About the area

The area around the cabin offers great variety for individuals and families to enjoy. Hiking in our area is bountiful, trail heads galore within 30 minutes drive- from short hikes with little kids to long day hikes, the options are many! The Cove Resort at Fish Lake is 15 minutes from the cabin and is an alpine lake stocked with trout. Kids and adults alike can enjoy fishing from the dock, or rent a boat to to float the lake and fish. There is a Latte stand and a small store for purchasing bait, snacks and renting boats. A favorite summertime outing! Also within easy driving distance is beautiful Lake Wenatchee State Park were one can swim, wind surf, SUP or enjoy boating, there is also an 18 hole golf course called Kahler Glen; horseback rides in summer and cross country skiing in winter. A short and pretty 25 minute drive from the cabin will bring you to the "Bavarian Village" of Leavenworth. Once a dying logging town Leavenworth transformed itself into a Bavarian village in the 1960's. It is as authentic and delightful as found in the Alps themselves. Here you can enjoy the unique shops; many featuring local crafts or European imports. You can enjoy great German cuisine along with American and Continental specialties, wine and sprits tasting rooms abound as well. Leavenworth offers great family fun with a family fun center, miniature golf, as well as a community swimming pool and skate board center. If you enjoy the arts then Leavenworth has much to offer, including the famous Leavenworth Summer Theater, Art in The Park, and classic music at the famous Icicle Creek Music Center. In Winter there is a cross country ski course located in Plain, 8 minutes from the cabin. Bring your own gear or rent at Plain Hardware where you also purchase your ticket. Plain Hardware is a destination even if not skiing, grab a Latte at their coffee counter and browse the housewares, jewelry and clothing, don't let the name "hardware" lead you to believe its just lumber and paint-- this store is so much more! Lastly there are many festivals and special events in Leavenworth throughout the year, the cabin is accessable and lovely at all seasons! Wenatchee River is just outside the back door and acres of woods to explore. Many hikes and activities are within 15-30 minutes drive from the cabin. The Old Mill Cafe is located in Plain (8 minutes drive). Mountain Springs Lodge is located in Plain (8 minutes drive). Headwaters Pub and Pizza is located near Lake Wenatchee (12 minutes away) 59'er Diner on Highway 2 (15 minutes away) Many Many restaurants in Leavenworth (25 minutes away)

Getting around

Your own car is best to get to the Nest; however there are busses that go to Leavenworth and there is also train service that goes into Leavenworth, and there are shuttle and taxi services in town that can take you the 25 minutes to the cabin. Most of our guests take their own vehicle or a rental vehicle to travel to the cabin.

“Winter Wonderland”

Osprey Nest is a lovely, cozy cabin. Our family enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was very quiet and peaceful. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family.

“Cute and cozy little cabin!”

Reviewed 14 Dec 2016

This was an adorable little cabin with a breath taking view of the river! The cabin was very clean and well taken care of. It slept our family of four very comfortably! The only issue we had (which was a pretty big one for us) was no internet or cable tv for our three day/two night stay. This made it very difficult for my husband to work in the evenings and the kids didn't have tv to watch and iPads to play while at the cabin. We had to make several trips into town just for my husband to get internet to send work emails from the car. Hopefully that isn't as big of an issue for others when you stay.

Owner's reply: I SO wish you would have called me! I was at the cabin Tuesday to do a check following your stay, noticed the internet issue, called Local Tel and they talked me through re-setting the power supply box on the wall and restoring internet in about 5 minutes. I am ALWAYS happy to help if there is an issue during a stay!

Celebrated my wife's 50th birthday with family and friends (8) plus our dog. Great location, secluded and right on the river. close to lake Wenatchee and Leavenworth. Had an awesome time. Had rain one day out of three, but we had a nice fire outside and it reminded All of us of camping on the Kenai river in Alaska during the summer ☺☺

“Perfectly Peaceful”

I cannot say enough how wonderful our stay at the Osprey Nest was. The accommodations were perfect, the cabin was stocked with all the little necessities you don't feel like bringing or buying. You fall asleep to the sound of the river & wake up to see the river from any room in the house. All I can really say is my husband is ready to book the cabin again next year!

Owner's reply: Hi Kathleen~ So glad to hear that our efforts to provide the "home away from home" details is successful! Thank you for your care with the Nest, we certainly hope you will return again in the future. Sincerely, Shannon

“Weekend in the Nest”

Reviewed 12 Nov 2014

I had a wonderful 30th birthday weekend in the Osprey nest! My boyfriend and I went down Friday evening and had a quiet evening in. Then on Saturday, we had a group of friends join us for a dinner party. The cabin is located in an absolutely beautiful area outside of Plain, WA, where there are rolling fields, changing colors, and wineries galore. The cabin is extremely well-cared for, open, with lots of natural light. The pictures represent it well. We felt the price was a bargain, considering that the cleaning fee is included (lots of cabins list this as an extra expense.) The management company was extremely responsive and easy to work with. It was a joy to cook a big meal in the well-appointed kitchen and then relax with friends around the wood table. We would definitely stay here again. Recommended either for a quiet romantic weekend for a couple, or for a small group of friends.

“Wonder-full”

A wonderful log cabin in the trees and on the river, very private and perfectly set up...what more could one want, except very good travel directions, easy written out instructions re how to operate there, and we lucked out with perfect weather. Our part was to have a great time and we did. Thank you.

“Fantastic place to vacation”

This cabin is everything it promises to be. It is cozy, clean, right on the river--really--and very well furnished and stocked. We loved our time there and fully intend to go back. It is quiet, nature abounds, and one can really rest and enjoy it. If resting and reading or whatever gets tiresome it is not far to drive to the quaint town of Plain or on in to Leavenworth where all kinds of tourist activities abound. The pictures of our trip are now my computer screen saver, and I love reliving the time away!

“Great! Beware of the portable ladder type stairs!”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2013

Nice, quite, and secluded forest river side cabin. It had everything we needed. The only problem is, the only sleeping quarters are upstairs. Just be sure your not to heavy, and that you can traverse stairs easily. Its like climbing up a foldable ladder that is used to get you into an attic.

Owner's reply: Hi Steven~ Thank you for your feedback, this charming A frame cabin does have narrow stairs, they are described as "Ladder Stairs" in our description as we want to be clear to possible renters that this should be considered. Glad you enjoyed your stay!!
