PONTE VEDRA BEACH VACATION HOME RENTAL DESCRIPTION


The property is in south Ponte Vedra Beach. Between AIA and the ocean. It is on a dune and it is the closest to the Ocean, Due to Department of Natural Resource regulations DNR, you cannot build that close to the Ocean. We were grandfathered. To the east you have the Atlantic and an unobstructed view of the sunrise, to the west you have Guana Park a federal natural preserve with the inter-coastal waterway. Unobstructed view of the sunset over the park. This is a house that is familiar with the beach and is about 10-15 miles from Jax Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach, hence 15 miles from the delta of the St Johns River.

Therefore the water in front of this property is always blue, aqua, azul and pristine. The lots of land on each side of this property are empty and they will be empty for the foreseeable future. The empty lots give additional dramatic privacy and isolation. The beach is private up to the water line, people have right of passage, but cannot put their towels in front of your home. There are two units. Upstairs with two bedroom, bathroom and large dining room and living room with kitchen. The same downstairs. You can rent both units (two families of friends). Or just rent one floor. Upstairs has mirrors everywhere and beautiful murals, All appliances, ironware (forks, knifes etc, are provided) Refrigerator, stove and oven, microwave,dishwasher,clothing washer and dryer on the premises. Gas barbecue grill/ Plenty of linen and towels on both floors, 4 flat screen TV, cd stereo, VHS, cable, wifi are provided, Netflix, a DVD Library, books library, coffee mugs and plenty of child safe glasses and regular glasses. The double Garage is a large work out area at this time, but in the near future will be divided in work out area and two additional bedrooms and a third bathroom, a covered portico will be added to protect your cars from the sun. A mural of a flying unicorn and palm trees on the front of the house. A two mile stretch of the sea in front of the property is called "chum bowl", because commercial fishermen clean their catch in this area,(ten miles offshore, you don;t sea or smell the chum) hence surf fishing is abundant and dolphins are sighted almost daily. There are two outside showers The property is 15 minutes from ST Augustine, the oldest municipality in the continental USA. The gate to Guana park is 1/2 mile away; Marine land, Alligator Farm are 20 minutes away, Orlando amusement parks are two hours away, golf greens are also 15 minutes away at Sawgrass. There is a convenience store and gas station half a mile away, and plenty of stores for shopping and groceries 20 minutes away.
Mayo clinic is 25 minutes away and Jacksonville Florida is 40 minutes away. You deal directly with the owner, and he is always willing to deal with you. No rude middleman. Your total satisfaction is his main concern. Lots of specials and freebies. 50% discount at the Day SPA, Unisex hair salon and

The house is older but well maintained. The house is on the ocean with a great beach for shelling, swimming and tanning.

We stayed during Christmas time at this paradise and so far, it has been the BEST vacation that we spent with our friends. We rented the whole place and enjoyed every moment of it. The location is just unbelievable, the view is astonishing, and the owner is the nicest guy ever. He was so caring and kind. He made sure that we have everything we need and everything was exactly the way it was explained to us. We were very happy with the price and in general with everything. Access to a wonderful private beach, BBQ, plenty of space, amazing balcony, a quiet place to rest! I definitely recommend this place with no reservation!

Me family and I enjoyed ourselves a lot on our thanksgiving vaca. This house has such beautiful views and its location is awesome. It's an old style Beach-house with a few repairs and updates needed but honestly overall it's a great home to rent. The owner is such a caring and honest guy. Always letting us know what to expect and making sure we were ok. This is a home that my family and I would stay at again.

The house is spectacular. The beach is literally your backyard, and you are destined to leave with nothing other than lasting memories of an amazing experience!! The owner is a very down to earth individual that will make your experience very pleasant. I Wil never forget my getaway at the beach I spent with my family from overseas, and neither will they. I highly recommend this property. We saw Dolphins daily, and had the best of the best seashells wash up on shore every single day! Love this property with a passion!

The beach house was perfect, we really enjoyed ourselves, and hated to leave but must return back to work. If you are looking for a beach house that allows one to play in sand / beach and run in and out of the house without worrying about get the house a mess.... This is your beach house. There are water hose and showers on deck to clean off. The view is amazing!! The beach house is adorable and felt like it was my own home. I was surprised on how many choices of comfortable seating was available and TV with all channels. The owner is easy to communicate with, email, phone, text. The owner will provide you with good useful information surrounding the beach house.

Thank you very much for your review. I still feel that we need to do more work to make the property a one of a kind retreat. We plan to add bigger flat screen TVs, change the perimeter wood work of the sun deck, the table and chairs on the sundeck, for dinner while enjoying the ocean breeze, the parking area and a few other things. The room under the stairs we will transform into a fishing center, with fishing poles and related bait and tackle, for surf fishing and inter coastal fishing.

Our stay here was an excellent experience we will not soon forget! The property had all we needed to enjoy the entire area fully. Accessible location, lots of privacy, full kitchen with all the amenities, clean and comfortable rooms, all on the ocean! The owner, who could not have been kinder, accommodated our requests for assistance in finding that which we could not find on our own. He had so much patience with us as we listened to understand his explanations through his accent. From finding good gluten free dining to discovering the local hot spots, he was spot on! We cannot wait until we can visit again!

My friends and I rented this house for a weekend and we loved every bit of it! The first night we saw dolphins from the deck. There was plenty of room and towels. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and pans so we were able to cook most of the trip. The host was very kind and was available if anything happened. He recommended great places to eat and for shopping. You can't get any closer to the beach than this!!

Q: Surf fishing is abundant year round, Canoeing in the intercoastal waterway?
A: The property is on a two mile stretch of beach called "chumbowl". Commercial fisherman clean their catch of the day about two or three miles offshore , and throw what they don't use into the ocean; hence this is a feeding area for fish. Surf fishing is abundant and literally amazing. You can catch something with each cast.. Dolphins are seeing almost every day.
Q: Is there any foul smell from the commercial fishboats?
A: Absolutely none. They are 4 to 6 miles away if not more. If you look with binoculars, you will see pelicans and seagulls flying around the commercial fishing boats. It is a feeding frenzy above and under the water. The fish parts that are thrown overboard are eaten instantly. Nothing washes to shore. The beauty of this activity is that schools of fishes have been trained to come feed here over the years. Hence you will see dolphins almost everyday that the water is not choppy.
Q: What color is the water? In Jacksonville beach is always brown.
A: Our beach house is about twenty miles from the Delta of the St Johns River. The river water is brownish because it contains tannin acid. Once the delta opens into the Atlantic, the river water goes north and south along the beach. This is why the water in Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach and Neptune beach are always brown. We are too far south. The water is green gray on foggy or cloudy days. However, when the sky is clear, and there are no clouds the water color goes from light green to aqua to turquoise, to deep blue. It also has to do with the time of day and the refraction angle of the sun rays
Q: Is the house well landscaped?
A: Unfortunately you have to be very careful with "messing" with the natural flora of the beach dunes. The natural flora prevents erosion of our beaches. It is illegal to pick sea otes and other plants on the beach. You can be fined up to $ 500. We try to contain the growth from interfering with the activities of our guests, we encourage everybody to respect and protect our beaches and be part of the solution in the beach erosion problem. We also encourage our guests to be sensitive to recycling and place glass, plastic, paper and common trash in separate bags. Our cleaning crews go around the property to look for and pick up bottles and cans of beers. But they are not as zealous as the owners and sometimes they may miss a bottle here or a can there. This simple finding can be very upsetting to the next guests.
Don't be a litter bug. We discourage smoking at all times, but if you have to do it, you must do it outside of the units. Please use an ashtray or a can of soda. There is nothing more unsightly then a cigarette filter put out on a bottle cap.

Q: How is privacy?
A: You will not find another beach house that offers the privacy of Casa Pegasus. To the south and to the north you have two empty lots per side. To the East the Atlantic, To the West Guana Park National Park. This gives great privacy. Unobstructed view of the sunrise and the sunset.. The downside is that the empty lots have thick vegetation and their were a habitat before we encroached on their territory. It is a habitat for raccoons, rats, mice, possums, birds, perhaps some grass snakes. (did you see the movie the "Hedge"? ) look at it that way. It is a constant battle. Warn your children to stay away from the empty lots, and if they see green pellets not to pick them up. It may be rat poison.
It is a constant battle but so far we have the upper hand. You can help us a lot by keeping the external doors closed, especially in the evening. We are looking into electronic, ultrasound barriers. Have no fear, you will not run into Mickey and Minnie
We have placed two white fences one per side. Next we plan to dig a foot deep trench and fill it with broken glass anddirt and cement above. This will keep them from digging under the fence
Q: We see two kitchens in some of the emailed pictures, How is that?
A: The House is actually two units with separate and independent entrances. One on the first floor unit A and one on the second floor , unit B. Both have two bedrooms, a bathroom a kitchen a living room and a dining room.
White towels for upstairs and white towels with orange strips downstairs.
First floor A is more friendly for families with small and over 3 or 4 children. There is a master bedroom and a second room with two bunk beds, a living room with a sectional that contains a full bed.
Upstairs, unit B has a master bedroom, and a second room with a trundle bed. We plan to add a sofa bed in the large dining area. Upstairs, unit B is more appropriate for a couple alone or one or two adolescent children.
Both Units have an external independent door and an internal door into the common garage. Common refrigerator to keep your bait and cold water.

This give us the flexibility of renting two rooms or four room, with a financial advantage for our guests. We have noted that the best situation for everybody is when two families of friend vacation together. Each will have its own unit with its own refrigerator and kitchen. Together but apart.

We have also noted that when only one unit is rented almost invariably nobody rents the second unit. This does not work well for us but it is great for our guests.
