Royal Cove House, with its 3 ocean-view suites (bedrooms with en-suite baths & lanais) is ideal for 3 couples. The 4th bedroom comfortably sleeps 3 adults or 4 children in a queen and full size beds. Two of the suites have king beds & one has a queen bed. The home is a great place to observe regularly-seen green sea turtles in the cove while enjoying conversation, morning coffee, or an evening drink overlooking Royal Cove, Kapoho Bay & beyond.

The home's spacious great room (864 sq. ft.), with living, kitchen & dining, has ample comfortable seating in the living room area & at the dining table. In addition, there is a reading area and counter bar chairs at the kitchen, with an ocean view throughout. For outside living, there are 4 lanais (over 800 sq. ft.). The largest is off the great room, where you can prepare the evening meal on a BBQ, dine, and relax while enjoying the tropical ocean view.

Our semi-private cove, shared with 3 other homes, is geothermally heated in spots, and protected from major wave action. It offers a relatively calm place to swim or kayak. It is full of fish and has a few different habitats. The shallow areas are a fish nursery, where you can get close up views of numerous babies: tangs, Picasso triggerfish, Bird, Saddle, and Surge wrasses, box fish, butterfly fish, and more. Around the underwater rock piles in the deeper water to the left side, you will see big parrot fish, surgeon fish, chubs, large butterfly fish of several types, and will often find an underwater Hawaiian Green sea turtle. There are many more species of fish to be seen here that are not mentioned. You can also snorkel outside of the cove around the point (children should be with an adult, as it can be rougher out there) and see more habitats and fish. We have several sets of snorkel gear and fins for our guests. Fishing is allowed.

About the area

Ask about using our kayaks. We have 3: One is a stable double kayak; the other two are singles, one of which is for more experienced kayakers. We have a variety of sizes of life jackets, and require their use for kayaking. Unless the bay is very rough, experienced kayakers can explore the entire area, including kayaking over to Champagne Pond on the other side of KapohoBay. Champagne Pond is known for its calm, consistently warm water and sea turtles. The Waiopae marine preserve (aka Kapoho Tide pools), is a short drive or 20 minute walk away. It is 50 acres of world-class snorkeling, with calm, clear, shallow water, and many species of beautiful fish and coral. It is excellent for beginners, as it is so calm and clear, and for experts, who will be able to identify numerous fish, coral, and invertebrate species, including many endemic to Hawaii.
