Thompson Lake is located in Oxford, Otisfield, Casco and Poland. It is spring-fed by the Poland Spring Aquifer and is considered one of the most pristine lakes in Maine. The lake is 12 miles long (4426 acres) and can be over 100 feet deep in some areas. The shoreline is fun to explore as it has many characteristics depending upon where you are. Some of the lake's shoreline is rocky, some beaches, some undeveloped areas, and there are many varied lake houses and cottages that are fun to view from a boat, canoe or kayak. It's also fun to see the sailboats finding their way around the lake. Use our canoe or kayaks to explore the lake, or the close by marina has boats for rent. Also, snorkeling can be such an adventure! Nature is at it's finest when you spot the ducks, deer, eagles, various species of fish, and enjoy the sight and sounds of loons on the lake. So, bring your own or rent a motor boat and enjoy this quiet beautiful lake. Enjoy the sunrises and sunsets on the Lake!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you have things to do that are within a close proximity on a rainy day?
A: Yes, there is a movie theater and a candle pin bowling alley about 20 minutes away.
Q: Are you close to grocery stores or farm stands?
A: We have Hannaford Supermarket and a Super Walmart within 15 minutes of our home. We also have a wonderful farmstand that is called Smedberg's nearby.
Q: How close are you to the lake and how is it for young children?
A: Our home sits about 30 feet from the lakeside. Thompson Lake is very large, however we are in a cove that is shallow and calm. Our water's edge starts at just a few inches deep and gets to be about 4 feet at the end of our dock. This makes it easier for younger child to be more comfortable exploring the water.
Q: Is there a marina on the lake?
A: Yes, there is Thompson Lake marina where you can rent a boat for the day if you would like.
Q: Can we use the two kayaks and canoe that are there at your home?
A: Yes, you have access to the kayaks and canoe as well as any of the inflatable floats that are in the garage.
