The Rancho Rio Montana photos are true to the property but cannot express the uniqueness of the Ranch experience, nestled 900’ up in the hills. Arriving at the Ranch is a “take your breath away” experience. From the moment the RRM entrance gates open, and you walk through the front door onto an expansive terrace with the infinity pool calling to you, and the Pacific Ocean spread out below, you know this vacation is going to be special. We quickly found our bedrooms, changed into our suits, and jumped in! From then on we spent most sunsets by the pool formulating the next day’s plan…which beach to go to, which activity to indulge in, which Pilates class to attend, which restaurant to eat in or what dinner we would prepare. Sometimes we just stayed put, hiking the Ranch roads, swimming in the pool, watching the swallows skim the pool surface for water and the vultures soaring overhead, and reading books. A nice life! The town of Nosara at the Beaches is as bustling as a small town can be. There are plenty of vacationers, most from the US. Most everyone in the tourist business speaks English. Many roads in and around town are unpaved, bumpy and dusty, and used by walkers, cyclists, tuk-tuks, golf carts, and cars, but the distances are not too far. The choices of restaurants, SUP, yoga, Pilates, zip lining, horseback riding, and beaches are plentiful. In the evening, there are bars, music, and dancing. There are also several mini-supers where you can get a “grab and go” meal, or a full size grocery where you can buy ingredients for a dinner at home. Our routine included morning exercise walking on the beach or taking a class, then a smoothie at the Harmony Juice Bar while catching up on email/Facebook. We visited several friends’ rental properties in Nosara, and nothing matched the “rightness” of the Ranch. It is designed to be “of its surroundings,” not an “import” from the US, and it works. The breezes from the surrounding hills keep it cool, there is plenty of fresh water, the stillness and privacy is complete, and the view of the starry sky is uninterrupted. We counted ourselves lucky to be near enough to the action of Nosara to participate, but far enough away to have our own oasis.

What a gorgeous property. The views are to die for.The furnishings were very comfortable and the home is well stocked with anything you would need in the kitchen or on day excursions. Any questions or suggestions can be answered by the ranch manager who speaks 4 languages. That staff is warm and friendly and eager to make your stay perfect. I would highly recommend this property. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need a car at Rancho Rio Montana?
A: Yes, you will need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Rancho Rio Montana is located on the ridge line above the small village of Ostional. To travel the roads to and from the house a four wheel drive vehicle is necessary.
Q: What makes our vacation home special?
A: Our house was built by us as a labor of love: from the 'eco friendly' features to the custom wood work built entirely with wood harvested on the Ranch. The tranquility and privacy of the Ranch location is unique and what we love the most. When asked, our family and virtually all of our guests will tell you that the horseback riding on the Ranch with the cowboys is there very favorite activity. As wonderful as it is to hang out at the beach there is something special about leaving all the heat and dust behind and heading up to the Ranch at the end of the day to enjoy the cooling breezes and spectacular sunsets.
Q: What is the coolest nearby activity?
A: Many people will say the the zip lining with Miss Sky is the coolest activity. With over 21 stops through mountain ridges and valleys Miss Sky is the longest zip lining tour in the world.
Q: How close is the ranch to the turtle nesting reserve in Ostional?
A: Rancho Rio Montana is about 2 miles from the Ostional Wildlife Refuge. Ostional is the nesting site for the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle. The turtles come ashore to lay their eggs at the start of the last quarter moon.
