“A peaceful and quite retreat”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2016

The words "rustic simplicity" describe this beautiful home nestled among the trees on Lucas Pond. The home comes well supplied and the kitchen is well stocked. You only need to bring your linens and food. This charming home has a dock, a deck and a screened in porch. there are boats, fishing gear, and floats available for use. The private beach is perfect if you have little kids! There is a separate bunk house that was perfect for for my son and his friends. The house is not air-conditioned, but you really don't need it. It is on the shady part of the lake during the day and, in the evening, there is usually a beautiful breeze blowing across the water. If not, there are more than an adequate number of fans to use as well. Every night was spent on the screened in porch playing a board game or cards. This was one of the most peaceful and relaxed vacations that we have ever had as a family. If you need anything, there is a grocery store nearby and don't forget to visit Antique Alley. Julie and Adam are the perfect hosts and available to answer any questions. This is a great place to stay and I can't wait to reserve it again next year!

“Another Great Stay!!”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2015

This was our second time staying here and it was just as great as the first time!! The place was clean and neat and if you have any questions the owners are quick to respond. We loved hearing the bagpiper again during our stay. There is always plenty to do as well there. We had use of the paddle boat and canoe and enjoyed sitting by the fire every night. We also took a drive down antique alley and went to the nearest mini golf place as well. It was another fun relaxing vacation and can't wait for next year to do it again!!

“Phenominal”

Pictures don't do this place justice! Had a girls weekend/bridal shower for my sister and we couldn't have been happier! Amazing amazing amazing... Everything and mite than we could have asked for!

“Lucas Pond Cabin”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2014

The cabin was exactly as described. Rustic, but very adequate! Kitchen was stocked with basics,( stove, refrigerator, toaster, pots& pans, dishes) but if there is anything special that you want, you need to bring it. Lots of sleeping space with 4 foutons available. Very quiet setting, lots of shade, great deck to sit on and enjoy it all! If you like to camp this is a wonderful place, but it is not like a hotel. The setting is what makes this place special. The lake is quiet, as there are no motors allowed. So thepaddleboat and canoes are good. Location is within reach of mountains, the ocean, Portsmouth or anything else you want to do. The owners were quite accessible prior to our stay and we didn't need to contact them durring our stay. (Everything was in good working order). Would I stay there again? Yes, yes, yes! Adam and Julie, you have a great place here! Pat, Mellony and our crew of 7, sometimes more.

“A Relaxing Getaway”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2013

This was the perfect place for a much needed vacation away from it all. Its rustic charm was exactly what the doctor ordered. There was plenty of room for my family and I and then some. We enjoyed waking up each morning to coffee on the deck overlooking the pond, spending some time exploring the antique shops on Antique Alley, grilling every night, sitting by the firepit and listening to the bullfrogs serenade us, taking the paddleboat and canoe out on the water to explore, sunbath on the dock, fishing, watching the blue Herrons that made their home there, and so much more. One of the best experiences we enjoyed was late at night with the firepit going we would take the canoe out on the water near the middle and just look up at the stars. The water was so serene it was like floating on glass and the view at night on the water had me awe struck. The other thing I particularly liked was that their was no motor boats allowed on the water which made it more peaceful. The overall experience was very enjoyable and relaxing. The owners were very pleasant and accomodating and were quick to respond to any questions that we might have regarding the property. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and families and hope to return ourselves next year.

“Excellent Time”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2013

The camp we stayed at was just as described, rustic, but very much what we were looking for. The contact with the owners was great, all questions answered promptly. Everything was available for us to use, great instructions, perfect location, would definitely go back again. Lake view was great, loons, plenty of fish to catch, bull frogs, turtles, heron, it was nature at it's best. Buck was a big hit.....you will have to go stay there to enjoy him. Thanks for a great week.

“Relaxation meets tranquility”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2012

We spent a wonderful week on this property. We had plenty of room for all. The beach area and deck were our playground during the day and the screened in porch at night. Everything we needed and then some was supplied for us (includin life jackets!). The was house was well stocked. With the pond not allowing motor craft this really added to the tranquility. My son cooked on the grill everynight and also had a campfire most nights. The kids were in the water from morning til night and then slept thru the night. The house is on the shady side of the pond which we enjoyed, the sun peeked around 3pm on the water. If your party includes those who enjoy fishing you will not be disappointed. While the grown ups were catching trout with poles the little ones caught some litte fish with a net and pale it was tooooo cute to watch (oh they were also catching frogs). No airconditioning needed plenty of fans supplied. I would however suggest to visitors to go the extra few miles on route 4 to market basket as they offer better prices than Hannafords (we discovered it after we had already shopped). We had a small group of 7 however because we have a medically comlex child a nurse or myself have to be up all night with him and with the additional space of the bunk house the noise of his machines didn't bother them. Great place for kids it is a home meant to be lived in. This is the first time I have ever rented directly from owners and can't say enough how responsive Julie was to all my emails, it was a positive experience. We look forward to renting next year!!

“Perfect, peaceful week on the lake.”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2010

Rented this camp on Lucas Pond for a week with another family. The house is rustic but comfortable and was equipped with everything we needed. The pond is great for fishing, swimming, and paddling around in the provided rowboat or peddle boats. We also brought our own canoe-perfect for quietly gliding across the water in early morning or evening. We loved that no power boats are allowed! very quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed grilling on the big deck every night and sunning on the dock every afternoon. There were 4 adults, 5 kids and 2 dogs and we still had plenty of room for sleeping and doing our own thing. The detached bunkhouse was the perfect haven for the 3 boys aged 10-13!! Hint: Don't miss the little store at the end of Lucas Pond Road. It's a real blast from the past. We took bike rides or jogs down there daily to buy worms for fishing. Also, they sell N.H. fishing licenses in the store. The owners were very well-organized, nice and helpful in making the rental arrangements, answering all our questions, etc. No problems whatsoever. (Thanks for all the emails, Julie:) We would definitely go back there again for another vacation. Highly recommend!

“Pure relaxation!”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2009

The home was perfect, rustic, yet all the comforts of home. Great fishing right off the dock. Water was perfect temperature for the kids, who enjoyed the entire week immensely. Bunk house was a great retreat for the kids to have their own privacy. Bagpipes playing "Amazing Grace" was a nice touch as well. Very relaxing vacation, screen porch & deck was where we spent most of our time when we weren't in the water. Highly recommended property!

Owner Supplied Testimonials

Adam, thanks for letting us stay at your place this week! We felt right at home from the pond, the fishing (right off the dock as you said), the swimming, the 3 Stooges DVD's "nyuh" , the comfy beds, the Dropkick Murphys, the nod to Yaz in the bunkhouse , the boats, the leftover Labatt's in the icebox, the grill, and on and on. You know you're relaxed when you tell time by the sun on the dock and the bagpipes. I'll call in the Spring. If you're up for renting again, we're in! Great vacation. Don't go making "enhancements".

Thanks again,
Tracy and Andy
