May in Current - Hibiscus House

June 23, 2014

Our group of 2 couples had a wonderful week staying in the Hibiscus House in Current, Eleuthera. The house is really nice, everything you could ask. James Monroe does an excellent job taking care of both the place and the people who visit. I suggest talking to him about getting his mother in law to come and cook a true Bahamian dinner for you (really good). All the extras around the house are very good, the kayaks provide good transportation to the CUT for fishing or snorkeling. To us this appears to be one of few houses that has an EXCELLENT BEACH and nearby access to interesting snorkeling locations - nearby live bottom and short paddle from the cut. The tiki hut provides relief from the sun when needed and is a good recent addition. The owner, Jack, does a good job of making sure everything is working and is good an answering any/all quesitons. This was our first trip to the Bahamas and it won't be our last. The people are one of the main reasons we will be back. They are great and their no worries attitude is contagious. A lot on Eleuthera is not the most modern BUT there wasn't anything we wanted that we couldn't get and it was like taking a step back in time which was unusually good too.
