive canoe trip around the perimeter of the lake during the day and took a dip in the lake afterwards. The water is amazing, and the scenery is beautiful (so many mountains!) This cabin is pretty far from the nearest store so I packed us a cooler with all the food we would need for the weekend. The kitchen was very well equipped and we had everything we needed, the gas grill on the deck was really nice to have. Thank you so much Carl and Norma, we had a lovely time and would love to visit again next summer :) Best, Nichole and Christian

Owner's reply: Thank you Nichole! We enjoyed having you and hope to see you again next year. Norma and Carl

“Perfect cottage”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2013

This cottage was built by the owner and the workmanship is beautiful. The cottage is clean and cozy and situated on a hill with access to the lake and dock via a small path. The owners are welcoming, but also give you your privacy. I highly recommend this cottage for a stay any time of the year.

Owner's reply: Thank you Inese for your kind review. It was a pleasure to have you as our guest, come back any time. Norma & Carl

“Wonderful weekend at the lake”

The cabin was clean, had a gorgeous view, and was very thoughtfully stocked. Thanks again for a great weekend, and we hope to come back in years to come!

Owner's reply: Thank you Alicia, and thank you for leaving the cabin so nice. You are welcome any time, Norma

“Excellent Labor Day Weekend”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2012

We had a great stay at the cottage on the hill on Embden Pond! The cottage was absolutely spotless and included all of the comforts of home. The lake was very quiet during our stay which made our canoe and pedal boat excursions all the more relaxing. We didn't catch as many fish as we had hoped but all in all it was an excellent way to wind down our summer!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your kind review. It was a pleasure having you and Bill here as our quests. Come back any time. Norma & Carl

“Peaceful, immaculate getaway”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2012

This is our third summer visiting Norma and Carl, and it feels like coming home now. We spent 2 wonderful weeks at the cottage - a great place to wind down and get away from it all. The bass fishing off the dock was great as well as the crystal clear water for swimming. The cottage is better equipped than our kitchen at home. We did more exploring on day trips this year, a beautiful ride up hte Old Canada Road to the Provence of Quebec and Moxie Falls. We are already thinking about what dates we will visit next year. Thanks so much, Norma and Carl, for your hospitality. We hope you and your wonderful family have a happy and prosperous year. Sincerely, Karen and Bob Riedl

Owner's reply: Hi, thank you so much for the nice review! We really enjoy having you, you are more like old friends than renters! We look forward to having you again next year. Hope you have a wonderful year. Norma & Carl

“Beautiful and Serene”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2012

We stayed for only 3 nights and it was hardly long enough. As other reviews say, bring the food and supplies you need as the corner market is small, but the cabin was gorgeous! And the view...spectactular. It was a short walk to the lake and we took the canoe out and fished (with no luck) and sat in the sun. It was so relaxing and quiet. The perfect weekend getaway!

Owner's reply: Thank you, Lauren. It was a pleasure having you and Dylan as our guests. Come back any time. Norma
