About the area

OGUNQUIT - BEAUTIFUL PLACE BY THE SEA Picture a postcard ''''''a pristine beach, waves crashing into granite cliffs, evergreens rising above the birch trees. Whether it's a breathtaking view of the seascape, an image of a lobster boat passing through the hand-operated drawbridge in Perkins Cove, or one of Ogunquit's fragrant and meticulously manicured gardens ''''''there's a potential postcard with every step. Artists discovered Ogunquit's inspirational scenery over a century ago. They helped transform the quaint fishing hamlet into one of the most picturesque and enjoyed seaside resort villages in New England. While the artist's provide an array of fine collectibles and artwork sought throughout the East Coast and displayed in our intimate museums, it's the world-class beach and magnificent coastline that attract visitors from around the globe. The mouth of the tidal Ogunquit River separates three miles of white sandy beach from the craggy granite ledge which dives into the Atlantic. Millions of visitors have walked the Marginal Way, a scenic cliff-walk that meanders along the ocean for over a mile. Theater lovers flock to the many playhouses for the summer stock performances. Shoppers rave about the assortment of galleries, boutiques and gift shops and discriminating diners have an abundant selection of fine restaurants to satisfy nearly every taste - including lobster! Recreation enthusiasts love Ogunquit because our front yard is an ocean and our backyard is the "Vacationland" known as Maine. You can try deep-sea fishing, cast a rod into the river, even learn about trapping lobster with a licensed captain or play a round of golf at some of New England's top rated courses. Sailing, sea kayaking and whale watching are popular activities as well as hiking nearby Mount Agamenticus or the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm. Whether it's a romantic retreat, a family escape to the beach or an outdoor adventure, Ogunquit is your premier destination.

“A great place!”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2016

My husband & I stayed at this cottage in August and we had a great week! The house was exactly what we needed... perfect space for two people, clean & nicely renovated. We were very comfortable. We took advantage of everything that the town has to offer and also made day trips to Portland & Kennebunkport. The owner made the whole process very easy! The house offers an affordable and practical way to enjoy a beautiful part of Maine!

“What a great find!”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2016

My husband & I stayed at this home for a week. We were very pleased with what we found! The place is very spacious and nicely furnished for a couple. It's located in a small "neighborhood" in a great location within walking distancs to a few restaurants, the trolley and the beach. What I really liked was the washer/dryer! It was great knowing I didn't have to do a week's worth of laundry when we got home! I would definitely recommend this house and hope to return to it again!

Owner's reply: Thank you for writing!! I love that washer/dryer too, when I renovated the place it was a must!!

“Great time!”

We had the best time, great shops, beautiful beaches, you have to walk on the Marginal way beautiful views! We were surprised at all the big name stars that were at the Ogunquit Playhouse we saw "Anything Goes" it was awesome! The cabin we stayed at was perfect clean, with everything you would need, and convenient to everything from shopping to whale watching to just going to the beach. I was surprised at how early it gets daylight out we live in NC and you have about 1 1/2 hours on us. Thanks for the great experience! Steve

Owner's reply: Thank you for staying!! I'm glad you were able to enjoy everything that Ogunquit has to offer!!!!

“Davenport Cottage in Ogunquit, Maine”

Reviewed 9 Jun 2016

We have a wonderful stay at Cottage #41 last week end. The cottage was new and fresh and clean. It had all the comforts and amenitys needed for a very comfortable stay. We'd highly recomend this property to anyone wanting a centrally located spot, close to everything.

Owner's reply: Thank you for the review!!! Looking forward to your next visit!!!

“Immaculate well appointed cottage”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2015

My husband & I had a great stay at this cottage. It was close to everything & we had everything we needed for our stay. The road in front of the cottage was ripped up & night work began the last night of our stay. This made it difficult to sleep. However, we would love to return once the construction is complete. Rachel the owner was great to deal with.

“Cozy convenience”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2015

Very convenient location to walk to beach (and avoid $20 parking fee) and walk to town and avoid traffic (15 min walk). Had almost everything we needed (missing coffee cups and glasses). Better suited for couple or short stay for 4 people. Would recommend replacing pull out sofa though...had to use our camping mattress to make it usable. An enjoyable stay overall !

Owner's reply: Thank you for the review!! Glasses and Coffee cups have been brought over, thank you for letting me know and I will look into a mattress replacement or alternative for the couch. I appreciate your helpful suggestions and hope you can come enjoy Ogunquit again at 41 Eastwind Lane!!! Thank you for staying!

“Cozy Cottage”

Very Simple, but Nice. Quiet area. Location is great! Easy access to the Best Beach around-Footbridge Beach, 1/2 mi away. Restaurants in walking distance too, Egg & I, great breakfast and Lobster Pound, very good indeed. Cottage has 2 beds and 1 bath. Must bring own towels and bedding. Take an extra suitcase. Chairs provided for the beach. Very pleased.

Owner's reply: Thanks Tammy, I'm glad you had a nice stay. Thank you for the review, hope to have you again next year!
