Reviews for this vacation apartment rental in Paris, Ile de France, France

Tight for three
February 7, 2014
The apartment was small for three people. The bath and kitchen were good. It was clean. The park across the street was noisy when school kids were there, otherwise fine and a good shortcut to the grocery store. Good boulangerie and restaurant a block away. Nice walk to Monmartre. Good location, three blocks from the Metro and food outlets.
A bit disappointed
July 1, 2013
We came in the door and just stared at the room. Very disappointed with how the place was ran down. I even called the manager to see if I can just cancel the whole reservation and all he said was, how am I supposed to find other occupants? The whole place needed care, or update and a very very thorough cleaning. The shower area that was sparkling on the website photos was the opposite in reality. It glass/plastic enclosure was clouded with soap scum, the bathroom walls have mold and mildew. We booked for a week's stay and we were provided with one roll of toilet paper. When I texted the manager were they kept extra rolls, he replied back saying the store down the street sells them. We had to stay because we prepaid and i had the impression that he was not giving it back as he won't have anybody else stay in it. I am sure that this place was once a pleasant place to stay, and maybe because of the location , it gets booked a lot. But the manager/owner should have a better way to keep up the place, it can't always be profit, one also has to spend money to keep the place up, or hire better people to clean the place up. Good luck to future tenants. Don't keep your hopes up.
Maria-Claudia Rincon - Sunny Isles Beach - FLORIDA - USA - April 2009- We just returned to the United States from your family vacation to Paris. The apartment we rented from you was wonderful and added to the vacation experience. The apartment was centrally located to nearly every attraction, the metro, and street shopping. It also had a great view of the Paris. My wife enjoyed the apartment so much, she now wants to purchase one in Paris. I would certainly recommend the apartment to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Paris. Additionally, the transaction on the internet was smooth and easy. All the best and I look forward to our next visit to Paris. - Maria-Claudia Rincon - Sunny Isles Beach - FLORIDA - USA - April 2009
Christina and Glenn - USA - November 2008 - We love this charming apartment in the 14th! We stayed two weeks in October and were treated to full sunlight because of the many windows in the apartment, and how many other apartments in Paris can boast a balcony view of the Eiffel Tower !
Don't miss the twinkling lights each hour when night falls. Sylvain's apartment is spacious and bright. The 6th floor location was quiet and made us feel like real Parisians! The neighborhood in the 14th is fantastic, and we enjoyed this less touristic part of Paris.
It's very easy to walk everywhere as well as taking the Metro and bus. There are many markets, supermarkets, and of course, bakeries! There is a little park made up of a series of square along the rue Vercingetorix that was perfect for morning runs. On Wednesday evenings, one can walk up the Raymond Losserand to the Rue Lebouis and visit the gallery of the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson and see amazing photographs for free. We look forward to returning to this charming apartment! Christina and Glenn - USA - November 2008

My wife and I really enjoyed our month stay in the apartment. It was in a very good location and had all the basic elements necessary to meet our needs during our stay. Importantly, it was an excellent value versus other options we had investigated. We recommend this apartment as a very good place for an extended stay in Paris.Particularly exciting was the wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower from the apartment balcony (24/7) - especially at night!

Our stay at the apartment in Montparnasse was everything we hoped for.
It is very central to the metro, restaurants, supermarkets, and of course about 4 bakeries.
Sylvain, the owner, organised for a car to pick us up at the airport at our request. Unfortunately, we missed our connection and we rang Sylvain to change the pick up time.
The car was there but we had lost our luggage in transit!!! Eventually our luggage was delivered to our door.
We looked out at the Eiffel tower every morning and evening. We loved that balcony. We even had some buskers one morning in the street below!!!!! Internet connection is available to keep in contact with family and friends.
The apartment has lots of storage space, a small kitchen and even a washing machine is available. We would stay there again next time we go to Paris.
Merci beaucoup Sylvain!!!!!

Adi and I , your guests from israel, wish to thank you for the most perfect holiday flat.
We spent almost a month in it and enjoyed every moment. It is amazing how much
40 sq.m. really are when they are well arranged. We never felt cramped and even managed to cook some wonderful meals in the small but well equiped kitchen. Who needs more for a vacation in Paris. Needless to say that the location too was perfect and I really can't think of any problems we encountered. Our only wish remains to return to Paris and you can be sure we will again contact you again.
All the best, good luck, Judy @ adi.

I just want to thank you for the pleasant stay we had in your apartment.
We very much appreciated the apartment with two balconies and nice atmosphere.
What we also very much liked was the surroundings, with all the shops and restaurants within walking distance.
I hope you found the apartment in good order after we left.
We will really recommend our friends to stay in your apartment next time they go to Paris, and we would like to come also about the same time next year.
Best regards and allt the best!

I'd corresponded with Sylvain a few times before booking. He was always very prompt and informative and professional in dealing with him. His site was expressive and complete and I the price was great so I was happy to reserve his apartment for a week in November. When I arrive I was met by his sister who checked me in and gave me the keys and helped me sort out the wifi connection. She had me read through an inventory of the apartment which contained all the prices for any objects that would have to be replaced. I found this thorough way of outlining everything in advance very comforting - in that it was clear that even though I was staying in a place that had a personal feel and direct contact with the owner, we were also following a set of rules to govern our conduct and not just winging it or making things up as we go along. Since I am a fair person and expect others to the same, having his expectations of me and mine of him all clear in advance made me sure that there would be no surprises.
As for the location, I wasn't that concerned with what neighborhood I was in since I knew I would be taking the subway everywhere. Montparnasse, although not known for being the trendiest or hippest neighborhood, certainly has everything one could need. There were about 4 bakeries with a few blocks, one of which was organic. Plenty of food nearby and two metro stations. It is a real, fairly blue-collar neighborhood and reflects a side of Paris that is true to life in Paris. At night it was well lit up with holiday lights crossing the street and there was certainly enough activity going on to not feel isolated.
As for the apartment itself, I had booked it because I wanted a kitchen and internet access. When you enter you have a small toilet to the left (typical of France to have the toilet and shower separate, and that the toilet is near the door, for some reason). The kitchen is small and I wouldn't say equipped for large meals or anything elaborate, but coffee and filters and oil and vinegar are all provided. After the first day of breakfast out and a terrible caffe au lait, I was much happier popping down to one of the bakeries for a fresh baguette and making my own coffee and having some bread and butter and fruit. There is a tub with a curtain so you can either shower standing or bathe. No problems there. The bedroom is quiet and the bed, a 140 cm french double, was very comfortable.
The living room is really what I grew to love about this apartment. In the morning I would wake up early and put on some classical music on the stereo (which can also have an ipod plugged in or play cd's) and I'd open the drapes and fiddle about on the computer as the sun came up. Since the apartment is on the 6th floor, with elevator, when the sun comes up, the morning light brightens the room and just made it feel very light and airy and comfortable. I was happy to come back there every night and could have easily pass many more mornings with a cup of coffee, a pain au chocolat, and some classical music.
Overall, I recommend the apartment for parties of 1 to 4 people, who want to use the kitchen for very basic needs, and want to see a typical side of Parisian life without having to raise their budget too high. Ultimately, what you save by staying at Sylvain's can then go toward taxis, lunches and dinners out and all sorts of other things that all considered, turn a mediocre stay into a great one.

Our recent trip to Paris was made more enjoyable thanks to our stay in this apartment. The location and the apartment is ideal for both a quick weekend get away, or a long trip to Paris. The location is great for dining out and if required perfect for shopping at gourmet shops with a lovely cheese shop, many bakery's, fish monger etc all around the corner. And although the apartment is so close to the action its also very quiet and relaxing. There is a gorgeous little balcony which has views of the Eiffel Tower, and looks over a lovely Parisian street. It's very close to two tube stations, which is handy depending on the line you need to catch. It's also very close to some great retail shopping, for those of you wanting to grab a new outfit for your French holiday. The hospitality of Sylvain makes for a relaxing stay, he is very helpful and speaks perfect English, for those of you not confident with your French. We will definitely be returning.

I was quite pleased to stay at Sylvan's apartment on the 14 arrondissement in Paris along with my family. We were a total of three people and we were able to comfortably stay at the apartment. Pictures seen on the show you a bit of what the apartment has, yet one thing it does not show is the surroundings, which offers a very accessible neighborhood. On the corner of the street where the building is located one can find all sorts of French wines....tempting one to say "why not?...since one is in France". In front you have the 'boulangerie" where each morning I walked to get fresh made croissants, baguettes and several other breads. One thing I particularly liked about the location was how closed the metro station Pernety was to the apartment, just three short blocks away. This allowed me and my family to move through Paris freely knowing we could always catch the metro when needed and be at the apartment in a short time. The elevator was also a plus, since after going up and down the stairs through out the whole day and after walking many wonderful cobblestone streets, one can appreciate the lift and the relief of only pressing twice #6 and arriving at the needed floor. The balcony was also a nice added feature as I enjoyed seeing late at night the light of the Eiffel Tower and the 10 minutes of blinking lights. Sylvain is a very approachable owner and one who is hands on, on the occasion I contacted him about details on the apartment, he came that same day and attended them. Staying at an apartment like the one Sylvan's offers it is quite advantageous.

This apartment is in a great location near the centre of Paris. It is only a 10 minute walk to Montpanasse, which is good for shopping and eating. It is also only 50 metres to the nearest Metro station. There are plenty of local restaurants in the immediate area, so you can get a feel of Parisian life. The one bedroom apartment was clean and simple, which included a small kitchen and laundry facilities; the furnishings were basic but functional. TV included cable connection so we could find some English programs and the wireless broadband connection for my laptop was excellent. We were very well looked after by the owner's sister, who thankfully was able to arrange to let us in just as we arrived, and even though this accommodation was separate to the owner's house, she was very helpful throughout our stay. The apartment is easily reached from either airport via train linking to the Metro from CDG or Bus then Metro from Orly.
I can recommend this apartment for someone that wants to feel like a Parisian as opposed to a hotel stay.
My husband and I enjoyed staying in this apartment so much that we continue to stay there whenever we are in Paris. This apartment has all the amenities that one would want-free internet, washing machine, cable TV, etc. We have always found it to be extremely clean and comfortable. It is located in a nice area, less than a minute's walk from the Pernety metro station. Anyone who has been to Paris knows that the subway system is extensive and the most important thing is to be located close to a metro so as to allow accessibility to the centre of Paris, and although the apartment is not near Champs Elysee/ Louvre, every place is convenient by metro. There is a grocery shop (Monoprix) nearby, as are many good restaurants and bars. The apartment owner is very friendly and helpful, and this apartment feels like home to us!
