About the area

32 rue St. Paul is located in the heart of le Marais (the 4th arrondissement), what many consider the most beautiful and historic neighborhood in Paris. Most of the buildings in the Marais date from the 17th and 18th centuries, and the narrow streets, beautiful squares, and stunning architecture provide for hours of delightful rambling and exploration. We have three metros close by: St. Paul, Pont Marie and Bastille. The studio is within easy walking distance of the Place de Vosges, the Bastille, the river Seine, Ile St.-Louis, Notre Dame, the new Paris Opera House (at Bastille), theaters, cinema, open markets and shopping of every sort (be sure to pop into the charming Village St. Paul, right across the street, with its many antique shops and cobble-stoned courtyards). You ''''''ll find a multitude of museums in the immediate vicinity: cf. especially the world-renowned Picasso Museum, the Musée Cognacq-Jay, where you not only get wonderful artworks but an 18th-century mansion, the Maison Internationale de la photographie, the Musée Victor Hugo at the Place de Vosges, the Musée Carnavalet, the latter two of which now have the added bonus of being free! Just across rue St. Antoine, the Hotel de Sully nearly always has first-rate exhibits ''''''definitely worth checking out. The Pompidou Center is also within walking distance, with its excellent Museum of Modern Art, its many permanent and special exhibits, and fabulous views.

“A week in May”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2016

This lovely studio apartment was perfect for our holiday in Paris. It contained everything that we required. The area is central to all the most interesting places in Paris. The metro was close to hand but we only needed it once as the center of the city was within walking distance, even going to the Opera for the evening on foot. We simply loved our time there and the delightfully French home that we returned to each night.

“We keep going back”

For 7 years we have annually stayed for 2 week periods at this apartment. The location is simply perfect being a few minute walk to two metro/subway stops while Notre Dame and the Left Bank are 10 minutes on foot. Walk from this location to many tourist and local sites such as Marche Aligre, Pere LaChaise Cemetery, the Louvre, place Bastille, Place des Voges and remember you are in the Marais, the most popular area of Paris. We have spent 14 weeks over 7 years in this apartment. It offers all the amenities one needs for a visit of a few days or a longer stay. What more can one say than 7 times? We love it.

“Wonderful apartment”

My wife and I honeymooned in Paris and found this apartment to be the perfect, cozy place to stay. The apartment is in a great location - very convenient to so many things. Can't wait to return! Thanks.

Owner's reply: We were honored to host Tamra and Nicole for their honeymoon trip to the City of Light, and are delighted that they had a good stay.

“Paris Match”

Reviewed 11 Feb 2014

A wonderful, charming studio in my favorite area of Paris, very close to wonderful restaurants, Notre Dame, Place de Voges, Marais museums and shopping, the metro, etc. You can walk to 80% of what you want to see in Paris from here. The owners are incredibly accommodating, responsive and reliable, and the very well maintained studio is well-equipped with everything from cookbooks to guides to cookware, wi fi, etc. It's both a gem and a true bargain. It's perfect for two people, and the owners provide excellent recommendations for local dining and sightseeing. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

“A wonderful place”

Reviewed 19 Mar 2013

The apartment in the Marais was wonderful. Small, charming and so so centrally located. Have been recommending this place to friends. The place was easy to find and access. The area was quiet, though one day when we were late to leave we were greeted with a chorus of schoolchildren at play. Although small it has all the amenities that we could want and it is close to the Monoprix for any possible supplies. We were able to walk to most everything that we wanted to visit. And even more telling we would stay there again!

“Perfect Accomodation in the Marais”

Reviewed 29 Dec 2012

We have stayed in several apartments in the Paris i and can't say enough about this charming apartment. It is perfect for a couple who want the perfect location in the Marais. We found that it was equipped with everything one needs from cooking utensils to umbrellas to guide books and anything else you might need to make your stay very comfortable. We liked being on the ground floor in a very safe building. The rent was reasonable and the owners were very accomodating. We definitely would go back and highly recommend this apartment.

“parisian perfection”

I never could never have imagined such a perfect little abode to live in while in the city of lights...The view could not have been better and the location enabled me to walk everywhere I wanted to even as far as the Bastille. The apartment was equipped with all the amenities that I needed. Merci Alexis!

“Perfect Marais Getaway”

Reviewed 19 Mar 2012

This studio is a perfect place to stay for you and one other person. I have stayed here twice now with my daughter. It's perfectly located, a three minute walk to the St. Paul Metro station, on perhaps the most useful Metro line in Paris (Louvre, Hotel de Ville Champs Elysees). Also within three minutes are all the incredible restaurants, shops and galleries of the Marais. The apartment itself is small, but has everything one needs, including a complete and very well-stocked kitchen and a very comfortable bed. While it's on the first floor, it's not at all noisy as the apartment looks out onto an interior courtyard. Right down the street are an English language bookstore, the Museum of Magic, and about two minutes away, the Seine and then Ile St. Louis. We love this apartment and will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Paris.

“The original bijou apartment?”

Reviewed 17 May 2010

This studio apartment in the heart of Paris is one of the most compact you will come across, yet it has everything you need for a comfortable and convenient stay, ingeniously fitted into its small space. Its position is wonderful too: you can walk to many of the main attractions such as the Louvre, Notre Dame, and the islands, and it is only a short walk to either the St-Paul or the Pont Marie Metro station if you want to go further afield. The immediate neighbourhood is full of cafés, restaurants, and food shops as well as quirky antique shops and artists' studios in the Village St-Paul. There are also markets within a few minutes' walk - I enjoyed visiting the one at Bastille. If you want to eat out, there is almost too much choice - but you can save a lot by shopping in the nearby supermarket and health food shop and cooking for yourself. Surely this must be the most convenient pied-a-terre in Paris, a bijou of bijoux. Add to that the friendly and helpful owners, and you have the recipe for a great stay!

“Lovely studio in the heart of Paris”

Reviewed 8 May 2009

This is the third or fourth time we have stayed in this lovely studio appartment in the heart of the Marais. Tastefully furnished, well-equipped, it is an ideal location from which to explore the historic centre of Paris. The local 'quartier' is bustling with life, with plenty of restaurants, take-outs, wine-bars and cafes on your doorstep. And don't miss the charming little 'Village' de St. Paul, with its lovely little antique shops. Highly recommended.
