Description of the Port Aransas vacation guesthouse rental
This artsy, old fashioned guesthouse is a peaceful sanctuary for travelers. More spacious and charming than a motel room, it's affordable, quiet, and clean...just right for relaxing on island time. It seems like kindred spirits discover us and everything works out fine.

The Bed & Bath is located in "OLD TOWN" Port Aransas amid beach bungalows and shady palms, one block from main street. Furnishings are a blend of antique and modern styles with ceiling fans and hardwood floors throughout. Your private entrance is off a breezy front porch furnished with table, chairs and hammock. The living room has upholstered loveseat and arm chairs, a small library, fireplace, small dining table and chairs, and eclectic bric-a-brac. PLEASE NOTE: There's no kitchen, however we provide a coffee pot, microwave, medium sized fridge, bowls, mugs, flatware, plates and paper towels for guests who bring their own groceries. If you're looking for a place with a full kitchen we also rent "BEACH LOVER'S CONDO," a one bedroom condo near the beach on South 11th Street (also listed with vacationhomerentals).

Creative types, world travelers, and just regular folks will enjoy the harmonious atmosphere of Old Town Bed & Bath. It's a great get-a-way from life in the fast lane...but it's by no means a rowdy beach party house. Make it your home away from home when the gulf shore is calling.

Prices listed are for rental of ONE bedroom. Second bedroom can be rented for an additional charge of $25 per night (if you're bringing family or friends and need more space).

Well mannered DOGS are welcome. A non refundable fee of $25 - $35 (depending on size/breed) is required (per pet). Crates preferred if dogs are to be left alone.

Feel free to smoke on front porch where chairs, table & ashtray are provided.

Worst Experience Ever!

October 14, 2014

This place has no sign, had to call Carol to get description of the building, after driving down the street 3 times, which was extremely frustrating after driving 3 hours with 3 fur babies, 1 which is diabetic and requires numerous potty breaks. After finally locating the place, we were approached by Carol at our vehicle, who had our $200 deposit in hand, which she had for over 2 weeks, as I asked her where we should park she hesitated and responded, after judging my bearded outspoken husband and said something to the affect, I am not sure if I am comfortable with, and my husband asked is there a problem, she did not say anything and then he stated if so give us our deposit back, he asked again, is there a problem, she said to me referring to my husband, that right there...we took our deposit back and drove away....the place is a dump and Carol is rude and inconsiderate. I would never ever recommend this place, not sure if it is even legal to be rented out.

Nice and quiet

October 12, 2014

This B & B is a home separated by a partition. The rented area has a living room, fireplace, library, large bathroom, and 2 bedrooms. Carol has added a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and various silverware. It is clean and very charming! There is a lot of history with this place and you can feel it while inside. Beds are okay comfortable. I gave this 4 stars because there was no tv or wifi, which at least one of them would have been nice after a long day at the beach. There were TONS of mosquitos in the area and an abundance of stickers in the front yard. All in all, I would stay here again if I didn't have to bring my dogs (stickers) and tv or wifi was available.

Quiet, Clean, and Fantastic

August 22, 2014

Off the main drag and very quiet. We stayed a week and it is a very busy town on the weekend, but the place makes you forget about the hectic night life. Easy access to the beach and everywhere else. Great place to stay. Most definitely will stay here again in the future. The biggest plus was we could have our two large dogs with us. Thank you Carol and Kandice.

Nice little cottage. Clean and well decorated. Appliances all worked well, and the management was attentive. We liked the central location, and the birds were amazing! Too many varieties to identify. I would definitely recommend it.

Wonderfulplace to sray

February 20, 2014

Caro was the perfect host she was never there unless we needed a question answered then she miraculously showed up. This B& B is very close to the shops and just down the street from an IGA market and restaurants. We took our Siberian husky with us and she provided a pooper scooper for us to clean up after the dog. Since we ate out every meal we didn't mind the lack of a formal kitchen. I would recommend this B&B to anyone.

Mother/Daughter Retreat

February 17, 2014

My daughter and I have stayed at Old Town Bed and Bath on two different occasions. Unfortunately, it was already booked on the weekend in February that we wanted. However, we do love staying there with our dog, Charlie, and we will be calling for reservations again;. Carole has made us feel very welcome, and the bed and bath are excellent. I would highly recommend it to anyone desiring a clean and comfortable place to stay in Port Aransas. Shirley J Jones

Old Town Bed and Bath

August 3, 2013

for the most part it was very pleasant . It was clean and quiet. But, the grass was quite long and the mosquitoes were plentiful ! For a beach cottage, the walls were a bit drab and dark colored. Other than that , it was quite nice.

Enjoyed our stay at Bed & Bath

July 1, 2013

The place was IMMACULATE. It was very comfortable too. I didn't miss a kitchen at all, since I don't cook on my vacation. The little fridge was all that we needed. The place is so clean and pretty. We enjoyed the outside patio and table. The dogs were perfectly happy.

June 18, 2013

My husband and I were greeted by Carol on arrival; she is a warm and friendly person who gave us a quick tour, offered suggestions (we asked) for food and fun, and then took care of our needs as unobtrusively as possible during our stay. The cottage was neat, clean, and tastefully decorated. There was a wide variety of books and games available, but no television for tuning out, although there was a tiny set in the bedroom for viewing DVDs. We enjoyed our time staying at the Port Aransas Bed & Bath, due to its proximity to the Gulf and village.

She Cancelled 2 Days Before Our Trip

August 8, 2012

Very dissatisfied. She advertised as pet friendly, was aware of the type and size of our dogs, and waited until 2 days before we were going to leave to change her mind. Try to find pet friendly lodging for the weekend with 2 days notice. Said we were welcome to still come if we don't bring the dogs. We will never do business with this woman again. This is no way to conduct a business.

Very simple and nice guesthouse located in a quite neighborhood. Host is on site and was available for all of our needs. Best place for out 2 pets. Thank you for being pet friendly. Although situated in the neighborhood, all of the shops and restaurants were in walking distance. Very home like atmosphere rather than the hotel atmosphere. Very clean house. Thanks for letting us stay.

Bed and Bath

October 22, 2011

Carol is definitely a gem and she loves animals. The cottage is part of a house that has been partitioned by a plywood barrier with space above and below the piece of plywood that opens into the living room. The air conditioning was set very high but by request Carol lowered the thermostat. The back yard is off limits but there is a nice sitting area by the front door. There are no screens on the windows or doors and the bathroom faucet is very low into the sink. There are no cooking areas but there is a coffee pot and and a small refrigerator. The B&B is within walking distance to the shops and restaurants and on a fairly quiet street. The neighbors keep many rescue dogs who bark late into the night and eraly in the morning even though Carol tried to reason with the owners.

Cozy Cottage

September 13, 2011

Privately owned cottage feel in cozy home that allows dogs at a very affordable rate. Wood floors and tile in bathroom so bring blanket for Fido. Mother-in-law layout w/ owner residing on opposite side of the house. 2 bedrooms available although we just needed one and happened to get the one w/ a sleep number bed. Small color TV in bedroom. Best to bring your own iron, blow dryer and coffee if anticipate the need. Location is fabulous as it's walking distance to many restaurants, live music and the beach was about 1 mile away. Owner was extremely friendly and very accommodating. Didn't get the chance to rent the kayaks they had available but hope to return sometime in the future! Thanks for a wonderful and relaxing get-a-way weekend Carol & Ron!

What an amazing vacation!

August 3, 2011

It was our first trip to Port Aransas so the owner Carol and her friend gave us some amazing food recommendations and other ideas of things to do and places to go. The house was spotless and just felt like a home away from home. Very comfy bed as well! Carol was so gratious to let my fiance and I bring our two dogs and had blankets there for them. Many thanks to Carol and Donna for everything!! Katie and I can't wait to come back!! Best vacation in a really long time!

Disappointment

July 16, 2011

i wish I could say I had a good vacation in Port Aransas, but since none of the properties we inquired about ever responded(despite multiple emails on my part) we ended up going to Galveston. Had a wonderful time THERE. Won't bother with Port Aransas next time. It would have been nice to have even gotten an email saying there were no vacancies.

Carol was a most gracious host. We rented her condo for an entire week. The rate was exceptional, nice and clean and a good central location. Will definitely see Carol again on future trips to Port A. Can't wait to get back. P.S. Be sure to watch Carol as she performs locally and is a wonderfully talented musician.

lovely, spotless, charming

March 11, 2011

I had an incredibly relaxing stay here in February. Carol was charming and friendly, but also discreet when I needed privacy. The bedroom is very nicely furnished (and the bed was very comfortable); the private bathroom is ENORMOUS and lovely; and everything is spotlessly clean. I spent my days wandering around Port A (you're a block off the main drag) and up and down the beaches. Just a perfect weekend for me.

What a vacation should feel like...

October 8, 2010

If you haven't stayed here, then you haven't been with the most accommodating, generous hosts that any B&B has to offer. This is the place to experience gracious hospitality and more! Carol was a great host and was very knowledgeable and helpful. We were very thankful for her working with us on our late arrival. She offers a surprisingly affordable lodging in the heart of Port A. I have been visiting Port A for years and never have I been disappointed. Please note that this is the best alternative from any of the other hotels in the area "Freedom" :). Always great to get away from the city, work, laptops, etc. This is a fantastic location, close to the just about everything. It is a lovely neighborhood and close to many restaurants. Please, take the opportunity to stay if you are in the area and treat yourself! Aside from that, the B&B has an unparallel in quality, attention to detail, value, cleanliness and service. A uniquely wonderful place. The room was very cozy, comfortably decorated, impeccably clean and very well appointed with quality bed linens and towels. You feel as comfortable as you are in your own home. The common areas are equally impressive and the property is very nice. Filled with wonderful details like art and a glass of ice tea when you arrive. We will definitely be staying here during our return visits to the area. FYI: donate your book once your done, it adds warmth ;). I love Port A...thanks to Carol and her Bed and Bath for topping it off. Cheers!

My wife and I stayed with Carol at the Old Town Bed and Bath for a long weekend of relaxing. It is exactly as advertised -- a bed, a bath, and common area -- and is in a great location. Easy walking to just about everything. Carol, the owner, is fun to chat with and also has a lot of information to offer about Port A. We absolutely plan to stay here again!

Port A Bed And Bath, Is Just That. We Decided To Make A Quick Trip To Port A, But Did Not Want To Spend Alot Of Money. All We Needed Was A Place To Sleep. We Found This Property Online. Of Course We Were Alittle Worried, Because The Price Was So Amazing. The Property Was Spotless, And Very Comfortable. The Main Street In Town Is One Block Over So You Can Walk To Everything. We Will Definitly Be Back. Thanks Carol.

This little cottage made for an awesome get away for my husband and I. It was absolutely spotless, private and within walking distance of great restaurants, shopping and entertainment. The beach is about about a 15 min walk. You will love Carol - she's so sweet and tells a really funny story about the neighborhood turkey. The rates were also outstanding and we can't wait for the opportunity to stay there again.
