Worst rental experience ever.

Description : This rental agents, Ann Lacathy & Wess Graham, cancelled my reservation four days before the start of my vacation. I reserved this property for a March 13, 2011 arrival. The reservation was made in December 2010. I submitted the required agreement, and security deposit check at that time. My reservation was confirmed by email on 12/29/10. The check was cashed a couple days later. The reservation was confirmed by email again on 1/25/2011. On 3/8/2011, four days before my vacation start, I got an email telling me that the reservation was being cancelled. The story was extremely dubious, and vague. In fact the story changed three times. I left several email and phone messages requesting a phone call. I did not even get the common courtesy of a return phone call. direct phone call to discuss. No response. My strong suspicion is that they found a renter that wanted the property for a longer term than my one week rental. So they simply threw me into the street. I had airline tickets booked and paid for. I had golf tee times booked and paid for. I just had nowhere to stay.

just wanted to let everyone that we had a horrible experience with these owners, had this place rented back in dec 2010, for a week in March 2010, THREE days before departing to florida, our deposit was returned stating the house is no longer available, due to verification process. Like I said, our deposit was submitted and received in Dec, they could of done the process then, so I believe it was all a line of BS! I believe they either double booked it or received more money? Whatever the reason, they failed to communicate by phone, or email after they mailed the deposit back. They totally left us up in the air with no place in florida with THREE days notice! I would not recommend them or any of their other rentals, don't believe their contracts, or they at first friendly service!

Rented this home back in May 2010 for March 2011. Sent deposit right away, and in January 2011, emailed regarding info for getting into the house as we were leaving early for the south. They didn't seem to know what we were renting or when. Said we would get an email 10 days prior to our rental date. Left for Florida 7 days prior to March 1st and received an email one day into our travels saying they were returning our deposit to our Canadian address because of credit verification issues. They spelled both our names wrong (wonder why they had credit verification issues!!), but did not have the decency to call us. They only had 10 months to do their due diligence and left us stranded - already travelling and made it look like it was our fault!!! Our gut feeling is Ann Lacathy made a huge error and they had to cover it up. Most likely a double booking. We are persuing the issue legally - we are now out $2900 as we had to rent at high, last minute prices. Check the internet under Ann Lacathy's name and you will find more sad stories. Be aware and use caution!!! These people are not businesslike, and obviously do not care about people. We don't treat people like that in Canada. Leaves a pretty bad taste in our mouths.

A rental contract that was broken

February 17, 2011

This is warning to anyone who may want to rent this property. Two weeks before my family was to arrive for our vacation in February, 2011 I received a letter in the mail with my deposit cancelling our reservation. The contract for the rental was made in mid-November of 2010. The reason we were given for the cancellation was "due to last minute unexpected circumstances, your vacation rental is no longer available" I contacted the rental agent immediately who wrote" yes, I am sorry the property is no longer available". I contacted the owner of the property who was upset and bewildered that this happened with his property, but said he could not do anything about it. This left us with paid for airplane reservations for six peope, including two children, and other costs, as well as vacation time requested from our jobs. But, more important was the disappointment we have after carefully planning this winter getaway and looking forward to a special time with our family. We have not received an explanation for the cancellation which leaves us to believe that a better deal was made by the agent later in the Winter than we were contracted for in late Fall. In other words, we became expendable and the contract we signed and made a deposit on became meaningless. Money and greed were chosen over doing what was right; ie., honoring our contract. My hope is that what happened to us will result in a positive learning experience. This is why I am sharing it with the you. Thanks. Jim

Don't waste your time with this rental and other listings from this owner. It's "pay upon arrival" because they don't give you a chance to arrive. We had this home reserved with our deposit paid since November and they cancelled one week before our arrival "due to circumstances beyond control" after confirming 3 days earlier and now we have no place to stay when we arrive in Florida.

The missing kitchen

The missing kitchen

August 10, 2009

The description states "full kitchen" but there was no kitchen other than a stove, fridge and microwave-not even a kitchen sink. There were exposed wires also. You have to do dishes in the laundry tub-the mstr. bath isn't finished. It will look nice once the ceiling is completed and the walls are finished though!
