“Enjoyable lake house!”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2016

We enjoyed our stay very much. Owner, Liz, was good to work with and responded quickly to questions etc! The towns in the area were fun to explore. Judi's Place in Oostburg is very good as is Kups Coffee and the bakery. The house is a short walk from Lake Michigan and listening to the sound of the waves even in the house at night was very relaxing. Something to be aware of...there are several steps into the house and of course to go up stairs for bedrooms/bathroom but that was not a problem for us. There is a slight musty smell that reminded me of my grandparents cellar but it improved with the windows opened. Knowing which beach area we were to use was a little confusing but going so late in the year we did not plan on playing in the water...we just enjoyed sitting near the path and watching the birds and waves. We would definitely consider staying here again and would recommend it to friends.

“Oostburg Vacation”

This is the second year creating memories at this vacation house. Our 4 year old grandchildren had the time of there lives.

“Oostburg Cottage”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2016

Our family had a great stay at the cottage in Oostburg! Beautiful yard with lots of privacy. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower! The beach was close and easy to get to.

Owner's reply: Always nice to have my guest enjoy the surrounding beauty and shower 'naturally'.

“Great Relaxing Visit”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2015

This was such a fantastic place to stay. We didn't need to bring anything as it was already nicely outfitted with everything we needed. The property is lovely and made us feel like we were much farther away from home than the 2 1/2 hours it took us to get here, but close enough to anything we wanted to experience. We will definitely be renting this house again!

Owner's reply: It has been an amazing summer and fall. Great weather, great guests. I like this review because it does capture one of the nicest aspects of my property....location, location, location. I always feel like I have traveled to Costa Rica when I am in Oostburg WI. Only a 45 minute drive for me from Milwaukee. Nature everywhere you look! Each seasonal change is nice to me including winter. An easy relaxing Midwest get away!!

“Right next to the beach - perfect for the sunrise!”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2015

What a lovely home right off the beach. It's also close to the highway (43) and downtown Oostburg has a great bakery (thanks for the recommendation, Liz!). I just spent one night at the house, but I woke up in the morning and watched the sunrise over Lake Michigan and took a walk on the beach. The yard is beautifully maintained and has lots of great amenities - a fire pit, deck, kayak, and much more! The house isn't giant but it's very roomy and cozy all at one time! The master bedroom bed was comfortable. There are a lot of windows and natural light in the house but there aren't neighbors next door, so it's pretty private. I would definitely recommend this home for your next getaway!

“Lovely lake house”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2015

We had a great time here. The house isn't big, but is cozy and comfortable. A great place to get away from it all for the weekend. As others have mentioned, parts of the beach are private property, but we still had enough room for our kids to play and enjoy themselves. Owner has a whole closet of games and other things for children such as kites and sidewalk chalk. We had one whole day of rain so the games were great. A note for those with toddlers: there are lots of breakable objects in the house, so you will need to put those up during your stay.

Owner's reply: It is ironic that we do provide the games and toys for children and do not think to put away breakable objects! I will be more mindful of that in the future. Enjoyed having you and the children stay. Thanks for the review.

“Thanksgiving In Oostburg”

Reviewed 5 Dec 2014

We spent Thanksgiving in Oostburg this year and had an excellent time. The house is very cozy, clean, and and has all of the amenities you need for a relaxing escape from a fast-paced routine. The Kimballs are excellent hosts and go out of their way to make their guests feel accommodated. The surrounding area is beautiful and just steps from Lake Michigan--which is a great sight all year around. I highly recommend this destination for any time of the year and plan on going back in the near future.

Owner's reply: Wonderful guest. Glad they decided against trying the kayak on Lake Michigan this tme of year. Winter here soon!

This trip was wonderful. The humming birds and insects were amazing to see and the walks along the shore-line were exciting. The house owner, Liz and Art Kimball, couldn't be any nicer! We will be back again.

“Lake Michigan Stay”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2014

We enjoyed our time at this cottage and my kids loved the beach and bonfire we had access to while we stayed. Being able to ride the bikes provided were also great. Very friendly owners and polite.

“Serene and beautiful”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2014

We are a family of 4 & thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cottage . The cottage & surrounding property offered serenity and relaxation. The home was spotless and the decorations were whimsical and entertaining. The deck outdoors provided of the beautiful gardens offered peaceful viewing of gardens & wildlife surrounding the cottage. We enjoyed the fire pit at night and appreciated the firewood that the owners left for us to utilize. We enjoyed hiking on the trails that were in the property. It was just a short hike to the beach, however, we were able to carry all of our supplies. It was also convenient to have the beach chairs provided by the owners for our use. She even provided beachtowels in case we forgot ours! The owner was always prompt and very kind and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and hope to return in the future.

Roman: We stayed in October and had excellent time there! Private cottage with fully equipped kitchen and only 50 yards from the Michigan Lake and away from all city noises. Sports equipment was provided - so kayaking on the lake waves was my favorite!
