The closest airport to fly into is Portland International Airport about two hours away. Rent a car for the drive to Lincoln City and keep it for your stay as driving is the best way to get around the area. The Lincoln City Loop Bus operates only Monday through Saturday, so you’ll be happy to have an alternate form of transportation. For on-the-water exploration, rent kayaks, canoes or wave runners from Blue Heron Landing.

Lincoln City sees temperate weather with temperatures typically ranging from 45 degrees F to 80 degrees F throughout the year. Although the weather is mild, you should pack rain gear for your trip as rain is frequent and often unpredictable. For the best chance at avoiding any rain showers, visit during the summer when the weather is at its driest and sun block is necessary.

Things to Do

The spectacular beaches along the Pacific Coast are a hub of activity in Lincoln City, and there are a number of beach access points for vacationers not staying in oceanfront Lincoln City vacation rentals. Spend the day paddle boarding, swimming, and snorkeling, or if you’re a landlubber try fishing, crabbing, clamming and shelling along the shore.

Lincoln City also provides several state parks with something for everyone. Conveniently located just minutes from downtown, Devils Lake State Recreation Area offers hiking trails, picnic areas, canoeing, kayaking, and opportunities for viewing wildlife. The cliff-lined beach at Fogarty Creek State Recreation Area is a relaxing respite for picnicking, swimming, hiking and fishing. Roads End State Recreation Site is another great option and is a bit less crowded than the beaches closer to the downtown area.

Away from the beaches, go on a horseback riding excursion at Green Acres Equestrian Center. Pick out a steady mount and explore the land the way it used to be traveled, back in the day when pioneers lived in the area. Visit the North Lincoln County Historical Museum to find out about the lives of the pioneers and their impact on the area through informative exhibits. Admission is free, so the whole family can join. Just a short drive away in Newport is the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Plan a visit to see the many exhibits including playful seals and sea otters, an impressive seabird aviary, vulture habitats, and intriguing aquarium gardens.

In October, the sky fills with color during the annual Fall Kite Festival held at the D-River Wayside beach. Vacationers can see impressive kite flying demonstrations, learn how to make kites and watch the running of the bols during this unique event. Finders Keepers is a city-sponsored project that runs from Mid-October to Memorial Day and attracts visitors from all over the country. The event allows tourists to search for hidden glass floats along the beaches and is an exciting thing for families to participate in together.

Visitors never need to worry about finding fun things to do near Lincoln City vacation rentals. This coastal city is a perfect balance of activity and relaxation that vacationers of all types will love.
