Area Information
PEDASI OCEAN PROPERTIES BY VILLA CAMILLA is only 10 kilometers down a country lane through pastureland and tropical dry forest from the fishing village of Pedasi.

Despite increased investment in the village and area, the village has maintained its charming character while adding amenities such as restaurants and bakeries, car and scooter rentals, a dive and scuba shop, a small library, boating and fishing operators and an airstrip welcoming charter and three commercial flights weekly from Panama City.

The Azuero Peninsula, cradle of Panamanian folkloric tradition, is one of those increasingly rare places of wild natural beauty. Here time slows down and slips into the relaxed pace of a bygone era.
Jutting out into the Pacific, it is a land of cowboys and cattle, pristine beaches and colonial towns with tranquil plazas. Fishermen in their shallow-draft pangas troll the waters off Azuero's "Tuna Coast," known internationally for its sports fishing.
Azuero, made up of the Herrera, Los Santos and Veraguas provinces, celebrates over 700 festivals a year, the largest drawing thousands of visitors. Spanish colonial traditions, indigenous and African cultures blend during Carnival celebrations as colorful floats, dance and music fill the streets.
In addition to reforestation efforts across the peninsula, the coastline is spotted with islands designated as wildlife refuges including Isla Iguana and Isla Cañas. Some of the best surfing beaches may also be found on the Peninsula including the famed Venao Beach.

Panama is the southernmost country of Central America. It borders the Caribbean Sea to the North, the Republic of Colombia to the East, the Pacific Ocean to the South and Costa Rica to the West.

Geography ordains Panama as an ecological, cultural and historical crossroad of the World; a meeting point of old and new, East and West, North and South. To the growing number of people choosing to live and vacation in Panama, the country's relative obscurity is unfathomable in light of its attributes including: a stable government and growing economy, the US dollar is the official currency, retiree incentive program, property tax exemption, English is widely spoken, most modern and successful international banking center in Latin America, low crime, low cost of living, no natural disasters, friendly people, natural beauty and ethnic diversity.

AREA ATTRACTIONS (things to do or Leisure)

Beaches: The Azuero Peninsula is bordered by a ribbon of secluded wide tan sand beaches.

Azueros fronts several beaches including Playa Los Destiladeros and Playa Escondido.

The nearby beaches may be explored by foot, mountain bike or horseback. Some of the best surfing beaches can be found in the province especially in Playa Venado, a half hour drive from Azueros.

Islands: Seven kilometers off the coast of Pedasã's Playa Arenal, the Isla Iguana Wildlife Refuge is a fifty-eight hectare dry tropical forest with nine-kilometers of coasts ideal for diving and snorkeling along one of the best preserved coral reefs in the Gulf of Panama.

Boats may be chartered locally to the fine white sand beaches bordered by crystal clear turquoise waters. Flocks of red breasted frigates circle overhead; iguanas, turtles, and other native wildlife peer out from the rich vegetation, and humpback whales swim offshore.

Another island designated as a wildlife refuge, Isla Canas is famous for the turtles that come to nest each year on its beautiful wide beaches, and it is accessed by boat through the mangrove covered canals.

Fishing: The blue waters of the Pacific off the Azuero Peninsula, Panama's famed "Tuna Coast", offer some of the finest fishing.

The rich tropical aquatic environment is teaming with fish including Dolphin, Yellowfin Tuna, Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Wahoo, Amberjack, Sierra Mackerel, Grouper and Snapper and whales, orcas and porpoises can be spotted on these excursions.

Cultural attractions: Rich in folkloric history, the capital city of Los Santos is Las Tablas, famous for its carnivals and believed to be the birth place of the Pollera, the intricately woven traditional Panamanian dress. Local workshops provide visitors with the opportunity to view this craft first-hand.

There are also museums, national parks, churches and archeological sites to be explored.

Among the many festivals and religious celebrations are: Carnival beginning the fourth day before Ash Wednesday ; National Festival of the Pollera & Festival of the Patron Santa Librada, end of July, and Feria de Azuero, late April-early May.
