Classic Victorian cottage built in early 1900's by doctor from Boston. Excellent beach for sun bathing and swimming at your door step. Located in small New England village reminiscent of an earlier time.
Onset traces its beginning to a sale of over 2000 acres of land; the settlers of Plimouth Plantation bought this huge tract from the native people whose regional affiliation was the Wampanoags. The transaction, known as the Agawam Purchase, created the Agawam Plantation. In Algonquin dialect, Agawam meant "The Sandy Landing Place."
Although 300 years have passed since the original inhabitants were here, gazing today from Onset Bluffs, the view of the same sparkling waters; the same lover's moon shines on the bay. And a walk along the boulevard recalls that Victorian community of long ago.

The beach in Onset offers the finest swimming and sun bathing in the area. Warmed by the Gulf Stream waters and cooled by gentle ocean breezes provide a great beach vacation.
Some of the finest restaurants in the Cape Cod area are just a few minutes away and serve food in the old New England tradition. Several good breakfast places in the Village. Excellent dinner at the local Bistro or short drive away. Travel to the northern end of Cape Cod Canal for lunch and a splendid view of Cape Cod Bay. Evening at Lindsey's or Bailey's Surf & Turf on close by Cranberry Highway will offer you an excellent dinner. Cocktail cruises thru part of the Cape Cod Canal depart from the local pier just a short walk away.
In Onset Center, a short two block walk, are small stores and shops. You will easily find the grocery, laundromat, donut shop, ice cream parlor, Mark Anthony's Pizzeria and antique shops. A larger super grocery and WalMart are located about three miles away at the Cranberry Plaza. In this area are a giant water slide, go-carts, batting cages, video game parlor, bowling and antique shops.

Day Trip #3 - Boston
Boston is an hour drive -- a truly magnificent city of great historic importance. The Freedom Trail is a self-guided driving tour that takes you to all the historic sites. This is our family's 4th year renting this house. We love it as if it were our own. Each year we host our family reunion in the spacious back yard, the young members of our family enjoy the beach, while those of us who are older enjoy the large porch and great view. Our relatives in near by Buzzards Bay, Bourne, and Wareham love to visit us when we are here. They love it as much as we do. We plan on keeping this destination as a family tradition for years to come.

My family and I stayed in this beautiful house in July 2011. It was a wonderful experience. The house is perfect for a large family and it has been very well maintained. The beach is directly across the street. There were restaurants and a convenience store within walking distance as well as a pretty town green. The owner was very personable and friendly. We had a great experience and plan to go back again soon!
Onset is easily accessible by auto from I-195, I-495 and then Massachusetts 25 to within five miles from the beach house. You can fly into Boston's Logan International Airport and drive your rental car about 55 miles to Onset. The Hassle-Free Gateway to New England, T.F. Green Airport in Providence, Rhode Island is also about 55 miles to Onset. Each of these airports is served by major airlines with frequent arrivals and departures daily.
