About the area

The home is located in the private residential community known as Hawaiian Beaches located just three short miles from Pahoa Town, and 20 miles south of Hilo Town (Hilo International Airport). Pahoa is one of the sunniest spots on the east side of the Big Island. The beautiful Ahalanui Hot Ponds are approximately 20 minutes away, and Volcanoes National Park is approximately 60 minutes away. Although it is the youngest of the Hawaiian archipelago, The Big Island of Hawaii is twice as big as all the other Hawaiian islands combined, with a diverse climate that features all but two of the world's climate zones. Securing a Big Island home rental is the ideal place to call home while discovering all its magnificence. Hawaiian Beaches Vacation Cottage Rentals makes your search for Big Island home rentals simple, with an impressive selection of family friendly or romantic accommodations. Appropriately nicknamed "The Island of Adventures", Hawaii's Big Island is not only the largest island of the Hawaiian chain but perhaps the most diverse in terms of climate and landscape from one coast to the other. From lush tropical rainforests and powerful waterfalls, to walk-in lava tubes and barren volcanic landscapes, visiting the Big Island of Hawaii offers travelers a chance to immerse themselves in Hawaiian culture, marvel at the beauty of nature and relish in the most relaxing of accommodations. "The Big Island Vacations" packages can provide travelers the chance to explore all that the Big Island has to offer without breaking the bank.

“Great stay at a sweet cottage”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2016

Looking for the opportunity to live more like a local, I rented Hale Akule for a month. From the very start, before I landed on the island, Anselmo- the owner- was very helpful, giving me suggestions to make the most out of my stay. The cottage is located a couple miles outside of Pahoa and within short distances to a lot of attractions on the island. Local services included restaurants, used bookstore, hardware, pharmacy, groceries, etc. There is a wonderful free community pool with lap swim and water aerobics classes. The tastefully decorated and clean cottage was outfitted with everything I needed for an extended stay. A full kitchen, bathroom with tub, washer/dryer combo and nice, firm beds helped round out the two beds, one bath home. The lanai is very generously sized, perfect for hanging out, enjoying the outdoors and watching the sunrise and sunsets of the day. Anselmo even provided beach gear that included towels, boogie board, cooler and snorkeling gear. As part of my package, he arranged a rental car (Honda SUV) and pick up from the airport (hassle free and very convenient). I was so comfortable here that not only do I plan to return, I asked to buy the cottage! Being a good sport, Anselmo gently declined my offer, but is kindly letting me rent again. All in all, a great stay, excellent value for my money and a stress free vacation in a sweet cottage.

“Great value”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2016

Very nice size, with a large lanai, worked well for our family. They have everything you need: boards, snorkel gear, full kitchen and the owners are very easy to work with. Loved having fruit trees on site, only the citrus was ripe at the time. About 40 minutes to Volcano, 20 to Hilo.

Owner's reply: Aloha Kathy & ‘ohana (family), We are grateful to have such pleasant guests. It means a great deal to us to know that you truly enjoyed your stay with us. We work hard to live up to your expectations and strive to exceed them. You and your ‘ohana are always welcome as our ‘ohana . . . Mahalo (thank you), A.T. “Our Hale Akule Summer Stay”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2015

This Hale (House) is a quite and cute 2 bedroom. With a lush green yard and tropical plants as a great view while enjoying meals, coffee, or guest to the Lanai (Patio) with the cool island breeze. The full kitchen allowed us to cook as if we were at home. We use the oven to make many of our own meals at home. So it was great to have one during our stay. I loved having a washer and dryer at the Hale. It's always nice to go home and not have to unpack dirty clothes. The Hale is located across the street and walking distance from "Da Store" a small local convenient store in the area. We had a great time during our stay and will definitely look into this rental again for the future. And have already recommend it to others. Great value, great location, great quality and most or all Great People! Thank you Anselmo for your great hospitality!

Owner's reply: Aloha Mr. and Mrs. Correa and ‘ohana, We are grateful to have had you and your ohana as our guests. Mahalo to you and your ohana for taking such good care of our hale (home). It means a great deal to us to know that you truly enjoyed your stay with us. You and your ohana are welcome anytime to stay with us and we will gladly welcome you again as our special guests. “Superb, vacation on a buget”

Reviewed 1 Feb 2015

The Hale Akule vacation cottage is in a great location, just a short bike ride to the big blue Pacific Ocean. We enjoyed the Banyan Tree and morning coffee from the spacious lanai. The house itself is very clean, comfortable and quaint, not to mention the almost half acre fenced yard for the kids could play on. Having the kitchen (with everything we needed) made meals easy (we did breakfast every morning) and a BBQ every night, got to love a Hawaiian BBQ! It was as if we came home to Hawaii. The vacation cottage has a nice washer and dryer on the lanai that helped for packing less clothes and gave us more space to bring souvenirs and trinkets home. Nothing has been forgotten; just bring yourself and a few clothes. Anselmo has thought of pretty much everything that is needed for a nice vacation. A variety of places to eat and shopping are within biking distance. This was our second trip to "The Big Island" but first time renting a home in Pahoa. The central location on the island is convenient as you can spend all day on either side. Be sure to explore the little side roads, especially the ones that go to the ocean. We saw places we had not seen at all on our first trip! Anselmo, the property owner, is very easy to work with and he replies to emails and any questions promptly. We highly recommend this vacation cottage and its owners!

Owner's reply: Aloha Mr. Alcott and ʻohana, We are grateful to have such delightful guests. You and your family have been most gracious with your kind words. It means a great deal to us to know that you truly enjoyed your stay with us. We work hard to live up to your expectations and strive to exceed them all. Mahalo, A.T.
