Description of the Oxnard vacation home rental
Three-story house ... Thirty second walk to AA rated Hollywood beach- the best beach in Oxnard. The top floor is the master suite and has panoramic views of the beach, harbor and mountains. It is furnished with a king-sized bed, queen sofa bed, two chests of drawers and a desk in the work area. There is also a gas fireplace for a truly cozy experience on a cold winter's night. Just off the master suite you can step onto a deck with wonderful views of the ocean and harbor and on a clear day, the beautiful Channel Islands. Sit out on the deck in the morning with your coffee and hear the sounds of the ocean. The spacious master bath has a double shower, double sink, tub for two, and a huge walk-in closet. The second floor has a large living area with a combination living room/dining room/kitchen. The dining table seats eight and there are 5 barstools for extra seating at the large kitchen counter. There is a covered deck off the dining area with ocean views. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. There is another deck next to the kitchen with a pass through window from the kitchen. The five burner electric range is adjacent to the window so you can slide through your hot food right onto a counter on the deck. There are great views of the harbor and a table that easily seats six on the deck. There is a charcoal bbq for your use. The second floor also has a bedroom with a queen sized bed and a full bath. The first floor has two bedrooms. One is furnished with twin bunkbeds. It also has a desk, a large closet and lots of storage. The other bedroom is furnished with a daybed, trundle and full sized futon, a coffee table and chairs. This room also has its own refrigerator, sink, microwave, tv with dvd, and lots of storage. This bedroom can be locked off and then the house is rented as a three bedroom house at a reduced rate for a group of less than 5 guests during the off season for monthly rentals. The bathroom on the first floor is included if the fourth bedroom is rented. The first floor has a one car garage with a washer/dryer. Also, there is an outdoor shower and a small deck that is sheltered from the wind. There is also a patio that is enclosed and sheltered from the wind. The house is not baby-proofed and may not be appropriate for active toddlers, or those with difficulties climbing stairs. But it is great for families with kids over 5 or infants. There is also an enclosed dog run. In summer the house only rents from Monday to Monday, Friday to Friday, Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday. All the following rates includes the cleaning fee for summer: $3000/week; $1550 weekend; $1850 M-F. Area Info
The house is across from Channel Islands Harbor and the new Maritime museum. It is walking distance to boat rentals including electric boats, kayaks, and peddle boats. You can also rent pedicabs and bicycles. It is near to restaurants, shopping, miniature golf, regular golf and museums. The beach is one of the most beautiful, deep beaches in southern California. It is rated A/A. Great for boogie boarding or surfing, or swimming. While it is a public beach and has a lifeguard in summer, it never feels the least bit crowded. Channel Islands can be toured by boat. A public boat launch is very near--you are welcome to bring your boat. There is a farmer's market every Sunday very near by. In summer there are concerts in the park and outdoor plays for children. Special events are almost all with in walking distance- such as the Whale Festival, July 4th carnival, and boat parade.

Beautiful Home

September 16, 2015

This was a beautiful home, although somewhat eclectic. It does sleep 9, really more. But not really 9 adults comfortably. There are two queen sized beds. The other sleeping arrangements are a trundle bed, futon, bunk bed, sofa sleeper and a mattress. It is in a great location, across the street from the beach, close to many restaurants and things to do. The house had a great kitchen with tons of dishes, glasses, cups, pots and pans, baking and serving dishes. Lots of TVs, games, movies. Unfortunately it was unseasonably warm and there was no air conditioning (why would there be in a house on the beach?), but few fans. Even with the windows open, it was warm. I was very stressed with following the check out requirements, hoping not to be charged for a discrepancy. But it was great to have my brothers and husband together to celebrate my retirement. The rental price was more than fair.

A home away from home

April 6, 2015

In March, my family and I needed a home away from home and this beach house was just that for us. We came to CA. for our daughter's wedding. We had lots to get done in a short amount of time... It was wonderful at the end of the day to have this place to come home to. It fulfilled every desire I had. Enjoyed our stay immensely! It's close to the beach, has bikes if you care to ride, and a roomy garage to pull in to when coming home in the evening. I recommend this house. It's roomy and a great price. I also found the owner to be incredibly helpful and friendly. Thanks Janna!

Exceeded Expectations!

October 18, 2014

This Beautiful Beach Home in Oxnard truly exceeded our expectations. We felt the pictures on the website did not fully convey the value and beauty of this home. Seven of us descended upon this house for a girls weekend get-away, and had a fabulous time. We all do plan on coming back again! From the beginning, Suzanne was incredibly organized and attentive to our needs. Expectations were clear and she did return all emails within 24 hours - sometimes within 10 minutes. Of our group of seven women, none of us had vacationed in Oxnard before and did conclude that it was the perfect location for us. We all live in Santa Clarita and a couple of us have long commutes for work and therefore did not want to drive far. With a quick and easy trip on the 126, we were in Oxnard and at the beach house in under an hour. The house comfortably accommodated the seven of us and Oxnard offered a lot of activities as the website indicates minus the "hustle and bustle" of the many beach communities in southern California. In addition, Oxnard is very bike friendly offering over 35 miles of bike trails/bike lanes. Personally, I feel there is no better place than a beach and during our stay we did have great California weather. The wind did kick up at night arresting any attempts for an enjoyable evening beach walk; however, we did not mind retreating back to the house early. If you are looking to vacation in a beautiful home steps from the beach located in a charming community, this is the perfect place to go. Two thumbs up from us!

Owner's reply:

Thank you for your positive feedback. I strive to be attentive and offer a different experience from distant owners and disinterested property managers.

Blast From the Past at Hollywood Beach

July 24, 2012

The Hollywood Beach Shack was definitely worth an arduous rendezvous from Florida and Washington, D.C. when family members flew standby to attend our eldest daughter's wedding in Oxnard this summer. As the site shows, the Beach Shack is a compound unto itself surrounded by almost cookie-cutter units by comparison. The charm of the 1920's getaway combined with the modernity of Ikea furnishings and comfort of luxury linens, towels, and throws made for a magical stay during the often hectic and exciting demands of the wedding. Our party consisted of 2 married couples, 3 adult siblings, and one 2 year old granddaughter, all of whom enjoyed private bedrooms and spacious common areas. The full kitchen offered practically cooked meals. An interior washer/dryer allowed needed laundering. The upper veranda afforded a beautiful beach and hill view with private spaces to read or sun. The beach is just a few minutes jaunt across the way. Parking was available for 3 vehicles. We lacked nothing including laundry soap! When we wanted a sink stopper to scrub pots and pans, the office took our call and delivered by next day. The neighborhood is quiet. The locals friendly. Mrs. Olson's restaurant is a quick walk as are other shops if the car is left behind. Communications with the owner were timely, thorough, and gracious. We would love to stay at the Shack again, and with Daughter Number 2 attending school in Santa Barbara, another West Coast Wedding may be in the future. One does not need a practical reason to enjoy the aesthetics and down-right quirkiness of the Shack. The talent and love of the owners evidenced by their refurbishing rather than demo of the old property is a warm welcome for the traveler who is weary of the Same-old Same-old in beach condos. Look for the Stately Rock declaring the efforts of the 12 year old boy who (with some help from his dad) redesigned the Shack in the '70s... Our family had a Memorable Experience rather than just Another Stay.

Your home provided the perfect escape for our family. So spacious and comfortable. Everyone just loved the accomodations. The weather was perfect for sitting out and the beach was the best one that we've ever been too. The location was perfect. Would highly recommend your beach house.
