Description from owner

This cottage is unlike anything you have ever experienced. It is a renovated 1890's Victorian Cottage. It has a small beautifully landscaped front yard surrounded by a white picket fence. Normal high tide goes 3/4 under the house. Stairs lead directly to the water. There is a large wrap around porch with newly purchased wooden rockers and a sun deck with lounge chairs and a small eating table. There is a full working Kitchen with an upgraded 40 gallon hotwater tank as well as a new refrigerator. The cottage does have Cable TV, and a DVD/ VCR player. There are 3 bedrooms, one double, two rooms with two sets of twins beds (4). The village of Onset, white sandy public beach and great restaurants are located within walking distance. Kayaks and motor boat rentals are located nearby as well. If you own your own boat, the public boat ramp is conveniently less then 200 yards. You can even fish for stripers /sea bass right off of porch (high tide) or walk down the street to a "fishing" bridge. Also from the porch and deck, you can enjoy picturesque sunrises and sunsets.

“Property 43909 Grandview cottage”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2016

My husband, myself and two teens spent a delightful week at Grandview Cottage. The cottage was spotless and the beds and furniture very comfortable. If you have small ones that love nature they would love low tide at the cottage! Good restaurants in town but not much else to do there. We went on to the Cape for most of our activities but it was close enough not to be an issue. The cottage has everything you need for a nice relaxing week. Nights on the porch with the cool breeze was great. Concerts and plays in the park were walking distance. Landlords very pleasant.

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed your stay at our cottage.... and that your children explored the beach and sea life, as have our children and grandchildren. Thank you for your kind words. The Hutchins

“Grandview”

What a wonderful place for a vacation. The cottage was very clean and stocked with everything you would need. Very cozy and comfortable. Within a short walk to restaurants, shops pier, beach. The views from the porch are breathtaking. Would definitely rent again and recommend to friends/family....

“spectacular stay”

"The Grandview Cottage" was just perfect. Myself and two friends stayed here for a weekend to do the Onset triathlon. Bruce and Gail were very accomadating. The cottage was impeccably clean and comfortable. Sitting out on the day or night was amazing! Watching the horseshoe crabs at night was one of the highlights of our trip. I would highly recommend this cottage!

“Perfect Beach House Rental for My Family”

Reviewed 27 May 2014

I couldn't have asked for a better Memorial weekend. The house was perfect. Fully stocked for pretty much all your needs. Very comfortable home! My kids would spend hours having fun exploring the wildlife around the deck as I got to sit in the rocker or lay in the lounge chairs supplied and relax and still be able to watch them. My husbands favorite part was being able to relax with the family yet still fish off the deck! Onset Village was a short walk from the house with restaurants, shops, ice cream shops, and convenience store if you run out of some basic needs for breakfast. I really couldn't have asked for a better accommodations!

“Total Relaxation”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2013

What a terrific vacation; it's a picture post card New England town and the cottage was relaxing and comfortable. Want to take a swim? Just get up from the front porch walk down the side steps and you are in the water. Nothing could be easier. Everything is withinin a mile and a half of the cottage.....great fish, Italian and Chinese restaurants--I'm originally from New York and expect a lot when I go out to eat--I was not disappointed here. Planned day trips to Nantucket, whale watching, shopping and everything is just 1/2 hour away. Like to feel like you're really away in a picture perfect setting, just look out the front windows of the cottage when you wake up every morning.

“Lovely”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2012

We were fortunate to stay at the Hutchins during the last week of June, first week of July. What a lovely place, owned by lovely people. As the water comes under the deck, the views are to die for. The covered deck afforded us the opportunity to watch storms come in as well as enjoy the beautiful weather. We brought our kayaks and were able to use them with ease daily. The cottage inside is warm and well appointed. There was nothing I ever looked for that wasn't available. Pretty dishes, nice glassware, plenty of pots, pans, etc.. Beds were very comfortable, pretty linens. I felt like every day I discovered something new. Our stay was wonderful-cannot wait to return!

“Peaceful Waterfront”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2012

We loved waking up the first morning and seeing the sun sparkling on the water right outside the living room windows! Glorious! We so enjoyed being right on the water. The kids collected shells and snails and watched all variety of crabs (including horseshoe crabs). We also spent a lot of time at the beach (5 min away) building sandcastles and yes, even swimming in May! The cottage is tiny which adds to the charm. The owners were very helpful and relaxed, making us feel so at home. Recommended! We did have a mix of rain and sun, and some fog, so come prepared for it all. Also, if planning to take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard, look carefully at the parking before you go - don't go all the way to Wood's Hole because you'll just come 3/4 of the way home again to park and then take a shuttle-bus back to Woods Hole. Recommended to visit : Boston (1hr), Martha's Vineyard, Chatham (quaint town with gorgeous beaches) and lots more to see. We were amazed to see seals (more than 50) while in Chatham.

“Wonderful Place to Vacation”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2011

We loved the home in Onset. It was wonderfully decorated, clean and picturesque. The owners were very helpful, providing directions, dinner ideas and interesting town history. We really enjoyed this area as it was close enough to the Cape but without the traffic and overwhelming tourist feel. We were able to be to many spots on the cape within 15 minutes. The beach in Onset was not too busy and really beautiful. The home is within walking distance of the town, beach and many other beautiful sights. Would highly recommend!

“Wonderful vacation escape”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2011

My July week at Grandview Cottage was everything I could have hoped. The cottage itself is well-located (a short walk from beach and village, and quiet) and well-situated (looking out over the water while eating dinner at the picnic table was so peaceful). Everything we could have needed was on hand, and the cottage is impeccably kept. The owners are incredibly nice and welcoming, and provided useful suggestions whenever we needed them. When I left I wished I could have been there another week, and I hope to return next summer.

“exceptionnal cottage!!!”

We stayed one week at this cottage on last june and everything was perfect! The owners were very fantastic and always ready to give us many informations or suggestions. The cottage was very beautiful and clean. We could find everything we needed. The vue was wonderfull from the deck. It was special to feel the house almost in the water with the high tide. My children appreciate to fish crabs from the deck! The water in the bay was warm enough to swim all day long. Onset is a beatifull village and there is many things to do around the house. All the family loved this trip. We hope to return again!
