Description of the Poland vacation cottage rental
The feature we all look for foremost is proximity to the water and accessibility. This home has it all. It faces south-east and is drenched in sunlight from the moment the sunrises to mid/late afternoon. There are beautiful, unobstructed views of the lake, nearly level lot- no steep steps or high embankments. There is a gradual grade to your own private 100ft sandy beach. Enjoy the new 56ft dock where you will find a 12ft aluminum boat complete with electric trolling motor, great for fishing or just checking the lake out. Of course for those inclined there are oars for the exercise minded. You will also find 2 kayaks, an Old Town canoe, and a pedal boat with a canopy to cruise around and enjoy the sun and water. I do supply a limited amount of life vests for children and adults. They are required in the state of Maine. When you are done playing in the water, have lunch or refreshing beverage at the outdoor bar on the patio. Or just take a snooze in the hammock. We have outdoor games such as Bocce, bean toss or maybe a game of horseshoes (heard some of the neighbors are ringers). We abut a seasonal camp ground. The same people are there all season long and are wonderful and if need be helpful neighbors. This is not an isolated location as there are neighbors in fairly close proximity as with many waterfront communities, but is an excellent waterfront location. There are safe dirt roads for the kids to ride bikes and several hundred feet away is the camp general store and snack bar. Convenient if you forgot an item or two or just go down to get an ice cream or snack.

When you step inside this cottage everywhere you look will remind you that you are in Maine. From lighthouses to Loons, bears and moose there is no doubt where you are. Fishing décor is present throughout the house as it is a very popular past time on Tripp Pond all year round. For those interested in fishing the lake is very shallow and is a warm water lake. It is phenomenal for Bass fishing. The kitchen is a large open concept area with plenty of storage and work area. The kitchen is very well appointed with utensils, dishware, pots and pans, and newer small appliances. The oven is gas and the refrigerator is newer and is one of 2. (the other is in the utility building just outside the house). A water dispenser is also supplied for your cooking and drinking needs. The house water is drawn from the lake and is not meant for consumption. The Kitchen extends to the dining area near the large windows overlooking the lake. The dining table is custom made pine post furniture that is present throughout the cottage. The living area is cozy, has a tongue and groove pine ceiling and a sliding glass door to the patio area. Large windows also overlook the lake. The bathroom is on the first floor (shower/ no tub). There is also a second half bath in the outdoor utility building, great for your needs when on the beach or for emergencies. There is a bedroom on the first floor. It has bunk beds with a twin upper and a full size lower bunk. There is also a roll-away bed in this room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a beautiful rustic pine post full size canopy bed. Large windows afford you a great view of the lake and the sunrises. The second bedroom has a rustic pine post full size four post bed. It offers the same great views of the first bedroom.

If the weather is less than ideal we have several board and card games. You will also find a DVD player and a VCR. We do have a small library of DVD and VHS movies, but feel free to bring your own.

Area Info
There is so much to explore in this area of Maine if you should choose to get out of the hammock or put down the fishing rod. There are 2 golf courses right in Poland, the Poland Springs Resort and the Summit Golf course. The little ones will love Harvest Hill Farms in Poland, with their farm animals and different themes. The Maine Wildlife Park in Gray could also be a good take as is the Shaker Village in Poland. For family fun try the Oxford Plains Raceway on Rt.26. They have everything from auto racing to monster truck competitions to demolition derbies. For grownup fun try the Oxford Casino also on Rt.26. Go for a seaplane ride in Naples. Bridgeton has a very unique movie theater and bar. Windham and Oxford also have movie theaters. Sea coast Fun park on Rt.302 in Windham will give you a thrill. If you love to shop then Freeport (45mins.) home of LL Bean is a must. There are plenty of Antique and thrift stores to keep you busy. As you can see there is something for everyone, all you have to do is look.

Everything you need for a great vacation

September 6, 2014

What a great house for a vacation! We went with three generations of our family and everybody had a good time. Adults had the boats, went fishing, and hung out playing numerous board games. The little kids played in the lake with many water toys that were provided and watched TV when it was time to dry out. The kitchen was very well supplied with spices and just about anything you needed to cook with. The furniture was comfortable as were the beds. I expected that we would have to go to the store to stock up on things but everything was provided for us. I was most pleasently surprised. The lake is shallow so it was very safe for the kids. The dock was great for fishing. We sat on the dock and watched the bald eagles swoop down to the lake and snatched a fish. If you want a great Maine vacation, this is the place.

Owner's reply:

It is fun to watch life on the lake, even better when you are part of it. So glad you enjoyed your stay.
