Description of the Peter Bay vacation villa rental
This is truly a unique home; sitting just steps from a white sand beach of the Caribbean Sea and located in the exclusive gated community of Peter Bay.

Peter Bay, totally surrounded by the National Park on St. John's North Shore, stretches from its remote beach to the top of Peter Peak and is an exceptional development where home sites have recently sold for $5 million and homes are listed for sale up to $30 million.

Whether you're in need of the perfect place to detoxify from life, enjoying your honeymoon or planning a family reunion - perhaps in conjunction with one or two homes in our gated community - Peter Bay Beach House is ideally suited to every need.

During the day, chill out in one of the many hammocks, snorkel the reef at your doorstep or kayak to the world-renowned Trunk Bay just around the corner. In the evening, perhaps, curl up in front of the stone fireplace while inhaling the aromas of delicious foods being cooked, especially for you, by a private chef. The ideas are endless.. You are limited just by your imagination...

The colonnaded main house is separated from the two-story guesthouse by a lap pool amid lush tropical gardens. The master bedroom - which encompasses the entire 2nd floor of the main house - includes a deep bath, a massage room, and an outdoor shower; it also has a balcony complete with chaises and a hammock overlooking Jost Van Dyke and the beautiful Cinnamon Bay. The guesthouse bedrooms also have their own balconies and en-suite bathrooms.

Featuring in an article titled "50 unrivaled private get-a-ways" "ultimate destinations for your wedding", or "25 unsurpassed private beaches and villas" wouldn't seem out of place for this luxurious rental villa. Particularly as she's already been featured in USA Today - as "one of the top 10 places in the world to de-stress" and Peter Bay, as a whole, was in the National Geographic as "a model development within a national park", and most recently has been mentioned in Unique Homes Magazine. Many celebrities have stayed with us at The Beach House, including, but not limited to Frank Darabont, Peyton Manning, Kathy Ireland, Big & Rich, Kid Rock,Jon Bon Jovi, Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kenny Chesney.

Kenny fell in love with Peter Bay so much - he bought a home around the corner. On one of his many visits, while sitting on our old blue chair on the beach - he got inspired and made a hit album.

Area Information
St. John and The United States Virgin Islands have a rich and exciting history that is full of intrigue, adventure, and some of history's most colorful characters.

The first human inhabitants of the Virgin Islands were the Arawak Indians. The Arawaks were descendants of coastal Indians from what is now Venezuela and Guyana, who were forced out of that area by more aggressive tribes. They island hopped up the Antillean chain until they reached the Virgin Islands, sometime around 300 AD. The Arawaks lived peacefully here, fishing and farming, until the fierce and cannibalistic Carib Indians moved into the area about 100 years before the arrival of Columbus.

Two-thirds, nearly 7,000 acres of St John has been designated a National Park. Visitors can take a guided tour of this beautiful and serene island sanctuary with a Park Ranger, which is very easy to arrange. Within our protected paradise are sub-tropical forests, semi-arid scrublands, and swamps along the coastal areas. Some 800 species of plants inhabit these varied climates, including one native palm tree - the Teyer palm, along with bay rum trees and tropical orchids. More than 50 species of tropical birds breed on St. John, including the Bananaquit and three species of Caribbean hummingbirds. Other migrant species spend the winter in the park's dense forests.

St John Historical Society works hard to promote an appreciation and deeper understanding of the history and cultural heritage of our island of St. John. Visit their site before you leave home, to get more from your trip to our Island.

Trunk Bay is one of St. John's most photographed beaches and is a very popular snorkeling spot, as it hosts an underwater snorkle trail. It is also a very popular venue for outdoor weddings, which generally take place close to sunset. It is the next bay west of Peter Bayand on a calm day, you could swim or take one of our kayaks to the beach. A common sight here is the brown pelican, which has been listed on the endangered species list in many countries throughout the world.

ChildrenAside from swimming, snorkling and playing in the sand, there is a lot of things to do for children.. Visit the Park's Visitor Center in Cruz Bay and ask a Ranger at the desk how you can become a Junior Ranger. After completing the requirements, you'll be awarded the Junior Ranger program certificate and badge. What a fabulous accomplishment! Try the on-line snorkel trip to learn about the local fish and reef before your vacation, to get a huge head start.

For lots of other interesting things to do on St John, go to to West Indies On Line or St John USVI which gives a very full overview of St John, including restuaruants, shopping, car rentals & sites to see.
