Our country estate is a lovely retreat on 5 acres, rural enough to enjoy spacious privacy, but just 6 miles from Hilo. Halekea Onomea is the largest of three cottages on the property. Its open and spacious interior has gorgeous views of tropical gardens rimmed with ocean views. The two upstairs bedrooms sleep six: two in a queen bed; two in a full bed; one in each of two twin sized beds; The bedrooms share a covered lanai with lovely views of the blue sea. The newly renovated bathroom has hand-cut stone tile from Indonesia and a luxury soaking tub/shower. The living room has 20 foot ceilings and a wall of windows. It's a bright and spacious place to curl up and enjoy a book or a movie, even on a rainy day. The fully equipped kitchen is it's own unique space with a breakfast nook and an adjoining formal dining room. The antique dining table expands out for your special gatherings. You can also dine on the covered patio complete with barbecue and outdoor fireplace. The walk down our road to Onomea Bay is one of the lovliest in all of Hawaii.

Our estate home is a grouping of three separate buildings adjoined by covered breezeways, each entirely private from one another. Halekea Onomea is the main house. It is approximately 2200 SF of living space plus a screened lanai, a second story lanai and an open dining patio.

Our home is on 5 acres, 6 miles north of Hilo and is a great 'base' for touring the attractions of the Big Island Volcano National Park, oh, so many waterfalls!, gorgeous Waipio Valley, old Hawaii villages, the international astronomy telescopes atop Mauna Kea, helicopter tours, the famous Hilo Farmers Market, ziplining, birdwatching, hiking, fishing, snorkeling, beach parks... The Big Island is very varied! Or Stay right here, at home in paradise; kick back, make a few Mai Tais and play croquet in the yard beneath enormous Monkeypod trees.
