About Coast

The Oregon Coast is considered by many to be one of the most peaceful and beautiful regions in the United States. Its location offers scenic views of the Pacific Ocean and a front seat to the wilderness. Oregon Coast vacation rentals promise comfort and access to these national treasures during a visit to the area. Choose from available beach houses overlooking the ocean and browse nearby rentals to find your home-away-from-home while on vacation.

Climate

In addition to the 350 miles that run the length of the state, many consider the Oregon Coast to also include the first 10 miles inland as well. Since the region is so expansive, the weather can differ greatly between opposite ends of the coast. Generally, though, the state sees a healthy amount of rainfall and remains cool throughout the year. Summer temperatures typically don’t exceed 70 degrees Fahrenheit, while winter temperatures usually hover around 50.

Getting Around The Area

The Oregon Coast is a vast stretch of land bordering the majestic Pacific Ocean and it is best to have a car to get around the area. Fly into Eugene Airport and then rent a car to drive the hour west until you reach the coast. On your drive you will find that while a great part of the state is dedicated to beautiful, scenic landscapes, cities also dot the area. Visitors can find cities like Astoria, Newport, and Brookings-Harbor along the coast packed with coast vacation rentals and encapsulating everything that makes Oregon unique.

Things to Do

The wild beauty of Oregon makes it a popular spot for nature lovers. Shore Acres State Park in Coos Bay is the perfect destination for families interested in visiting the area. Oregon Coast vacation rentals near the bluff where the park is located provide great access to the natural landscape. Spectacular beaches also go hand-in-hand with Oregon’s picturesque coast. Stroll along the sand at Cannon Beach or explore the seastacks and headlands offshore via kayak. Haystack Rock and Ecola State Park are also great places to spend a day along the ocean’s edge.

In Astoria, the Columbia River Maritime Museum offers a great education on the state’s relationship with the Pacific Ocean. Learn about ship travel along the Columbia River Bar and see exciting exhibits about topics like wave height during severe storms and the U.S. Coast Guard. If you prefer to learn about what’s in the water rather than what’s traveling ...
