“Beautiful, quiet, and didn't break the budget.”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2019

We booked late and from previous experience were a little apprehensive that the Chalet would actually be as nice as advertised. Not only did it live up to it's photos, it exceeded our expectations. The cleaning staff did an amazing job, the place was immaculate. Plenty of parking (you can actually part up to four vehicles), we all loved the wide front porch (sat out there every morning and evening), and there was plenty of room for our party of four adults and two very active children to spread out inside. My husband even made the comment that it would be a perfect retirement home for us! Our normal areas of complaint with rentals and condos, hot water and air conditioning, passed with flying colors. Six (6) showers within a 90 minute period while the dishwasher ran - hot water all the way. With AC units for both the upper and lower floors, staying cool on a hot, sticky holiday weekend was no problem. The Little Pigeon River was right across the street from us. The soothing sounds of the water running along was a great backdrop for the time spent in the porch swing and the kids got a kick out of all the water fowl that they saw, including some herons. The street was quiet even with being just a block off the main road through town and it was an easy walk to places to eat and things to do for the kids. We have a couple of suggestions, though. Take some extra bed pillows. When we were there, there was one set per bedroom, not enough for side sleepers or to prop up to watch TV. While there were plenty of decorative pillows, the textures and sizes weren't what we needed for those situations. And, if you have more than four in your party, throw in some camp chairs, there's only a two-person (or three-kid) swing and two rocking chairs on the front porch and on the small patio off the master bedroom, there's just a grill, no seating. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
