Area Information
Lovely 20 min. ferry ride from Portland to Peaks Island. Casco Bay is its own world. Be prepared to be delighted. Peaks Island is part of the City of Portland but a world apart with ocean breezes, quiet beaches and an authentic taste of life on the Maine coast.

Catch great refreshing breezes sitting on the Peaks Island Inn porch overlooking Fort Gorges and Little Diamond Island ~ in the day, over fabulous sunsets, or in the moonlight ~ is its own restorative well-spring. Walk down front to Sandy Beach, or meander on an island trail through the interior, Picnic Point juts out into the ocean looking onto Cushing Island.

In 3 minutes you can go to a great and fun vintage, upscale local pub ~ one of 3 restaurant. Or try the cafe, food truck, pizza. The local market, Hannigans,, does carry-out for picnic options.

Also in the neighborhood is a great ice-cream parlor, a gift shop, two art galleries and Umbrella Cover Museum. Often several artist studios are open.

Sit on the porch looking out on Casco Bay and Little Diamond Island in particular, or watch the many incredible sunsets.

A sweet, easy 3-5 min. walk from ferry landing and 'down front' - several shops and restaurants; Sandy Beach is just down the hill from us.

Peaks has lots of public shore access, great biking and hiking, lots of picnic spots.

This place is small but very sweet.

80 percent of Peaks shore is open to public including several nice beaches and great ocean views.

Peaks Island is a great place to spend a week in summer. Our little neighborhood is quiet but has easy walking access to beaches, shops, restaurants and woods.

There is an island taxi and you can rent bikes or bring your own. We have three bikes for your use..

The City of Portland is a brief ferry ride away and the longest beach on the island is down the road.
