Description of the Oxford vacation townhouse rental
Welcome to Captains House, Holidays in Hythe.

Captains House is comfortable Georgian period holiday home which has been fully refurbished to provide accommodation for 6 holiday makers and includes 3 double bedrooms, with 3 bathrooms and all modern amenities. The rear, south facing, garden is fully walled with garage parking.

Excellently situated overlooking the Waterfront Green, Hythe Pier & Southampton Water and centrally placed with short 150 meter level walks to both the Old Village centre and Hythe Marina Village.

Hythe has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and has a High Street advantage of Waitrose, one of Britain's top supermarkets just a few minutes walk from Captains House.

Southampton Port is the home to many of the Worlds leading cruise liners. During the season P&O and Cunard liners are frequent visitors as they make their inward and outward journeys around the world.

Throughout the day and night ships of all sizes and types may be seen close at hand as they slip gently past. Cunards new and famous QM2 is a regular visitor and her berth, within view of the Waterfront Green, is almost opposite Hythe.

The open walks of the New Forest National Park are just 2 miles and only 5 minutes by car an excellent local golf course with a restaurant having splendid views over the course with a backdrop of Cunards QM2 berth in the distance.

Area Information
In a Unrivalled prominent position it is overlooking The Green, Hythe Pier and facing Southampton Water. Situated centrally within the conservation area of Old Hythe it commands superb views.

Hythe, where the Forest meet the Sea, boasts of having the oldest working pier train in the world. Its narrow gauge railway takes passengers to the pier head where the short trip is taken to Southampton.

The village, together with its mixture of Georgian, Victorian and modern architecture, has many shops and is fortunate to have one of Britain's favourite supermarkets, a small Waitrose, where excellence in foods may be found.

There are a variety of local inns and restaurants within the village and marina, where a complete choice of foods are served.

A free of charge public slipway is available for launching dinghies and powerboats. Short term boat
storage is available from Hythe Marina.

The open walks in the New Forest are just 3 miles away. Exbury Gardens, with its train ride through the Rhododendrons gardens and Beaulieu Palace, with the renowned Motor Museum, are all within 15 minutes drive.

Two separate sandy/shingle beaches for swimming and sail boarding are at approximately 6 miles
distance. Horse riding, golf, indoor swimming/sauna, rock climbing, track cycling and dry skiing are also available in the 'Hythe & Waterside' areas.

Power Rib Boat lessons may be taken at the Marina, 2 minutes walk away. Bicycle hire is available within the village. Hythe also has an open air market each Tuesday.

A 15 minute trip on the Hythe Ferry leaves every 30 minutes throughout the day. It will take you to Southampton and passes closely to Southampton's Dock Head.

The Isle of Wight is approximately 30 minutes by Hydrofoil or a 60 minute Car Ferry trip and ferries depart hourly from Southampton, adjacent to the Hythe Ferry landing jetty.

A little further afield, approximately 10 to 12 miles, we have the countryside towns of Lyndhurst and Lymington. Within 35 minutes by car, the City of Winchester, capital of Wessex, and at 40 minutes drive, Salisbury, famous for the highest Cathedral spire in England. The resort of Bournemouth with its fine sandy beaches is just 40/50 minutes drive.

But why travel?

Just relax and watch the World of Cruising pass your sitting room window. An ever changing vista from...... "Captains House"
