Description of the Plymouth vacation home rental
Location: Between Killington and Okemo, Vermont, USA. (Boston 3 hours, NYC 5 hours, Woodstock 25 mins, Farm & Wilderness camps closeby)
Accomodations: Contemporary Home, 2 Beds, 3 Baths Den/Office, Sleeps 6

A light filled mountain retreat overlooking pond on 22 acres. Very comfortable for 2 couples or a family, can accommodate more. Located in historic Plymouth, birthplace and resting place of President Calvin Coolidge.

Enjoy skiing/sledding in Winter, listening to peepers in Spring, hiking in Summer, beautiful colors in Fall. Gather round the fire pit at night and watch the stars come out or stay in by the fireplace: your choice.

In Winter Plymouth is a great ski location - minutes from Okemo and Killington. It's 3.5 hour drive from CT, 3 hours from Boston making it perfect for a weekend skiing. You can choose to ski at Killington, the Beast of the East, or the more family friendly Okemo resort. It's a 20 minute drive to Killington Skyeship or Okemo Jackson Gore. Snowmobiling and VAST trails are on the doorstep. The house sits on a great hill for tobogganing.

We love listening to the peepers in the Spring. In Summer it is a great escape with the charming town of Woodstock just 25 minutes away and 10 minutes to Farm & Wilderness.

In Summer hunt for berries on the property: blackberry, wild strawberry and mountain blueberry. Explore Plymouth and get a glimpse of Vermont as it used to be in Coolidge's time. Pan for gold down the hill at Plymouth Five Corners, once the site of a thriving town during the gold rush but now taken back by nature.

Great food and restaurants are close at hand: local organic produce most of the year, artisanal cheeses, local beers...even local wine.

The house is well maintained, with quality furniture, WIFI, and a spectacular open plan living/kitchen/dining area on the second floor. There is a central wood burning fireplace and lots of windows with views over the mountains and into the woods. Glass doors lead onto the deck and an outdoor barbecue. The deck is a seating/dining area in the summer months. On the same level there is a separate second lounge/ den/ office area with large windows and views and an adjacent shower room. This room has a queen sofa bed that converts to queen bed and two of the living room sofas convert to single beds.

The two bedrooms are on the first floor. The master bedroom with queen bed has a bathroom en suite. The second bedroom with queen bed has a bathroom a few feet down the hall. The laundry room is on this level.

The attached garage is a real plus in Winter. No clearing snow off the car in the morning, drive straight in walk into the house in the evening. NB YOU NEED 4 WHEEL DRIVE TO ACCESS THE PROPERTY IN THE WINTER. The driveway and the road to the house are steep. The road and driveway are plowed but especially during a storm you will need 4 wheel drive.

The house is supplied with organic linens for the beds and bathroom, paper products, cleaning supplies, and toiletries.

A mile off the beaten track and set in 22 acres of yard and forest this modern contemporary home allows comfortable, easy living for a family or group in a light filled space. We don't allow pets in this house.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes this house special in the Winter - visitors comments?
A: We returned to this wonderful house in the hills for a weekend’s skiing, and once again were really impressed by the cleanliness of the house and attention to detail shown by the owners. The small written instructions around the house cater for every eventuality, including how to light the log fire. There were holiday lights, garlands and wreaths scattered around and we felt really cozy as we sat watching Holiday Inn on the big TV screen.
We tried a local restaurant (The Worthy Inn) in Woodstock, as recommended, and the food and beers were excellent. Well worth a visit, and Woodstock town looked beautiful in the snow.
Once again, we were lucky to have fantastic skiing conditions – two feet of powder snow twenty minutes away at Killington - and it was a pleasure to come back to such a warm and inviting home at the end of each day, thank you.
Q: What is the house like in the Summer - visitors comments?
A: We stayed two weeks in this lovely house. Up in the woods above Plymouth on a dirt road, the house is surrounded by trees, with a meadow in front and a cleared area off the back of the house. The interior of the house is wonderful - very open and light-filled, well-designed...probably the nicest interior of any house we've rented. A little porch off the back is great for grilling, soaking up the sun, and eating or reading. The lower level bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and very comfortable. The interior details are really tasteful...definitely NOT the typical ski chalet/condo rental. Also the house was well-stocked with various supplies, and very clean. There's a two car garage. An upper area in the back behind the house has a little outdoor fireplace and chairs; we spent many evenings roasting marshmallows, drinking wine, watching the sky turn dark while the fire quietly burned. While there are others who live on the road, you never hear nor see anyone, so it's extremely private. This is the first house we've rented in Vermont where at the end of our stay we said to each other, "we definitely want to come back." We highly recommend it.
Q: What is the house like in the Fall - visitors comments?
A: First visit to see the fall
My friend and I spent 3weeks exploring New England staying in a variety of accommodation. Plymouth house was the best. This light and spacious house, set in its own extensive grounds, was modern and very comfortable. The fixtures and fittings are of a very good quality with a good mix of modern and solid wood furnishings. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, one ensuite and one with adjoining bathroom both kitted out with good quality towels and toiletries. The woods surrounding the house gave us our own private fall spectacular. The house and grounds are so enjoyable that we spent one day "at home" relaxing, exploring and star gazing at night. I would definitely stay in this property again.
