Description from owner

This beautiful home is located 50 meters from the beach. The home was planned for maximum privacy with a wonderful open living area and kitchen upstairs. Through beautiful wood double doors is a spacious dressing area, walk-in shower, tiled sink. The huge master bedroom with king-size bed has three enormous screened windows with views of the trees and the ocean. The lower level is a roomy studio apartment with one queen bed, a kitchen and large bathroom.

Every window is screened for insects, but still allows the ocean breezes to keep the house comfortable. Beautiful woodwork and tile make this the perfect tropical home. Fantastic location for day trips to Corcovado Park on the Osa Pensinsula, river kayak trips, or simply relaxing in a hammock with a book. Swimming is incredible. Outside this home are waves large enough to surf or boogie board. Walk a 1/4 mile up the beach and the Osa Peninsula provides protection from the Pacific swells so that the waves are gentle and easy to manage.

The rates for the house are: $750/week, $2,500 month. Inquire about off-season rates (between May and November).

Beds: 1 King Bed, 1 Queen Bed, 1 Twin Bed

About the area

Zancudo is a small Costa Rican village spread along a 6 mile stretch of pristine beach on one side and a huge river on the other. This provides tourists with a wide range of activities from surfing, kayaking, fishing and more. The wildlife is always great entertainment with monkeys, sloth, many different birds and butterflies. Hang one of the hammocks between the coconut trees at the edge of the beach and watch the sunset each evening or stroll the deserted beach. It's easy to see why visitors call this paradise.

“Playa Zancudo”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2014

The cabina was just as pictured, my husband and I spent 4 nights and had a very relaxed and enjoyable stay. The beach is beautiful, we would take long walks every morning, swim and play in the waves a couple of times each day and watch the beautiful sunsets every evening. Sue our host was very sweet and helpful, if we needed anything she came through with it. We met some of her neighbors and friends, all wonderful people. We would certainly stay at this property again. Good value for the money.

“Just finished booking our trip”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2014

We just finished booking our trip with the Susan. The comunication and help was way above our expectations. She answered all questions fully and with out delays, even giving pointers on booking information and contacts for rental cars and hotels to stay at in other locations. We can only hope that the rest of the vacation goes as well as this booking. We will let you all know how the stay was some time in June.

“Great!”

Just back from a wonderful stay at the Stanford House. Great location. Very private. Thank you to Susan for making sure our stay was enjoyable.

Owner's reply: thanks for coming! It is a great location on the beach, handy to restaurants, yet lots of privacy.

“Very enjoyable”

Reviewed 1 Mar 2012

Playa Zancudo beach was beautiful, we were often the only people of the beach! Water was warm and clean, waves were very enjoyable for boogie boarding! The house was everything we expected. Quite luxurious! It would be a benefit to rent a car, as you are quite isolated. We enjoyed our privacy. We felt that it would have been nice to have a little followup with the manager, to see how we doing and too give us more information about how some things worked...such as getting fresh vegetables. We loved it there...hated to leave!

Owner's reply: This house now has a new manager, ME ! Susan, from Los Cocos. I do follow up.... as I know how the details of knowing how to be comfortable in a new environment are important. We have a fruit and veggie truck that comes in twice a week, and will stop right at your house.

Xmas 2006

Dear Pat and Michael

We loved spending Xmas at you house in paradise. We loved hours spent reading or daydreaming in the hammock, relaxing on the beach, riding the waves, side trips to the wild life sanctuary, kayaking under over hanging trees, and we Especially loved riding your bikes in the rain.

Thanks for making it available to us, we hope to return again someday.

It has been great to be so comfortable in such a primitive environment. Of course the views from the deck are indescribable, but from inside, away from the bugs, the scenes are like beautiful pictures framed in the native woodwork that is everywhere.

The spaciousness of the house matches that of the jungle and the Pacific Ocean.

Muchas gracias.

We loved our stay in your new home! It is beautiful and comfortable. We loved sitting on the deck, biking, swimming, surfing, swinging in the hammock, walking on the vast, empty beach.

The windows are great to feel the breeze, listen to the surf and the rain, and that shower is amazing, as are all the tiles in the house.

It was wonderful to relax here and lose track of time. Thanks so much.
PS, the woodwork is beautiful.
